I heard this on the radio as I was driving to work. In the upcoming season of Desperate Housewives, 5 years will have gone by since the end of last season. The writer stated it will be a fresh new start to the show. Will it be that, or will it be the thing to which causes the show to "jump the sharK?"

I don't think it's the end of the series. I think they just wanted to shake things up, and this gives them new stories.

I do remember the show's "season finale" last year was kind of "odd".....they were doing "vignettes" of each character as the show was ending, and it was then you saw Susan with SOMEONE who certainly was not Mike....and, it really left ya scratching your head....

we'll find out soon what's going on....

I think it'll be interesting. Gabby being a Mom this time and the twins being teenagers and I can imagine how Lynette will handle this. So I'm assuming the kid actors will not be back.

Jumping 5 years ahead. Now that's desperate.

Jumping 5 years, jumping the shark; could be a connection there.

I can't imagine Gabby as a mother, but then I couldn't imagine me as a father either . We'll have to see what happens. Lynette's reation to teenagers should be interesting. I have a feeling Tom's daughter is going to be back as well, which might really shake things up.

I wonder if the anti-televison police, those who post here thinking that this show is full of sin and Christians should not watch it, lol...

Seriously, this season premiere should be interesting. Ms. Don't like kids (Gabby) will have a rude awakning.... But maybe the writers may be doing it to keep these storylines fresh and interesting this season...

I remember being here on Crosswalk when the show first started. There was a thread started for people like us who watch the show and it kept getting interrupted by those people. The mods had to put a stop to it by creating a separate thread.

It should be interesting. Perhaps her selfishness will be curbed.

Since you're the original OP, you might want a mod to set your original post for DH viewers and for DH show discussions only. gayle is right...this thread will be attacked by 'how can you watch this show if you're a christian?' posts.

It will be interesting if they can pull it off, not that the show was that believable anyway.

Mike isn't supposed to be on according to the previews.. wonder where he went?

Yeah. At the very end of the season finale I remember they'd made a jump. I remember Gabby...is that her name? The one obsessed with money and is married to Carlos... she had twins (either that or more than one child) and looked like a wreck... And the others had changed as well. I just remember her telling her kids to get out of her makeup and I saw some chubby little girls running around. :)

Eva Parker (Gabby) actually looks really young without all that makeup. She has that natural beauty. So it does seem that they will be doing a lot of flashbacks. I really thought Mike's gone. I love how Lynette and Tom still have that togetherness.

Speaking of Tom & Lynette.....I was wondering what happened to the OTHER kids? The girl in particular?

I think that's got alot to do with WHY they did the "flash forward" 5 years......over time, they will do "flash backs" to explain what happened during that time....(like they did with Bree's daughter's baby....and how they came about leaving and all)

Susan's daughter wasn't mentioned, either (I know she would be 23ish or so, and either finishing up college...or away on her own)...but, she wasn't even mentioned....was she?

I'm sure some of the characters will be in future episodes. Bree's hubby was only in 2 scenes last night.
Edie's new hubby...any guess who's he's after? I'm guessing he knew the Mom and child that Mike hit-- maybe his wife????
And why is Gabby's daughter Juanita looks older than Susan and Mike's child when Susan was pregnant last season not Gabby.

I missed it. Sunday Night Football was the Eagles VS The Bears and the Eagles lost and I am not happy about that. I went to the ABC website because you are supposed to be able to watch episodes online, something on my computer will not allow it to work. This is very frustrating. I might have to start a "Guilty Pleasures" thread and put Desperate Housewives at the top for me. I do believe that not only am I the OP on this thread, but perhaps the only man? I am not embarrassed though, I am secure enough in my masculinity to admit that I like this show and follow the story line.

I'm having the same problem with ABC online viewing since I missed Grey's Anatomy so it might not be your computer, it might be the site itself.

I, too, am a man and love this show. I was impressed at how well they did on the flash forward. I was afraid that it would be a "shark jump", but if they keep up the quality I'l be very happy.

I'm wondering about Edie's husband, too. He has his sights set on someone, I just don't know who. I think it might be one of the guys, but one of the women is possible too.

It will be interesting to see how the season unfold.

Somewhere I read that it is Mrs. McCulskey.

I thought about that too since that scene during the party with Mrs McClosky was a bit odd but then she's been sneaking in and out in a lot of scenes with no reasons for awhile now.

Maybe she's his mother? Gave him up for adoption for some reason? Just a couple theories.

It was definitely interesting. Gabby having an overweight kid is a definite story to watch. Edie actually BEING a housewife instead of feasting on everyone's leftovers is a definite plus. I love Neal McDonough, so his character should be fun to watch.

I don't like the fact of Susan messing around with a younger guy...I've always loved her and Mike together.

The twin story was a hoot (having 13 month old girls myself). I wonder where the other children are...?

Did Gabby have twins or two separate girls? They kept showing the chubby one, but I didn't really see the other.

I believe the other was smaller than the one they showed (Juanita?) So I think it was two different ages. Also, they did say when her daughter was trying on dresses that she was 4, so I think she's supposed to be younger than Susan's son.

So it looks like Edie's creepy husband is after Mrs McCloky. 'wonder if he's the baby in the picture in her house. I'm also trying to remember when her 'husband in the freezer' was discovered, I thought it was mentioned that he was married before-- maybe it has something to do with that.
The Lynette moment with her teen, I'm sure that there are Moms who would have thought of that or probably even did what she did. And why is Parker ended up looking a lot younger (or maybe just shorter) than the twins?
Susan's storyline- I'm actually not liking it at all.
