Hi Grace-in-Mercy!

Glad to meet another red head! I travel for pleasure, mostly for art, culture, food, and music, but also for nature.

My favorite place of all is Italy, where I go whenever I can. Rome, Venice, and Florence are amazing beyond words! I also love Berlin, Paris, Barcelona and London. I've been all around the Mediterranean: Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Greece, Spain, southern France.

Only been a bit to Asia: Beijing and Tokyo. I would like to see the Great Wall though. And I am going this winter to Antarctica for the first time, just so I can say I've been there! Our winter is summer there, so it's comparatively warm.

Oh, wow!

That's really cool (pun!).

You HAVE done a lot of traveling! I've always wanted to go to Rome, France, and Indonesia, but my traveling is limited to business travel right now and I'm enjoying it immensely.

I think we have a travel thread around here somewhere and a few other travelers... Just find a few threads and jump on in.

Name: Leanne

Location: Missouri

How long have you been posting/lurking?: Only a few weeks

What do you enjoy doing?: reading, working out, playing sports, watching movies, going to church, listening to music, rock climbing (though I don't do it anymore but can't wait till i'm at a place in life I can!), i also enjoy writing occasionally... can't think of anything else.

Tell us a little about yourself:
I'm 32, divorced and I have two daughters (14 and 5). I am not a new believer, but I just recently stopped my backsliding ways! I have returned to college to pursue my secondary education degree (mathematics). My life is very busy and I have more interests than I have time to fiddle with!

Welcome Leanne!

Yay! A fellow math lover. I'm trying to get my teaching certificate for 5-9 math, and then secondary science.

When Prairiehiker sees the rock climbing and stuff - she'll love talking to you about that!

I have more than just a few friends in MO. In fact, one of my most favorite people in the world lives in Columbia, and works at UM Extension.

Thanks for the welcome! You are a very special person to be going for math at the middle school level! Oh my I couldn't imagine a roomful of teenagers like my own... I think they'd haul me out and take me to a padded cell! LOL Someone's got to do it though and God bless you for it!

I have never been able to climb a real rock (other than stuff at johnson's shut ins) but i've done the rock walls but ONE DAY!! just can't wait

I live a ways south of st louis. I have a cousin that lives over in columbia or did... i can never keep track of where in the state she is! she's a singer/radio personality type.

oh yes, my daughter had that last year. They put her in algebra for this year (8th grade). she was like "MOM!! THEY GAVE ME ALGEBRA AND I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE PRE-ALGEBRA!!" I had to calm her down and explain to her that it was probably a blessing she wasn't put in pre-algebra... which really has little to do with algebra at all. everytime i look at a pre-algebra book i think "uhh what is all this junk?!?" LOL

Oh, nice!!! There are two people who used to post a lot who live in near Sikeston. Very cool!

With the math - I figure catch them early enough BEFORE they start getting into bad habits. Hey, if I can influence even just a few, then I will be a very happy camper.

I used to live in Southern Illinois (Carbondale area) so I'm familiar with Sikeston. We used to go to Lambert's all the time.

Now we go to the one in Foley AL. I love it.

I love the Lambert's in Springfield too!! I usually go there when I drive up to see my BFF, she lives really close by it. We always seem to get a waiter who can't throw very well, or maybe it's that I can't catch all that well...

what exactly is a throwed roll? i heard mention of ozarks and sikeston and did some googling ... i have some relatives moving that way to start a church soon and will probably visit them occasionally although they are trying to recruit me to move too ... i hope there is no ten second rule if the roll? hits the ground

they bring out trays of fresh baked rolls and holler that they're out. you get the guy/gal's attention and get ready to catch one! low clearance and sometimes you gotta watch your head if you're in the crossfire. its a great atmosphere, lots of fun. normally if you don't make the catch they toss you another.

edit - the ozarks/springfield is a great area! springfield is my favorite smaller big town! maybe i'm biased because of all the family i have there, but people are just down homey and nice. lots of old timey type stuff to do and see there too. my parents have a house in gallaway (near springfield) that we inheirited i always hoped to buy the house from them and move there. LOL probably not going to happen now that i have another house though!

Well, you know what a dinner roll is, right? The servers at Lamberts don't hand you the dinner rolls; they throw them at you. Usually from across the room and usually pretty hot.

Google Lambert's: Home of the Throwed Rolls and you'll understand.
