Is there any way to encourage a period to begin? The only reason why I ask that is when my periods started again with Nadia my ppd started to get better. It's like I needed to have a normal cycling of hormones. When I was talking with my midwife we discovered a possible connection to my 4 years of depression when I was a teen and my abnormal/no cycles. Last year I felt my best, physically and emotionally when I was cycling every month. I know I can't make it happen, but just wondering if there is anything to help it along. Probably sounds weird, a woman wanting a period! But hey, I am grasping for anything here!

Probably the only thing is to stop breastfeeding. Even the birth control pill they would give you won't make you menstruate.

I don't know if it's ok to breastfeed whilst taking Evening Primrose Oil (maybe someone in the Got Mommy's Milk might be able to answer), but EPO does tend to have the effect of regularising hormone levels, and that in itself might help you, even if it doesn't bring on a period. If it's ok to take it whilst b'fing, 1000mg a day is best.

I got my period 6 weeks after the birth of my first child, (and got pregnant 8 weeks after her birth) and I read somewhere or my doctor told me that it was because my baby was sleeping through the night - thus I wasn't nursing through the night. Something about your homones being regulated.........I'll have to look into it. I do know that I got my period relatively early (bummer) w/ all 4 of my kids.

Sorry I am no help with this because I did not have a menstrual cycle until almost 4 weeks after he weaned and he did not completely wean until 13 months old.
