Yes, I watch sports. Only the NBA and the NFL Dh and I were debating the role of QB's. Jay Cutler received high praise but right now the Bears..........nah. Then, with the return of Brady, we see the Patriots doing better this year. Is the scrutiny and expectation that we place on the QB warranted or is it about the overall team?

Well the QB is the linchpin of the offense and you must score to win. (Ask the Browns about this.) The QB is the focal point of the team and can get the team to excel and rally or can be a distraction and bring the team down through his crybaby antics. I think the QB is, and always will be, the key to a team's success.

I would say both. QB's get the most scrutiny because of how much of the game they control. But they also get it because they are often very highly paid. They are expected to be leaders, so when things aren't going well for the TEAM, they are often the one's answering the questions as to why.

However, a football team is 53 guys. If the QB is doing his job to the best of his ability, then you can't lay all the blame on him. Somebody has to catch the passes he throws, somebody has to make tackles on defense, etc.
So, to me, QBs should be held to a higher expectation, but I don't see how they can be held responsible for the actions or quality of play of the other 52 guys.

Just my 2 cents....
