Jesus was the ONLY perfect human to walk the face of the earth!! However, if He lived today He would not meet the requirements of the U.S. Constitution to be elected President of the United States of America!
1. Must be born on US soil. He was born in Bethlehem
2.Must be 35 years old. He died at 33

Not to mention electibilty. Zero experience. Negative toward megachurches. Too liberal on helping the poor, aged and disabled. Too liberal on defense spending. Too conservative on social policy. Wouldn't like the $1500 per plate fundraisers.

Most importantly, He wouldn't run. Would have more important things to do.

Jesus would have a lot of problems getting the liberal and minority vote if he held to the New Testament line of;

If you don't work you don't eat.

and

Be content where ever you are at

and

do not covet.

Each person will be judged on what they do and not what others have done.

Why would He want to be our president when He is already our beloved King

Plus, He clearly told us that His Kingdom is not of this world.

Paul said that.
This would not affect the Latino vote, btw. They come here to work.

Nobody said that.

Tenth Commandment.
You are right about this one: it's downright unAmerican.

Is this your personal observation? It sure isn't scripture.

WWJD? I'm pretty positive running for president would not be it.

Which version of scripture do you read use - and do you really expect to be judged by what I have done? That sounds like a very scary theology you have.

Mostly the Authorized KJV. I also like the NKJV, the NIV, and the RSV.

quote:

Certainly not. All I am saying is that, "Each person will be judged on what they do and not what others have done," is not a quote from Jesus.

My theology is quite scary to a Christian; I am apostate.

Who said it was a direct statement of Jesus? Do you think only direct quotes from Jesus constitute biblical principles?

Well boys and girls it is time for a Bible lesson;

(2Co 5:10) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Thanks
RC

Jesus would not even run or concern Himself with some human born political office. Many on the far right would not embrace Him because He would treat them like the Pharisee. Many on the far left would hate Him just like the Sadducee. It is a safe bet that many of us will follow suit and fall in place either on the right or the left to reject Him. Since He was a man of color from that part of the world, He probably will get flagged by Homeland Security for possibly being involved in terrorist activity to overthrow the government and end up in Gitmo. His trial will not be a swift process due to our slow justice system, but He would have one heck of a prison ministry before His execution.

Didn't Jesus have the 1st mega church (i.e. the Sermon on the Mount)?

He is not even welcome in many of our churches.

Jesus said true Christianity is unpopular ---"NARROW IS THE WAY TO LIFE, AND FEW GO IN THAT WAY, AND BROAD IS THE WAY TO DESTRUCTION, AND MANY GO THAT WAY".

Megachurches are too popular to be real.

Would the 5,000 or the 4,000 in attendance that Jesus spoke to - and fed - be considered mega?

The late, great Dr. W.A. Criswell, long time pastor of First Baptist Church Dallas had a congregation close to 25,000 from the late 1950s through the 1970s.....what wasn't "real" about it?

How big does a church get before it ceases "being real"?
At what point is a church supposed to "turn away" those who want to hear God's word preached?

How many "mega churches" have you actually been an active member of? Every one in existence? (each and every church is unique, regardless of size...there are some great LARGE churches, and great small churches...and vice versa).....
I have had some very "negative" experiences in "micro-churches", so, does that allow me to say that THEY are ALL "negative"/not "real"???

Why do we attend our church...one that is considered a 'mega church'? Because it IS "real", and we found that far too many of the much smaller churches in our area were NOT 'real'...

The church in Acts baptized people by the thousands....were they not "real", as well

Good point JimboFletch, just don't forget that after the covered dish supper when Jesus got serious about his teachings; all of them save the 12 boggied. (John 6:53-68)

Thanks

There is a biblical precedence for megachurches. Read Acts, Chapter 2, verses 40-47. That sounds like a megachurch to me.

3,000 people came to Christ after Peter's first sermon! I would sure love to see that happen now. I get excited every time I see one come to Christ! I can't imagine how exciting it would be to see 3,000!
