Sort of the flip side to the "Looking Forward" thread. Are there any movies coming out that make you cringe at the very thought?

For me, it's the new INDIANA JONES movie. I had anticipated it for so long, but then I saw a few clips from it, and all hopes were dashed. Because the action sequences I saw were all CGI rendered. And CGI, to me, spells doom for an action picture.

It sank the last DIE HARD movie, as well as the previous two James Bond outings......simply put, computer generated action sequences are BORING. Because the human eye can too easily recognize when something doesn't look quite "right", and suddenly you're shocked back out of the moment.

Give me a good, well executed stunt over some guy sitting and clicking a mouse at his computer console any day.

Sorry, Indy, but I think I'll pass this time....

The Birds.
A remake of Alfred Hithcock's masterpiece film.
Didn't the studios learn anything when the tried that idea with Pyscho remake only to see the movie bomb?

Well that was more of a bomb because Gus Van Sant was experimenting with replicating a film, which I would think is different than remaking one. While I'm not looking forward to 2009's The Birds, I think that it could be a great film. Granted, some remakes are unneeded and/or awful, but there are others that are great. Hitchcock himself has remade other films, including some of his own.

I read that Speilberg was staying away from CGI as much as possible. I didn't really see any CGI in the trailer either, apart from the bizarre looking fake background in one of the sequences.

Any action scene with Ford in it will have no CGI he made it clear that his stunts will be live action.

For James Bond i thought it was great, fail to see the CGI in it as it was mostly story and classy JB the way it was suppose to be.

As for Die Hard ive seen at least one of the olds ones and i think their all great.

Not looking forward to any more movies made by the pair who made Spartans and Super Heroes. Someone take their camera away.

Anything produced by Scary Movie, or any of it's writers.

They suck. Bad.

...any more of the horror/torture porn movies that have come out over the past several years.

You know, the movies where the whole premise is...I'm going to kill you -- for fun -- as slowly, messily, scarily and painfully as possible. How can a decent person sit through this kind of thing?!?!?

Aren't there any more Forrest Gump movies to come along?

Speed Racer.

I can't get past the fact that this was my brother's favorite cartoon when he was like, three years old. Back then we didn't call imported Japanese cartoons anime, and they weren't artsy, they were cheap cartoons with bad dubbing.

X-Files.

I want to believe, I really do. But I remember the mess that was the last two seasons, and that frightens me more than the episode with the freaks in rural Pennsylvania.

Is there still a Halo movie coming out? If so, I pick that one.

This can be a hard topic since most people promptly forget the movies they don't want to see. I couldn't think of any upcoming movies until I saw Prince Caspian, I am not so sure about The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Narnia 2010), I am not sure if I can put up Price Caspian for the entire movie, he drove me nuts in the movie Prince Caspian.

I think this thread would get more responses if it were not limited to future movies, but included old releases as well. Possibly even movies that one regrets watching. For me I have no interest in seeing Kill Bill vol. 2 and 3(?).
I regretted seeing Kill Bill vol. 1; I thought it was terrible.

I gotta agree with Sex and the City . Big woo. I don't get the appeal, for I tried watching an episode when it came on regular tv just to see what all the hubbub was about and other than not caring for the obvious not-very-moral material, I found it boring. Guess I'm not hip enough to appreciate it. And glad of it.

The Love Guru
Don't Mess With the Zohan

No interest in these WHATSOEVER, at any point.

What happened to comedies that were actually funny?

Those who weren't looking forward to Indiana Jones were right on about that. I can only say it was okay--definitely the worst out of the whole Indiana Jones movies. I was rather disappointed. It should have been great like the others, but all I can say is that those who loved Indiana Jones will be disappointed and feel their expectations were not met. I saw Sex and the City and liked it, however, it will mainly appeal to those who liked the series. I only saw two men in the whole theater--they were with women--either they were one of the straight guys who were closet fans, or were dragged by their significant others.

Those movies I am not looking forward to: Don't Mess with the Zohan--I don't really like the stupid, zany type comedies, so anything along that line I would not be interested in. I also don't really care for the majority of Hollywood remakes or those who are based on books--they often ruin it.

I'll say Mamma Mia! because of its inappropriate adult themes, plus there's a haunting story behind the franchise.

A while back, Serena (my voice teacher) and I talked about things that haunt us. I told her I had been haunted by missing Cooper River Bridge Run XXX because of a stomach virus; I paid my entry fee and didn't run the event or obtain the little prize for the anniversary event. (I ran XXXI, but none of the hoopla of XXX or the awards for running were there. I feel cheated from not doing XXX.) I told Serena I wanted to take my own life (if you've known the two of us, you will know the story because it was a Menotti opera which she was the tragic heroine, and because of the suicide scene in the opera, we had to postpone a lesson -- that incident has been part of the stories between the 30-year old soprano and 32-year old tenor.).

But Serena has been haunted by her nightmare of her own, and it was costly.

A month prior to the Bridge Run fiasco, she had tickets to a touring production of Mamma Mia! in the area and purchased two tickets -- one for her, one for her oldest voice student (she's 25 years older than me; another singer is three years older than me).

Alas, Serena fell sick and Donna couldn't go with her. She didn't know I was wanting tickets too -- I went on my own dime. Donna would have worked with Serena to say, "Serena, can I use the tickets with Bobby if you can't go?"

Turns out Debbie (friend at church) was there too.

The disgusting theme at the end irritated Debbie and myself (we talked about it after church that ensuing Sunday). That theme promoting deviancy is the big reason I'm not happy with the movie because it glorifies the same troubling theme.
