Ok, we used to have a 3 box setup at home where my computer was the server for ICS and 2 clients all running Windows Vista. We usually had no problems sharing the internet or files on our home network. I bought a Wireless G Router finnally so that I can work on people's computers without taking the entire network down with me. Followed everything step by step and the internet is awesome.

The problem I'm having now is I cannot access the printer or folders over the LAN. I kept the same workgroup name, same computer names but we absolutely cannot share files or see other files.

Yes I'm running Vista. :P Does anyone have any ideas? : )

I just wanted to add that for now all 3 boxes are wired.

1. All 3 boxes are wired temporarily, and it is working, but it doesn't work wireless.

2. All 3 boxes are wired temporarily, and it's not working any better than it does wireless.

Which is it?

All 3 boxes are wired into it and they will stay that way for now until we move and I figure out which ones will need wireless and which ones won't. So all 3 are wired, all 3 can access the internet but I cannot share files or the printer between the 3.

I may have had a breakthrough disabling the 2 norton firewalls gets me access.

At my end, Zonealarm requires explicit firewall exceptions. Maybe you can do the same with Norton. I don't know anything about their products. Norton may have seen the existing network as a Brand New Network after you swapped routers, and subsequently applied its default (completely locked down) settings.

We disabled the Firewall and it is fine now. Will play with it later but what I am now wondering is: Do I need a firewall with a router?

We used to use ICS with a hub, hehe. Talk about your nightmares getting internet access...
