That doesn't sound like fun. I'll pray that you can get to your doctor sooner.

Well, the flood finally stopped (or at least slacked off) today. My doctor called in a prescription for Yaz, so I'm hoping that will help. I got a message about all this but am going to have to call back AGAIN to schedule an appointment after I was told they'd see if they could get me in sooner. Grr! I hate it when I call and talk to one person, then have to call back again and talk to someone else.

I've noticed that one time when I had a period where the blood was really dark and thick (I hadn't had one for like 3 months, maybe more) it had a strong odor. It was just different. It had me worried though.

Period was 2 weeks late for the first time in my life and I am now flowing like a river. Ugh. I guess at age 48 I can say "here I go." I needed this thread. Thanks.

ORIGINAL: flowerz My doctor said I should drink soy milk for my mild hot flashes. Has any one drank soy milk to reduce hot flashes, did it work? Yes, but I drink it because I am lactose intolerant. quote:
Does it taste like normal milk? Not really. However, the vanilla flavor is OK. I don't think it's OK at all! But I do like the chocolate flavour (or the banana or strawberry if I can't get the chocolate)

ORIGINAL: MamaMilty Roberta, why did your dr. advise against Sam-e? 1- Because of some of the other meds I'm on. 2- There really isn't a lot of research done about it. Just because the FDA allows something to pass, that doesn't make it safe. ETA- I'm not saying you shouldn't take it. I'm just saying that you shoud make your dr. aware that you are taking it.

So, am I the only crazy person with preschoolers in her 40's? It seems so odd to me to have spent last half of my 30's pregnant and/or nursing only to go straight into this. Well, I'm 28, not 40, but I'll be going from pregnant to postpartum to surgical menopause over the next 4 months, and hopefully keep nursing through it all. My kids will be 8.5, 7.5, 3.5, 21 months, and 2 months when I have a hysterectomy. So yeah...if we must be crazy, at least we'll have company.

You'll have a lot of threads to keep up with Donna! I have a preschooler, hormonal teenage girls, and a ten year old boy. You'd think all of our cycles would have synced by now, but they haven't. My cycles are still pretty regular, but they take longer to start somehow. So I'm waiting.... Dee

I have three teens, thankfully two out of the three are "easy" kids. My cycles are pretty regular too. My doctor told me to drink the soy milk. I bought the vanilla flavor and and first I didn't like it, but it seemed to get better each time to the point of it being ok. If I bought it again, I'd try another flavor. I had my first mammogram last month and I have a lump, so I'm not going to be drinking any soy milk for a while. It's expensive anyways.
