The Appearing
He speaks and his voice feels like waves sweeping into me easing the cataclysm of fear within. Yes, I’ll call this fearful trembling because the split second I saw him the light exploded in a burst of radiance more intense than countless suns. I didn’t see his form, only the pure white light of a brilliant outburst which immediately knocked my feet from under me. Lying face down, I shut my eyes quickly covering them with my hands, trying to hide from the power I knew was advancing towards me and soon would be standing in front of me. Bands of pulsating light slowly began to envelope me, beginning at my head and soon surrounding the entire length of my body like a cocoon and I knew this power could constrict, crush and kill me or protect me and promote life and health. As that power scanned me I knew that all my sins were revealed before the presence of absolute purity and holiness. I felt this pulsating rhythm on all the exterior parts of my body. Amazingly I discovered the fiery “cocoon” actually had the sound of a man breathing.
The moment had come. I had waited a life time, always longing for the day I would see him. I prayed and dreamed of what it would be like to gaze for the first time on the one I had loved and followed. I was certain I would know him and I’d recognize him like a long lost dear friend. Instead of being certain I was afraid until his breathings swept into me. Now not only did I hear and experience that fiery rhythm outwardly but interiorly the breathings became a voice, the voice brought wave after wave of calmness, soothing the first layer of trembling fear and then another and yet another layer.
“My beloved!”
The voice was familiar. I knew immediately the matchless voice of Jesus. There is no voice on earth like his.
“I have come for you!”
His voice lay like a hand gentle upon my heart.
“Fear not! It is I, Jesus!”
“Jesus” and my heart is a burst of sunray and a fragrant garden full of flowers. Without thinking I open my eyes while laying prostrate in my living cocoon, so aware that what is enveloping me has not come to destroy me. Oh I am loved and more alive than ever as I see the feet of Christ captured in my gaze. His feet sink in a golden cloud, a luminous mist. Polished bronze they are and at the center of each foot the rose of every longing. His wounds emit a rosy hue of light and command adoration. I know that every person that gazes on those wounded feet will long to worship and will wish to die a thousand deaths if they are prevented from doing so. To lay a cheek just briefly on one foot is pure paradise. At the revelation of his feet there is an irresistible attraction. A person would be happy to crawl in humility to be near the feet of Jesus. If heaven only was being consumed by the vision of one foot of Jesus this would be eternal bliss.
Never mind lifting my head and approaching my lips to kiss the wounds…I am helplessly immersed in the power of love and all I can do is lay and gaze and feed on the exquisiteness of each foot.

That's beautiful. Is that a dramatized Bible passage, like the resurrection of Lazarus or something? Thanks,

Great writing.
Can you imagine what it would be like if Jesus appeared today, in this modern world?
Like you, I imagined it and wrote a book about it (see below). I doubt that many people would welcome Him. The world has become too hardened to believe any more.
