I am trying to get into College for Web Design to do freelance Web Design for a living. The problem is I am not sure how to go about this. I need a lot of help. I want to at least get my associates degree in HTML. I need a lot of info. I live in Michigan and am thinking of going to Baker College the Owosso Campus cause it is closest to my house. The only problem with this is it costs so much more than a Community College. I cannot drive yet so please respond and give me some help if you can possibly give advice. Thank you all and be blessed in Jesus name.

What do you need help with? Deciding where to go? Community colleges aren't bad to start with but a lot of 4 year schools don't accept all the credits from community college. I live in Michigan and Baker isn't a bad choice although you need to get a Bachelor's degree. An associates degree in HTML won't get you any interviews unless you have a lot of experience. If you can't drive can you go somewhere like Michigan State or Central and live on campus? Did you try to apply for any scholarships or financial aid?

I live in Novi michigan but I could commute to several different schools.. but not being able to drives severely limits your chances of employment. You must have reliable transportation if you are offered employment. We really don't have a good system of public transportation in this state.

I am being given one more chance to drive. But it is my last chance. My mom is going to sell my Van if I don't get my liscence before my next Permit expires. I am working on it. I hope I will pass finally. I have a supportive family trying to help but I learn really slow. I am wondering if you would pray that I could do good and pass the test. I think that would help a lot. Please don't give up on me. I know I can do it if I put my mind to it and if God helps me on top of that. Do you got any hints on backing into a parking space or backwards into parallel parking?

The only time I parallel parked was when taking the test, and trying to learn it that day. I rarely back into a space. Actually I never did when I had my SUV and now I am relearning it with a much smaller car. You'll have to just do it slow and learn to pull up and straighten if needed. If it's a van you'll need to use the mirrors. Trust me you can get by with not having to parallel park .. very few places require it. You may just have to go in the parking garage instead of the street. So do your best .. you'll get better at driving as time goes by.

I never thought of going through a driving school... Duh. Jeez I feel stupid. Every place here in Michigan that I know of makes you back into a parallel park at least. I fail it almost immediately. I live next to the person that started the Driving School in Owosso Michigan. I wish I could just bribe him but that would be the wrong thing to do in God's eyes. I doubt I could influence him with money anyway. I will pass the test this time if it kills me!

It may be wrong to bribe him to fix the test for you, but it wouldn't be wrong to offer to trade him some service for him teaching you how to drive. Heck, he started a business for that purpose. I have heard from a friend who heard from a friend who heard... that if you have trouble parallel parking, you might be better off taking the test in the winter, when there are high snow banks, because the test takers might be less likely to make you parallel park. But I shouldn't really say that, because I think it's important that people know how to parallel park. You can get away without it in smaller towns, but if you have to drive and park in any kind of a city, it's crucial. What's really fun is trying to parallel park a large box truck w/ a standard transmission on a hill. -Dan.

In general, a CS degree with an art minor or business minor would leave you extremely qualified for managing websites, and it would also give you the flexibility to work in a lot of other areas, too. I got a CS degree because I wanted to start a dot-com, but I found out I enjoyed business a whole lot more, and now I'm a financial programmer. Also, what do you think of school at Ann Arbor? They have a pretty good CS program and an excellent business program. Finally, of course, you'll need to work on developing a portfolio of websites in college. See if anyone has any design work for you.

Thank you Blessed I am actually looking into other schools. No I didn't think of that school. But now I will put that in my considerations. Also thanks for the info on a Computer Science Degree. I would probably excel more at that type of stuff. I will consider that as I step into the future, God willing I will excel if it is his will. I hope I do ok at it as I have a slacking problem. Slacking and College don't mix if you know what I mean.
