Hi, I am a gardener from St. Paul, Minnesota. I am thinking that it might be fun to grow some plants from the Bible. I like both indoor and outdoor plants. Do you have any suggestions? Are there any special plants or flowers mentioned in the Bible that we can still grow today?

What about the cukes and melons mentioned in Exodus? Not very exotic, but those are the first plants I think of.

Then you have figs and grapes mentioned throughout the Bible.

Oh, and Jesus mentions tithing herbs and spices to the Pharasees when repremanding them for their treatment of their parents.

Cedar?

I'm afraid I've never paid attention.

Willow trees, myrtle trees, mulberry trees, palm trees, cedars, all are mentioned in the Bible. Figs, dates, pomegranites, etrogs, herbs & spices, any of the foods that were eaten, etc. could all be grown today, and still are, just not sure how many could be grown in Minnesota, considering the climate differences!

edited to add: lilies of the valley, regular lilies (as in--lilies of the field), rose of sharon
