As a single Christian in NYC, I have a very hard time meeting a proper girl. Before I became devoted to my faith, I had no problem meeting all kinds of women and fornicating with them. Now I have changed, but the other people havent. If I even bring the subject of God, and trying to be righteous, talking about avoiding sex before marriage and things of that nature, I get laughed at, like its a joke, some people even get snappy with me. Very frustrating.

you might have better luck asking in singles. it's not necessarily a big city problem, and it's pretty common for existing non-Christian friends to not be supportive of our new worldview/lifestyle after getting saved. if you're going to bars/clubs you used to go to, yeah it makes sense those people would laugh as that is their life :( i'd try to immerse yourself as much as you can around similiarly minded people.

That is not an NYC problem, that's an issue all over. Matthew 7 tells us that Christians are few anyway. Don't settle. That's my suggestion. Compromise kills.

Are you part of a church family? I ask because I know there are some good singles groups in some of the churches there. I know a few single Christians who live up there, and while things aren't easy, it's easier for them to be part of a group.

I agree with one of the other poster...It's just a problem in New York...It is all over....You just have to take a stand and ask God to help you in your walk with God

God bless you, NewYork74! You are walking in God's ways and people not serious about God don't understand. You are doing it right!
Like lots of people have already said, you are facing a problem that's common all over the world. You probably need new friends, too.
I find Christian singles who are also serious about their chastity like you in good churches. Some single groups aren't serious, so you have to check them out. Christian colleges might be a good place, and secular colleges often have Christian groups.
Let me encourage you: as Christians, we absolutely believe in maintaining our chastity (whether we used to before or not - we're doing it now!) and finding others who are doing that, too. God calls us to hold our vessels (our bodies) in honor. A Christian who isn't chaste isn't serious about God (unless they are very untrained in Scripture, and that should soon be fixed as they study it).
Remember that there are Christian young ladies out there wondering where all the serious guys are. Let God lead you. God bless you, brother!

I and my brother have lived in many places around the country. It is true that NYC and the rest of New England are very unchurched in comparison to most of the rest of the US. So yes this is a 'problem' everywhere, but it is worse in some places.
Maybe try a dating service like Eharmony where you can specifically look for other Christians in your area? But I would recommend finding a church you can really plug into there. Just don't forget that finding a girlfriend is not the main reason to go to church. :)
