LRBB -> The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/14/2008 10:56:10 PM)

I've noticed threads devoted to other groups so I figured I'd start one for the Kingdom Heirs. Discuss all things Kingdom Heirs. What's your favorite KH song, album, lineup or whatever.

zmanfan38 -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/14/2008 11:03:14 PM)

I have a favorite with a bit of a story behind it. We're friends of one of the former members of the group, David McGill. It was the line up that included David that put out the old song Test of Time. We went to church with David for over a decade (my hubby was his assistant music minister) and the three of us sang that song many times together at church. What a thrill!!! He still sounds wonderful! My hubby always joked around with him about singing one of the verses and David always gave him a look and said "this is my song, boy".[:D]

One of my all time favorite Kingdom Heirs songs. I had the privilege of seeing the Kingdom Heirs for the first time back in the late '80s when David was still in the group. I have every recording they've done since 1987. They have always been among my favorite quartets. It is hard to pick one favorite recording, they constantly produce top notch recordings. Song of my favorite songs through the years include:

Depths Of The Father's Love
Forever Changed
He Had To Rise
He's Already In Your Tomorrow
I Can See Heaven
I Go To The Rock Of Ages
I've Been Rescued
The King's Back Home
Test Of Time
That Very Moment
What We Needed

Dinana -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/15/2008 7:22:05 AM)

Those are some good ones. I'm glad to see you've listed my favorite - He's Already In Your Tomorrow.

LRBB -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/15/2008 10:47:35 AM)

Test of Time is among the songs that I'd like to see the Kingdom Heirs redo with their current lineup. Along with:

I'm Gonna Rise
Extraordinary Grace
Christian Family
That Very Moment
Be Of Good Cheer
Basics of Life

BRBB -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/15/2008 2:22:51 PM)

I really can't decide which lineup is my favorite. I like both Jodi Hosterman and Billy Hodges. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I will say that Arthur Rice and Jeff Chapman are my favorite on lead and bass.

Joe_9 -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/15/2008 6:47:59 PM)

You can't beat Billy Hodges with a stick. I also like Authur Rice and the old bass Eric Bennett. Some of my favorite songs are Healer of the Heart, Anchor of Hope, I've Been Rescued, and He Lifted Me. There are so many songs I like from them that it would take days. The Kingdom Heirs are my favorite Southern Gospel Music groups. :)

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/15/2008 6:52:31 PM)

I love the group. Billy is an amazing tenor singer. Arthur is about as good as you can get.

I think the new piano player well, him, Kim Collingsworth, and Andrew Ishee are my fave piano players.

isn't many songs I don't love by Kingdsom Heirs.

I have to say though. True To The Call is my fave song. Diane Wilkinson wrote a gem there. I love it and to hear Steve tell the reason why she wrote it for him to sing is an awesome testimony. if haven't heard was written for Steve's son who answered his call to preach God's word.

Well I'd say that Billy Hodges is finer then frog hair.

BRBB -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/15/2008 9:36:29 PM)

I have a question for someone. My oldest brother has been going to see the Kingdom Heirs at Dollywood since the mid to late 80's. He remembers a bass
singer for them singing "How Great Thou Art". Do any of you know who he's talking about or could he be mistaken? He said he was kind of short and heavy. { I don't mean any offence,thats just how he describes him}

dbmurray -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/16/2008 12:27:19 AM)

We're opening for them next Thursday in Rutherfordton, NC. I'll ask if they have a new CD on the way when I see them.

MsJudy -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (2/16/2008 10:52:00 AM)

I guess you could say I love those guys. I had asked Steve long ago if they would sing at my 'home-going' and he said yes, but also asked me not to plan on going soon! LOL. So this past November when I got real sick, I knew Steve would read about it or hear about it. So I called him from my hospital bed just to tell him not to go out and buy any new suits for the guys, and not to plan on coming to SC anytime soon, cuz I wasn't going anywhere {even though I really thought I was}! And as a lead singer, they don't come any better than Arthur Rice, IMO. Jeff is Awesome on bass. Billy is good on tenor, but all of you know I'm not going to pretend that Jodi Hosterman isn't, nor wasn't my favorite. And I don't mean that as a put-down to Billy cuz it isn't. I just came to know Jodi so much better, and became very close friends with him. And Steve French is a Great baritone singer. My husband loves to hear Steve sing, so do I. He has a very smooth voice. I just love those guys. I'm having surgery Monday, but I'm praying hard that I'll be able to go see them Thursday night in Rutherfordton.

You got that right. Andy Stingfield is outstanding.

PraiseHymn Gospel Quartet had the priviledge of opening up for them at their concert in Lake Wales Fl 2 weeks ago. What a wonderful time we all had. On top of an awesome concert, the guys were so encouraging to us as a group. That is one of those nights we will never forget!

I LOVE the Kingdom Heirs!

Currently I think they produce the all-around-best Southern Gospel music in the industry. Their energy and songs actually remind me a little of the GC glorydays with Jay Parrack and Tim Riley (and a full band). It just doesn't get any better than "What We Needed" and "Now I Am On My Way To Heaven."

Currently in my Itunes Top 25 Most Played, the Kingdom Heirs hold all 3 of the top spots with "Let's Make a Baby King," "I Want You To Know" and "What We Needed." [:)]

They're definitely one of my favorite (possibly becoming my very favorite) group.
