Johan's been my one bright spot this year. It was nice to see a rare comeback win. Now I've got three tough games with the red hot Dodgers.

Well...I wish your Mets luck! My Red Sox did nicely this weekend...sweeping those Rays. I have no idea why we couldn't do that in Tampa Bay though...

Well, the Atlanta Falcons beat my Cincinnati Bengals, I mean the Braves beat the Reds, 14-7 yesterday, completing a 3-game sweep. That puts the Reds 8 games under .500, and in last place, 7.5 games behind the Cards. And to top it all off, they've got the Cubs coming in for 2 games with Z-Man and Ryan Dempster pitching for them. I guess it's going to be a lo-o-o-o-ng summer in the Queen City!

Duane, at least you have Junior's #600 to look forward to. That'll be something to celebrate.

He seems to be a good fit for the Reds right now, but time will tell. I'm a bit disappointed in something I heard the other night as I listened to the broadcast; the Reds previous GM was told to sign Corey Patterson "at any price" - even though they had a Dusty Baker-type ballplayer already on the roster in Ryan Freel. I know that Dusty manged Corey in Chi-town, but it was as if he wasn't even gonna take a look at Ryan. If he'd come into the Spring with an open mind about Freel, maybe the Reds wouldn't have spent the money on Patterson. Not that he's playing badly right now - he isn't - but I might have done things a bit differently.

I can't believe that the Reds actually beat the Cubbies! Who says miracles don't happen anymore?!

I don't get Reds fans obsession with Freel. He is below average defensively, and even worse offensively. He is a utility player, at best, not a starting center fielder.

Volquez has been great, but they would have been better off keeping Josh Hamilton.

My yanks are not doing that great right now but a lot of the players are hurt right now. Hope they come back healthy.

The Jays have been playing well so far except for tonight when they lost to Tampa.

i had doubt since spring training that posada just had a dead arm that would come alive and he'd be fine. i think something is really wrong as evidenced by them finally placing him on the dl. i do hope i'm wrong, but i don't expect him to contribute this year but i think they'll still make the playoffs.

Yeah, but the Giants don't have the lineup I do. The Mets are supposed to be this really scary offensive machine, and instead they're hitting somewhere around the Mendoza line. And yet Willie Randolph trots out the same lineup every day. And don't even get me started about the bullpen, or the number 2 through 5 starters!

I hope Posada will come back soon as well. First time ever that he has been on the DL. I think the yanks will be fine as well. Glad the injurys are happening now instead of later in the year. Also it sounds like A-Rod will be comeing back this week as well.

The Jays are not looking good right now. They are loseing 9-0 to Cleveland right now. Plus Wells is injured.

you do realize posada wasn't among the 89 players named in the mitchell report? do you have a source for posada and steroid use or just wanting to slander someone?

Have you seen his stats for last year? He had a batting average of .338! His highest previous BA for his career was .287 8 years ago when he was just entering his prime. He was 36 last year...that's 3 years past his prime... His slugging percentage last year was .970 which was 27 points higher than the year he hit .287. People 3 years past their prime just don't have a career year without some kind of 'help'. And is it any coincidence that he's got a 'dead arm' this year? I think not...

And since when did anyone claim that the Mitchell Report was a comprehensive 'outing' of everyone who ever used steriods in MLB?

so basically you're just a rumor weed he certainly had a great year but you are twisting stats to your argument and your claim is simply laughable and sad

That's a pretty serious accusation to make based on one year's stats. Sometimes guys actually have career years without using "help". Roger Maris comes to mind immediately. 61 dingers in 150 games. How about Bob Gibson's 1.12 ERA? Or Denny McClain's 31 wins? Should we test Junior for hitting 600 career homers? How 'bout A-Rod? He's over 500 already and he's still a young man? Why not give the guy credit for a great season and leave it at that?

And lest you think I'm defending Posada because I live near NYC, let me remind I'm lifelong Mets fan.

Uh, Bill? Remember that two game winning streak the Reds were on . . . that you said wouldn't last? Well, it's three games now and I'm feeling very faint right now. . .
