i voted new only if you plan on keeping the vehicle after its paid off. I drive too much to have a lease. I like to be the ownly owner because I know which maintenance has been done and I am pretty good at doing it at the required times.

I've only had one brand new car - and it's the lease I have currently (someone got it for me). I will be purchasing it after the lease. Then, I will trade it in on the car that I really want - and that will be brand new - as I intend to keep it for many years.

We used to go with 2 years or older. Now days I don't trust used dealers with all of the auctions. And I don't trust CarFax either. I bought a used pick up and the report was completely wrong. Since then I have decided it is new or nothing.

That was it probably has been properly maintained.

I go for "paid for in cash". both of our vehicles are 18 years old and are wonderful.

I've only had two cars, both used. Got both for a killer deal because of circumstances. For instance, my current car is a 2004 Acura RSX Type-S. With the features and all of that good stuff, this car sells new in the mid to upper 20k range. I got it in 2006 with 30,000 miles on it (similar milage RSX-S's sold for $17-$20) for $11k. It had been wrecked, and no one could provide me with a history of the car, so I worked it out where I could drive it for a week or so before buying to self-inspect everything. Looked nice so I got it. The sticker says this car gets 31 mpg EPA, but I average 37 mpg (probably because I short shift and do a ton of interstate driving). Since October 2006 when I bought it, I have got from 30,000 miles to 90,000 miles, and haven't had a problem yet... except for the pot hole that knocked my bumper cover loose. I need to fix that. lol, I plan to drive this car until it dies.

one that is paid off and will get me back and forth safely to where I am going. currently I drive a car that is 8 year old, with no power steering, an electrical short, 173,000 miles, and the fan works sometimes, and sometimes not, with the lights(all part of the electrical short). it still passes emissions and is paid off. so I keep driving.

Right now I am thinking that I would like one that is pulled by horses!
