The reason behind this.... they are both young, they are both with premier groups, and they are both incredibly low and smooth.

Ok.... when the last Gold City album came out(Revival) I was impressed with Aaron, and really appreciated what he brought to the table, but IMO, at that time, he still wasn't 'QUITE' as good as Tim Duncan... well... with "Moment of Truth" being released, I have changed my mind again! Tim is good... BUT I think that Aaron has raised the bar a notch! "Cast my bread upon the water" is incredible... he is soooo smooth. And he hits MANY A1's and G1's on this album as well.... the new EHSS album isn't out yet, SO... as for this time, I am putting my vote behind Aaron as being the winner.

What do YOU think??

P.S. This is meant to be 'FUN', so don't get mad if the guy above you picks the other guy!

I voted for Tim at this point. I am much more impressed with Aaron than I thought I'd be, considering I was a diehard Tim Riley fan and I really like Bill Lawrence but Aaron's doing a great job. I just am really impressed with Tim Duncan so, for now, he gets my vote.

Oh definately! I am a DIEHARD Tim Riley fan(my youtube video's can vouch for that!! ) but for a young singer, Aaron is doing a VERY commenable job.

I voted for Tim Duncan. I like both, but as far as post-Riley Gold City bass singers, I really like Bill Lawrence.

I enjoyed spending time with Aaron at NQC while he visited The Dip's bus. He was a HOOT! Loved the story about his 'Mama'. Actually, it's kinda sad. Seems like a 'fan' claimed to be his "Mom', and she had been enjoying the perks of having a famous son, until she was found out!

Aaron has come a long way since his days with the Anchormen. He also sang with Palmetto State and the Blackwoods and now with Gold City. He is one of the top bass singers in the business today. He just doesn't receive enough recognition.

Wow. I didn't realize Aaron had so many fans but I'm sure it will encourage him. I do agree with y'all that he is very good.

If you want to make Aaron very happy, tell him he reminds you of Big Chief Wetherington. Aaron told me once that he had spend many hours watching Big Chief, trying to emulate him. He is definitely someone Aaron looks up to.

I wouldn't consider Tim young anymore. A young bass singer is 35 and below in my opinion. Smooth certainly isn't a term I'd use to either of them.

I'd reserve that term for guys like Eric Bennett or Jeremy Lile. McCune and Duncan are both pretty gruff. I like them both, just don't consider them very smooth.

Funny--I'd consider all four toward the less-smooth end of the spectrum. I'd call Armond Morales, Ed O'Neal, Randy Byrd, Dave Emery (Chuck Wagon Gang), and Tracy Crouch (former Dixie Echoes Bass) smooth bass singers - melodic bass singers that don't venture toward vocal fry territory often.

I'm kinda suprised by the responses... figured Tim would make a better showing than only 19%!!

Most of us don't get to see EH&SS as much as we see Gold City and I think it makes a difference. (I also happen to think Aaron is a better bass!!)

I figured that might be some of it....

I have only seen Tim live... never Aaron.... but I still agree about Aaron being the better bass!

Outside of NQC, I pretty much never see either these days.
