Found this from a friend on Facebook, so I reposted it here....pick and choose as you will: If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how he inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes? If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?... Read More If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky? If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved? If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip? If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment? If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is? If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite? If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11? If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence? If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved. If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved? So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 5 months -- so you'll have three years and seven months to come up with an answer.

Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how he inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes? If Mr. Bush had actually held any press conferences, probably yes. quote:
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved? Yes, The president is entitled to recreation just like anyone. Unfortunately that comes with a high price because he needs to be protected. quote:
If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?... Read More No, but neither president did that. GM's inept management did. quote:
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved? No, no particularly. He did call that NY times reporter a nasty name. Cheney did tell a senator to do something nasty. Limbaugh did make fun of a man with Parkinson's disease. Did you have a problem with those? I think Obama shouldn't have said what he did but it had much less malicious intent than the 3 examples of conservative good taste that I've cited. quote:
If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky? Couldn't have cared less. If Dems had made a big issue of it I would've thought they were being stupid. quote:
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved? Like holding hands with the guy was so much better. quote:
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip? It would've been just one more Bushism.... no biggie. quote:
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved? Depends on the individual circumstances of each case. quote:
If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment? No. When I speak perfectly on every occasion, I'll become that hyper-critical of others. quote:
If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is? No, I think the Dan Quayle thing was ridiculous. quote:
If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite? I probably would've already come to that conclusion by then. quote:
If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11? That was stupid no matter what administration caused it. quote:
If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved. That's been going on since Nixon at least. The Bush administration's disdain for congress was almost unprecedented so you may not want to go there. "Signing statements" anyone? quote:
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved? If that corporation owed its survival to my tax dollars, yeah I would have. Of course Bush would've fired the custodial staff and kept the CEO. quote:
If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved? How did the war in Iraq affect the national debt? Of course Bush's administration didn't even have the honesty to include those costs in the budget. quote:
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved? Would the never-ending war have caused that doubling or worse? quote:
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 5 months -- so you'll have three years and seven months to come up with an answer. Done! Hopefully now I can have the next 43 months to myself, free from anymore silly questions.

If Obama needlessly wastes 5000 US solders and 500,000 Iraqi by starting and loosing two wars after they have already been won, I guarantee you we won't reelect him for a second term.

Believe me, I don't envy anybody's anything, though if it makes you feel better to think that, go for it. It's not wealth envy to criticize favoring wealthy people or to want a fair deal for workers. Actually I've found the wealth wannabees usually adore the rich to the point where they will defend anything a person does as long as he/she has tons of money. Is there a difference between "classic" wealth envy and plain old wealth envy?

It's not wealth envy to criticize favoring wealthy people or to want a fair deal for workers. A fair deal? How about you go to work for one of the wealthy people you seem to dislike so much, you put in the required hours and they pay you a pre determined and agreed upon amount? That sounds pretty fair to me. quote:
Actually I've found the wealth wannabees usually adore the rich to the point where they will defend anything a person does as long as he/she has tons of money. Actually, only a stupid person would do that. If the person has acquired their wealth through means that are ethically or legally questionable, that is certainly not something to be admired...

Yet any time the issues of workers' rights comes up, conservatives start screaming. Lilly Ledbetter, anyone? Pollution's another good one. How many conservatives have been at the forefront of that movement? -Dan.

Can you be a little more specific as to what we aren't providing solutions to?

quote:
If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference Here, I guess "get through" means the same sort of thing as "graduated" does to a child who passes from a Compton or South Bronx middle school to a Compton or South Bronx high school. Sorry, but Stephen Colbert, the man with probably the most finely tuned rapier wit on planet earth, uses a teleprompter for 4/5ths of his show. That in and of itself does not show incompetence. quote:
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved? Yes. The more we allow the president to live the life of a high-roller, the less he will bow down to lobby groups. quote:
If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?... Read More Unions always should have had a majority share, and GM pwned themselves. My grandfather worked for GM his whole life after the war, and even my Grandma (he died a few years ago) says GM bought it, even though her livelihood was adversely affected. quote:
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved? Yes. Jokes at his own expense got old. quote:
If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved? This was, frankly, stupid on Obama's part. Although, I don't know how much he could have known that Brown would go so over the top. It's like you meet a friend who had given you $50 for Christmas every year, and this year they decided to give you a Lexus. What gives? quote:
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky? No. quote:
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved? It depends. If he did it in exchange for throwing the American people to the Saudis like Lot's Daughters to the mob, and in exchange for French kissing every Saudi in sight, yeah, I think I would. quote:
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip? If Stephen Hawking said that Africa was a country, it would be a mistake. If Sarah Palin does it, it's stupidity. The same applies here. quote:
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved? Better not to pay taxes then to steal ours with no-bid contracts. I don't think anybody in Obama's Cab owed $10billion in taxes. quote:
If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is? Yes, because it establishes a pattern. As in my previous example, one or two mistakes doesn't make you a moron, but being a non-stop waste of life from cradle to grave does. quote:
If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite? It depends. Did George W. Bush ever claim to be a Christian before killing 25,000 people? quote:
If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11? No. I would have wondered when New Yorkers lost their stones. quote:
If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence? Only of BO flew low over the Midwest for a photo op first. quote:
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved? No, and I don't approve of Obama doing this either. Now, if Obama had gone on to place the CEO and every living relative of his in Guantanamo bay for the rest of their lives, then I might have approved. quote:
If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved? Most of that two centuries of debt was accrued under Bush. quote:
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved? Only if he actually did it. Oh, wait... Aaah. I do approve. -Ross The nine most terrifying words in the English Language are: "I voted for George Bush in two thousand four."

Probably because he didn't feel the need to be continually in front of cameras and the media. quote:
