i would just like to say that i am not fond of paragraphs spacing at all i think it is overrated as is any sort of punctuation or period to end the sentence i have felt this way all of my life and believe that it is based on biblical evidence the bible is clear that commas and periods were not used at least when you see the original latin and greek versions i cain't always understand what they are saying but i can see with my own eyes that they did not put periods or commas in there that is an invention of king james people when they wrote the bible so that he would understand it better as he must have been not the smartest king either that or a tyrant as his people had to bow to his whim to make a book that he could understand though i kind of see his point because the hebrew and latin letters are funny and the alphabet doesn't seem as long and they don't have a word for and which i find is really silly muchless having another word for silly and that brings me back to the fact that i do not personally belive that one should use puncutation nor should one put a space to show a new paragraph has started there is really no need to start a new paragraph because every word that i say is so important that it needs to be read putting a space in there would only actually take up more space on the page and i would rather fill those spaces with important words usually my own words and they don't have to be coherant or make any sense but to me they are golden and worth more than the internet in sum total if i could broadcast them to the moon i would and all the little space aliens would know that we as a people can be understood even though paragraphs and punctuations are not important to us they may be to some but not to me because what i have to say is awe inspiring and i am sure they would want to come down to earth live among us and find out more about the Lord and what He has done for me

All I can say is this: do you really want me to read your post? Let me know cause if you are just venting and you don't care if I really read it or understand then keep making it hard to read and understand. I already have my mental list of posters whom I just skip over.

Is it unethical for Christians to use poor spelling, grammar, punctuation, or things such as all caps? Is it just an irritant, and a sign of lack of education? I'm going to buck the trend and take a serious swing at this. Most of the time it is not unethical. The only time I have hammered anyone over grammar (and I don't do this anymore) is when they are being way too judgmental or in some other way obnoxious. One reason I did this is because I suspect these people are doing it on purpose. They want to try to convince everyone of the truth of their positions by making their posts hard to read. This is because they realize their position has holes in it but when you're holier than thou those little details don't matter. In addition, when someone intelligent comes along and pokes holes in their post it is easier to backtrack if the post was hard to understand in the first place. They claim that isn't exactly what they meant, sorry if I confused you. Baffling with bull so to speak. I agree with the poster who stated that sometimes people do it as a sign of "anti-snobbery". Like they are saying my place with God is far above any of your silly grammar rules. If that is the reason people don't bother with grammar it is extremely inconsiderate of them. Especially when they are gently corrected or are offered advise to make their posts easier to read. And yes I can do better but the important thing is to spell words correctly and use paragraphs. I am able to write better but quite honestly it takes me more effort than I can afford to spend on a message board. I trust my point is clear enough. Edited: your should have been you're. Figured I'd make a boo boo on a thread about grammar.

I notice that sometimes people tell how hard they have studied a certain subject, how much they know and so forth. But for all of that, they cannot put together a coherent sentence. I have had discussions with people and I had trouble reading and understanding their arguments. That tells me: 1) They are dyslexic. OR 2) They did not do well in school. OR 3) They don't know much about study and research. Some of the topics we cover in Bible study have a great deal to do with basic grammar. If they don't know English grammar well, I have a difficult time thinking that they have read it well. They might be able to pronounce all of the words but might not understand all of the possible meanings of certain sentences. I am not denigrating their lack of education. Maybe they didn't have the opportunities I had. But if that is so, why do they have to be so argumentative?

Not unethical or immoral, but a reflection about a person's ability to communicate--or not. There are different kinds of people that fall into this category: 1) those who don't know better 2) those who know better, but don't care, or are just lazy 3) those who think they're using words properly and have good grammar, but don't

Spelling mistakes are one thing, but some people look like they are writers of the LOLcats.

I do wonder at times how people who appear so ignorant have somehow decided that their take on scripture is correct, regardless of the well written and thought out disagreements with their posts. If you can't spell ...how can you read and comprehend scripture, or much of anything else?
