ORIGINAL: Showtime2585 Some pretty good choices here to say the least. I see a lot of people mentioned Napoleon Dynamite...I have to agree, what is the appeal of that movie? Stupid me, I tend to buy a lot of dvd's and I heard so many good things about that movie so I went out and bought it thinking it would be worth it, boy was I wrong. It seemed to horribly drag halfway through and I maybe only slightly laughed once. Waste of a movie and a waste of an hour and half or however long it is. The dvd itself will make a permanent paper weight as far as I'm concerned or bond fire material. When I saw the movie at the theater, I wasn't impressed at all, but strangely, it seemed to grow on me *after* I'd seen it, almost as if the memory of it was better than watching it. I don't think it was made to be a laugh-out-loud movie -- it has a very quirky and understated sense of humor and I think that's why so many people had so much trouble with it. It's not the greatest movie of all time, but it's definitely not the worst. But then, almost all of the movies mentioned in this thread don't come close to qualifying as the "worst movie ever." Changing the title of the thread to "Movies I Hated" would make it more accurate.

Day after tomorrow was just ok.snakes on a plane I didn't even watch because the previews look so stupid. quote:
ORIGINAL: c_h_b Under the condition of big budget/hype, and that I have seen: toss up between... Day After Tomorrow Snakes on a Plane There are others that are as bad, or worse, but didn't meet the big budget/hype criteria. (Anyone ever see "Fortress of Amerikkka" or "Deep Star Six"?)

Worst movie ever? Easy. That has been settled for a long time. It is called "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and included Bella Lugosi, who died during the filming of it, so they used "archive footage." This has been judged the worst movie of all genres since the 1960s. So far nothing has really even come close.

This is a toss up between two musicals: Godspell and The Wiz. Godspell is about a bunch of hippies who think they are Jesus, John the Baptist, and Jesus' disciples. This may or may not have been due to drug overdose. Throughout the course of cleaning up a garbage dumb and visiting various buildings, they sing and dance about Bible verses . Both "The Chief" from Carmen Sandiego and the evil lawyer from Legally Blond are in this movie. In the end the hippy who thinks he is Jesus is tied to a fence and shakes himself to death. In The Wiz a women is swept out of Harlem into Dante's 9th level of Hell. As for the rest of the story, I didn't understand most of the words, so I don't remember too much (probably for the best). I do remember some garbage cans that were monsters in a subway and a group of dancers singing about the floor changing color for about 20 minutes. At the end a bunch of people started to strip off clothing in celebration of something and we had to fast forward. Again, the characters may or may not have been using drugs. Yes, I'm afraid I have seen both. Now that you have been warned, please don't make the same mistake.

There are quite a few. When I was a kid I saw "It's Alive." Mel Gibson had a dog of a movie in the 90's, I think htat it was called "Payback."

Open Waters was one of the most horrible films I have ever seen. Very much a waste of time and now they have a sequel to it.

1.) Chicken Little. 2.) Lady in the Water. Cheaper By the Dozen doesn't compare to those two movies. Those ones are far worse. quote:
1. GRINDHOUSE (seems like the blasphemous golden boy of hollywood has come down to earth). 6. FREDDY GOT FINGERED (CITIZEN KANE OF BAD MOVIES) Ugh. I've seen Citizen Kane and can see a bit of why it is a critic's favorite and has a cult following. With that said, I don't like CK. If FGF is the CK of bad movies, then I'll take your word for it. Grindhouse is just plain disgusting and I put it up there with Hostel. I can't believe though that XMen is up on that list. For shame!

I have no idea what this movie is called but it is the dumbest most boring movie and what is worse is that a group of us kept saying how dumb it was but wanted to watch til the end to see if it even had a point. some ballet movie with Neve Campbell from Party of Five.

Napolean Dynamite is partially redeemed by the fact that his dance was used as the basis for the male Blood Elf dance in World of Warcraft. Or maybe that's even more condemning...depends on your point of view. Godspell the movie took a wonderful play and dumbed it down by totally misunderstanding what made the play work so well. Thanks to the ease of Netflix, I can add "Aeon Flux" to my list.
