Picture it...Sicily, 1921....wait, no, that's Sophia's line. What a Golden Girl!

Ok, my line... well sometime here back in late Sept, early Oct., I REALLY wanted to see what Covaan_Meshuga looked like without her milk mustache....SoooOOOOOOoooo -

PJ: So..... can I come visit?

CM: Of course! When?

PJ: I was thinking Mid-November

CM: Are you SERIOUS?!?
_______________________

LOL! Bless her heart!
She didn't quite understand why I would want to visit her. She wrote some place how she didn't understand why, of all people, I, justa lil ole chile, younger than her youngns, would want to go visit her who is 5 yrs older than my parentals.

I thought, "Who DOESN'T want to meet you?" But then, she thinks I'm a little biased.

*DISCLAIMER*
CM and I have been pals for a year now and keep in communication...a LOT...if you're gonna meet an internet friend, BE SURE they're not an axe murderer ok? She wasn't so sure about me....
*DISCLAIMER OVER*

So it begins-

Friday, 11/13- wake up at 4:30AM my time (2AM her time)
THIS IS IT!

- 6AMish- throw the rest of my stuff in my carry on and head to the airport

- 6:30 AM- Airport security busts me with my hairspray and more than 3oz of my favorite shower gel...oops, oh well

- 7:55 AM Board the plane that will bring me to the closest airport near my friend.

-zzzzzzzZZZZzzzzzZZZZZzzzzz

- 9:30 AM Stop in Alberqerque (sp?) no plane change, drop off and pick up...long flight begins

Longest flight EVER

-zzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZ ouch, headache!

- 11AM her time (1PM my time)..

PJ: Hello! AHHHHH! We landed 40 min early!

CM: Really? You're here? Well, I've been here for about an hour and decided to have breakfast...I'm right out here as you come out to baggage claim, just come on down.

LONGEST WALK EVER
*thought I'd NEVER get down there*

Thank you G-d for allowing this time
.
BAGGAGE CLAIM THIS WAY>>>>

SO, I turn the corner and start walking down a slanted walkway, then I look up.....

Was I nervous?

Not in the least, only anxious to see my precious friend.

I look up and there she stands laughing with the security guard *I saw her first!*

Covaan_Meshuga (Pronunced Cova-ahn and Me-shu-gah) was just exactly as I pictured her! Smiling and wearing her tell-tale colors, black and red. Another second and I notice her hat and little pro-life feet pins, THEN her tzittzit was a dead give-a-way!

CM is a beautiful lady with olive skin, mostly blue...but sometimes green eyes depending on what color she's wearing. Cutest haircut..and her hair naturally parts in exactly the perfect place just over her right eye.*me green with envy* AND a shortie like me...only still 2 inches taller, but smaller around haha.

*Don't cry PJ - Don't cry PJ - Don't cry PJ*

She sees me, squints her eyes and kinda tilts her head to the left..I could almost hear her thinking. I point at her, now she KNOWS!

(((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))

Are you for real?!?!? Is this really happening?

YAY Day 1 officially begins!

Haha, I had to keep touching her arm to see if she was real

After I got my stuff, we hit the town!

CM, help me not leave anything out

We went to the fish market and got some incredible smoked salmon for later-WOW

Went to visit a school..and saw the nicest high school football field ever. This school is the site of a popular movie- SO COOL, Now I have to watch the movie again just so I can say, "I've been there!!!"

SUCH a beautiful place- the ground rolls up and down and the colors of the trees were just spectacular! She thought it dull...I can only imagine what it was like at its peak! Flying over, it looked like glitter on the ground. In my area (DFW) everything is basically flat and you can see the lands and skies for miles and miles. Where she is, there are hills and mountains- amazing to this little flatlander.

We drove all over the place just looking (I am an architecture nut). I got to several places that she's talked about-made the whole thing so much more real.

Then we went to her house (super cute, oh if walls could talk, I'd love to know the history) and she made us italian sodas. YUMMY! CM often says she can't cook, but I beg to differ- she is a concoctionist! I was a little nauseaus from the long plane ride, so that italian soda hit the spot!

We hung out for a while and went on and on about how we couldn't believe this was really happening. I got to see her bee and rubber duckie collection- WOW! And we prepared a little agenda of what we would do with out short time.

THEN off we go again to look at glass! Not just any glass...really incredible glass. She took me to a courthouse where some is displayed. We had to go through security and show our IDs. I SAW her drivers license WITH the milk mustache pic and the guard didn't say a word hahahaha! Love it.

This glass was incredible- amazing stuff. Patterned after things of the sea - beautiful colors...oh man I gotta get back to work, break over. I'll be back!

CM - chime in if you want

Oh, you people! Thank you for all your responses! I wish I could get all of you together.

So I sat down and had brunch while waiting. I was so unsure of the freeway that I wanted to Make Sure I got there on time, not a moment late! So I had gone early.

As I finished eating, suddenly, my phone rang. It was her! They had come in 40 minutes early!! I got so excited that I gathered my things and ran over to meet her. Then I heard a voice from the restaurant calling. I turned, and the man who had served me was motioning me to come back.

I tried to tell him that I should not, my friend was coming, but he kept motioning and smiling, so I went over to see what he wanted. I had run out on my food tab! No kidding! I left the restaurant and didn't pay! Of course, I gave him a nice tip and apologized like crazy. I told him that if he hadn't caught me, I never would have realized I hadn't paid! Just too excited to meet PJ!!

And what a beauty she is! But we all already knew that.

She may be from Texas, but her southern accent is lite, and I only heard her say "y'all" a couple times. I have got to start saying that! It just needs to be said.

So we got some smoked salmon. And I am sitting here wondering why I didn't buy fresh salmon! (But the whole time PJ was here, my brain was completely befuddled, so nothing surprises me. I couldn't think to talk. Words escaped me. And after she left, I found the grits unopened and lots of goodies I had bought to serve, all still sitting there. Sure, I am not used to having non-family company, but she felt like family. I should have settled down. Unhhh!)

As she looked at the sites, to me now dulled by all the leaves that had fallen weeks ago, i was puzzled that she found it colorful. But when she described Texas, I tried to imagine and could not! Last time I was in TX, it was to drive through, but i was 8-1/2. I didn't look around much. To hear her tell how she could stand in one city and see several others is just plain fascinating. I cannot imagine.

So we went to the old train station, which has a wonderful display of Chihuly glass. Take a look at some of his works. Love that stuff!

But one of the things PJ did for me is helped me to see a truly beautiful Southern lady -- something one hardly ever sees up north. And she helped me to see some changes I want to make in myself. G-d has been working on me, and the acme of genteelity stayed in my home last weekend. I know she will be horrified to read that, but without knowing it, she spurred me toward more changes that I believe will glorify G-d and change me for the better for His sake. I am already working on that, using a journal to write down the things I need to learn.

Now, just ignore that last paragraph, PJ!

*Ignoring CM's last paragraph* ;'P

Sooo after driving around a while, we went back and CM's sweetheart and myself talked football while she prepared things for erev shabbat.

WHAT AN HONOR to spend shabbat with the Lady who first explained so much to me! I kept thinking, "I can't believe I'm here". I know I said that a few dozen times and it likely got old to CM, but I was still in a state of shock.

Sabbath at CM's is such a sweet time - wish everyone could watch how sweet she and her hunny are towards the L-rd and in praying for each other and blessing one another.

*chicken and matzo ball soup for the single messianic soul*

She prayed for me and I nearly fell apart in a puddle of tears on the floor, but amazingly I held it together. I even got to read a Psalm. Such a precious, precious time.

Afterwards, we hung out for a little while longer in her living room (ok, well I kept her up late A LOT) and chatted a while, then crashed.

11/14 - Shabbat AND my birthday! We went to CM's shul and met lotsa wonderful people. I almost kept up during their service...I was able for the most part. Every synagogue does things a little differently, but I hung in there mostly (I think). I got to hear CM sing!!!!!!!!! *CM close your eyes* BEAUTIFUL voice!!! I was too chicken to sing any louder teehee.

Lunched there and hung out for a Bible study and hung through Havdalah which was SUPA fun. Then back to CM's for more hang out-poetry reading (if you don't know it already, CM is a VERY talented artist and writer), chatting and even a little Crosswalk time - did anyone read our threads?. I could not have imagined a better birthday!

11/15 - Slept in! Of course sleeping in for me...with the time difference meant waking up before daylight! Poor CM, I didn't give her a break the whole time I was there. I tried to be quiet since I was upstairs right over her head, but she got up anyway.

oooOOOOOOoooooooo what are we going to do today?

Brunch at this cutsie place where the senior leader at her shul plays swing-jazz type music. Felt like I was back in New Orleans. Great on that trumpet with his extremely talented guitarist son and others. Fun stuff! Yummy soup.

THEN we leave to meet up with her hunnie to go to a beautiful restaurant overlooking the water. There were seals out there people! SEALS - REAL ones, not in a zoo! OOPS CM, I just remembered my leftovers, OY! Walking back from the restaurant to the auto, we stopped to look in the water and saw a big star fish. Man, I miss living on a coastline.

After that, CM's hunnie took us for a ride through a beautiful park filled with the MOST remarkable trees and views. We saw two racoons and they walked right up to a window and one stood on his two back legs and wanted to say hello. I think they were looking for treats tho.

A little further and there's MORE racoons, all just hanging out. A little further and there's MORE MORE! I have never seen that many all together in my life. Unfortunatly, contrary to the song in a thread, the photos aren't in my phone. They didn't come out well at all. The ones of the scenery came out beautiful, but the coons didn't *sad face*

Back to the house, then off to Costco! Woohoo! We went around town a bit then too. The schools there look like castles, I couldn't get over it- incredible architecture.

Back to her house preparing for her bears and grandbears to arrive.

WOW I got to meet the family - very much like mine! They HAD to wonder about Mom's crazy internet visitor haha. She's got a great crew and the cutest, sweetest Grandbears ever. Such a delight.

Continuing -

After her sweet family left, we again spent some chat time. Sylvester the fly wanted to hang out too...but his fate would soon be determined.

CM and I had some heart-to-heart talks that I think were directed by G-d Himself. I've got to believe that. Just a few hours ago, I called to let her know how some things she said have impacted me and G-d only knows how they will affect the future.

I am watching a transformation in my own life and I KNOW it is a direct result of some of those heart-to-hearts.

For the last several months, G-d has used CM countless times to keep me together when I just knew I was loosing it. She would speak so gently that for the first time, I've allowed G-d to address some things in my life that have needed to be dealt with for years. My whole world is changing. I needed to meet the Lady G-d decided to use to impact my life so.

Well...Sylvester the fly bit the dust....right after CM smacked him there! We had a little memorial and everything.

We went to CM's room and looked at poetry and a few amazing drawings - WOW! I secretly wanted to raid her librarie(s), but I restrained! Then we took a google maps cyber walk around the places where she grew up. Even saw where she was born! Mind boggling place So fun and got to hear lots of stories to go with it.

Big day tomorrow.... so we crashed.

Well, I had a an answer almost completed, and it just disappeared. Stinkin'!!!

Stinkin', STINKIN'!!!

Short version --

(stinkin'!)

So PJ never let me hear her sing, hard as I tried. POUT!

And praying for her was a privilege -- to pray for her while she was at our Shabbat table was nearly more than I could handle! What a privilege.

And I have a 60-year-old's voice -- that's all. She is just being kind.

And those raccoons! At that one spot, I counted at least 12! They were all so cute, all dressed up in their robber costumes! Big ones, medium-sized ones, and smallish ones. I loved that. But it seemed like G-d just kept giving us unique little gifts like that the whole tome PJ was here.

G-d is so good. I so enjoyed out heart-to-hearts. I learned so much from her that I had to start a whole new study journal on . . . well . . . growing up @ 60. No kidding. I learned some major things from PJ that I intend to implement.

Sylvester the fly. Well, he should have stayed outside. So I whacked him, wiped the area down with antibacterial stuff, then put a little yellow paper cross there, which stayed until after PJ was gone. Poor Sylvester the fly had to die, 'cause he apparently want his fly pie in the sky without waiting for it: he buzzed my head, and that means DEATH!!!

G-d is so good! I so enjoyed our heart-to-hearts. As you can see, I was very benefitted by them!

Then, on the morning of the 16th . . . well, I'll let PJ tell you what else bit the dust!

I couldn't believe it! And he has let me pet him almost every morning since then!

Mundie mornin', 11/16-

/////// BUT FIRST *CM don't look this will bug you...bug bug bug*

She does NOT have only a 60 yr old's voice!!! She has one of those very pleasant voices that you could have playing all day in your house, car and Ipod and it would not get old. Her husband and I have a mutual understanding that CM doesn't see how amazing she is. Now, I feel better. And, in regards to her learning from me?? I have no idea whatsoever what that could be.\\\\\\\

* Ok CM, you can look now *
Okies, where were we? Oh yes....So, I'm about to get in the shower, had already set my glasses on the sink and I notice a dot on the wall that I didn't remember seeing before. Then I notice the dot move as I got a little closer. I grabbed my glasses to investigate my dot and I see a spider. Not just any spider, long thin legs, violin on its back - I knew this critter. I got a little tissue, squished the buggie, flushed him and went on.

Got out and dressed for the day and once things settled after the security alarm was turned off (teehee) I asked CM's hunnie if they had brown recluse spiders in the area that he was aware of. He said, "Yes." "Oh," I responded, "Well, now you have one less."

Now, with the exception of Sylvester the fly, I didn't see a bug the whole time I had been in the state. Here in TX, our critters will pick you up and carry you away, but not up there, they're sneaky. You have to shoot TX bugs with at least a .22.

So CM gets up...bless her heart! In spite of my keeping her up so long, she was up and at 'em, especially after hearing about the spider. We ate breakfast, where I learned something yummiee. She had yogurt and poured cereal over it. Greatest invention next to the lime italian soda. This shall now become part of my morning ritual.

Off we go! After saying hello to Moochie of course. CM's sweetheart of a husband drives us to the mountain. oooOOOOooooo. Most beautiful drive ever.

We drove and drove...well, he drove and drove while we rode and rode I should say. He was so kind to do that!

Beautiful drive. Has anyone ever heard of a monkey tree? I found about them the day before...so cool. So we drive through some very cool places. OoooOOOoooo we're going UP now!

LOOK! SNOW!

There was snow on the edges of the road! *Gasp!* I had to ask them to forgive that I suddenly turned into an 8 yr old! We stopped a a little rest area before going further and I snapped a few pics of the snow right after stepping on it to hear it crunch. We continue further and looking through the trees, you could see where snow had settled on fallen trees so beautifully.

Further still and the snow starts to grow...around a corner and looking in an open area...its everywhere! WOW REAL SNOW!

Soon the snow is deeper and deeper...the road is slushy, but he's got it well figured out. Around and up we go and pretty soon, the snow piled up from the snow relocating vehicles (lol, that's the best I can come up with) is taller than what I can see out of the van windows.

We got out to take pics and I poked my finger in the snow at eye level! It started snowing lightly on us....I am freaking out now, too amazing! I don't know how they tolerated me.Very patient people. It was SOOOO COOOOOLD! We played around a bit and drove to different areas.

Saw beautiful waterfalls and what I suppose was a stream or creek or something that flows from under a bridge. It lookd like something Thomas Kincade should paint. In fact, I'm taking my picture to his sister in law at his Ft Worth gallery to tell him methinks he should paint this scene!

Places so incredible, they looked cut right out of a calendar someplace, only, I could FEEL the snow. *sigh* Pinch me CM so I know this is real. She tickles the hairs on my arm....oh, I knew it was a dream! haha

Lots of play and pictures later, we start going back down. I am in awe, wondering too what it must have been like in the day G-d was forming these places. WOW.

CM declares that there will be Hot Coco today! So, we stop at a little place and lo and behold! They serve hot coco, so we go in and start looking around this adorable place hidden on the mountain.

There were two men also there and we all started chatting. They had just come from picking mushrooms! They said that the reason to stop at that little place was to get their blackberry shake.

Without our knowing it, they had asked the waitress for another cup and they brought over a mug for me to try! WOW what nice people hang out up there! THEN they offer CM some fresh mushrooms...an hour old! Woohoo!

So we continue back to their house where CM starts cooking up some shrooms! I don't want to be more than a few feet from her in my last few hours there, so I sit in one of her hand-painted bee chairs and watch a concoctionist at work!

YUM! We eat our yum yums and then just hang out...another life-altering heart-to-heart that fries my socks. This one messed with my whole world. She has a way of doing that. And actually, I think THIS was the day that CM and I go for our cyber walk on google maps. Around 1AM we crash.

Few hours left....

11/17 - Tuesdie mornin' Last day

I get up and get stuff together. We were to run to a cutsie drugstore to pick up some Market Spice Tea - a tea that should be a staple in every kitchen.

Rolling my suitcase out towards the stairs. CM is walking around in her pjs, stops at the stairs and says, "I don't want to see that." I said, "Me either!" *sigh* I really didn't want it to end, but CM said we have to be thankful for the time we did have, although short, was very special.

Off to breakfast where CM gets the most odd thing ever. She orders a Dutch Baby. I have never heard of such in my life! It looked like a crepe, only a tad bit thicker and shaped like a round boat. A Dutch baby. Do they serve those only in the north??? I tried it...they should definitely have them down here. I had apple fries and a veggie omlet!mmmmm

Next, we go to the store for tea(CM, that was incredibly sweet of you BTW), then back to the house to get luggage...

I take a sec to look around. What amazing time this has been. I want to soak up everything I see so I can remember. Luggage loading time and to the airport we go.

Took forever to find a parking spot, but she did! We wander in, I check my bags and get my boarding pass, then we hang out for as long as we can at the little restaurant where she nearly forgot to pay last time we were here.

Time for me to run through security and board. I don't want to say goodbye, and I refuse to let tears fall.
HUGS! Right where it all started!

CM, this has been an amazing time and you have been amazing, my life has changed as a result of meeting you online and now moreso in spending this time with you, thank you HaShem for such an opportunity and thank you CM simply for being you.

I had so many things I wanted to say, but there weren't really any words. We hugged again and I started through security. I found the shorter line, started through and looked for CM, she's still standing there, I blow kisses and go through.

Made it a few seconds before falling apart...
