McCain Adviser: Terrorist Attack Would Help McCain in Election
June 23, 2008 4:05 PM

McCain adviser Charlie Black told Fortune Magazine that national security events help Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

"The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December was an 'unfortunate event,' says Black. 'But his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who's ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us.' As would, Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue, another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. 'Certainly it would be a big advantage to him,' says Black."

Story here

Anyone still doubt that the republicans will stop at nothing to get their man elected? What saddens me, however, is the "christians" who see nothing wrong wrong with this type of behavior.

How are they "stopping at nothing"? What "behavior" are you referring to? I think it's a well-known fact that the Repubs are "strong on terrorism" and if an attack were to happen, people would look to the hard-lined stance taken by Repubs to solve the problem.

Objectively, what's incorrect about it? Nothing in that statement says that anyone would attempt to stage a terrorist attack to get elected.

I'm probably one of the most conservative people on this board and the thought of another terrorist attack prior to the election frightens me because it would probably get Obama elected! As long as there are no more attacks, McCain can say "See, Bush's policies are working. No more attacks." However, if there is an attack, Obama can say "See, Bush's policies are not working because we had another attack."

I have long feared that the leftists in the Democratic Party would stage an attack just to get Obama elected.

Ironically, I have believed that the REPUBLICANS would stage an attack right before the election just to get McCain elected. I can't say with any confidence that it still wouldn't happen.

Well I guess at this point if it does happen, we're all going to be seeing a lot more threads opened in the conspiracy theory folder!

LOL
Ain't that the truth!
More serious note, I would not want to see another terrorist attack.
Who does?
DC is full of concrete barriers and security is increased whenever someone sneezes (okay, that's an exaggeration, but that's how it feels).

I think I read somewhere (don't quote me on this) that DC area has the most law enforcement personnel per 100,000 residents of any metropolitan city.
Actually, that wouldn't surprise me, we're swimming in police officers of every agency...FBI, Capitol Police, National Park Police, Secret Service, then every federal agency has its own security and police force...then not to mention all the local police.ack.

I have to admit, when I see something like this all I can think of is 'Nutcase'. I would think this if it was a Republican proposing such a notion about Democrats, or vice versa, because if this could happen without us knowing about it, then the elections, our government, and our nation are essentially be a sham, and we should be arguing for a revolution, not a new President.

How true that is! The sad thing is that these opinions can be routinely witnessed in aforementioned Conspiracy threads!
