Betty, four posts, and I can already tell: You are SUCH an ENCOURAGING person, a JOY to hear from! Just reading your posts make me breathe deeper and feel lighter! It seem like you are the kind of person who makes a positive difference, so keep it up! As for confessions: Kebab dinner today...., and I DIDN'T buy the digital bathroom-weight

I think I've lost another 1 or 2 lbs. It's been kinda fluctuating but I think I'm down to about 6 or 7 more pounds to go to reach my target weight!! Those are often the hardest though.

Betty - Yup, you are en encourager that's for sure!! And good for you for not wanting to throw in the towel after your small setback. It's so hard when you see an increase instead of a decrease on that scale. Good for you for persevering!! Keep it up!

I wish we could have a signature that would show up in only one thread. I'd love to have a weight loss ticker up - but only for this thread. Don't need everyone commenting on it!

Lost 2 pounds! It must have been from your kind words! Thanks! I want to be an encourager because we have too many "discouragers" including ourselves. To be honest I was happy to see the scales, but not when I looked in the mirror. So as a reminder to myself too, let us not be too hard on ourselves than we would be to a friend. ( I read that somewhere and thought it was a good thought). Think thin(thinner)!

I just finished a Behavior Change Project for my Social Science cluster at Lindenwood on weight loss. I want to loss another 20 pounds and keep it off. I have tried Weight Watchers before and lost 10 pounds but gained it back. I've been taking Advocare Supplements to assist me in losing weight and I also do personal training one day of the week for one hour. But it's not enough in mandaining and losing weight. I need to workout at least four to five times a week and eat healthy and stay away from sweets/calories. I've contacted a coach, thru work, who will be assisting me in this journey in losing weight. Hopefully, this will work for me.

Well good for you for taking the next step. Exercising more will help you with your weight loss. I might be down a pound. I am not sure what you mean by avoiding calories though. You need enough of them to provide you with energy.

Maybe she meant the sweets type of calories? ie stay away from bad calories.

Tricia3517= I was very interesting in reading your post about Behavior Change Project. Is it possible to share with us all some good points that you learn and that we all could apply to each of us who are trying to lose or manage our weight?

I have not. For me personally, as I'm already quite physically active - I don't think it would do much.

I've tried, but don't find exercise really helps with weight loss for my own body... that's not to say others don't have different metabolisms and you may do well with it. I find that food restrictions are the only way for me to lose a single pound, and then with great difficulty.

It depends on the type of yoga, but you usually don't lose weight with just yoga. It isn't usually that intense unless you are doing a power yoga or bikram type yoga. It does have other benefits though but I wouldn't rely on it to just lose weight. I find I need to do some intense cardio in order to lose weight. But I am a smaller person so I do burn less calories in that time frame than someone larger would. In other words, I need to do more than a 30 min walk.

I've lost ten pound this past month. I've been going on long walks (4-5 miles) and eating mostly meats and vegetables with little or no dairy, grain, fruit (only berries allowed), or fats/sugars. I found this diet in The Maker's Diet and chose it because of severe inflammation in my shoulder tht has been chronic for a year. So far, the pain is still pretty bad, but I'm not sticking to the diet daily, just a lot of meals. Three years ago, I was 135 lbs. I moved to help care for a widower's eleven children and married him a year later. You'd think I would loose weight, but with the junk food in the house (it's a lot cheaper to buy), I gained a total of 30 lbs in just 4 years. That's too much too fast. Perhaps due to my age as well, but I am not a happy camper! I am too limited in my duties with this much more weight, so I'm eating better and trying to squeeze in healthier foods for the whole family. Finding healthy, quick, cheap meals for a family of 13 (currently) is not easy! So anyway, I have 20 lbs more to go. I may have to use the mini-trampoline for 30 min. instead of walks soon. I hate the cold air of PA!!

Deb77-Congratulation! Thanks for sharing how you are doing and what methods you are doing to lose your weight! I have been told my a friend who has lost 30 to 40 pounds. She said that she started out by recording her foods that she ate through the day and with the amount of calories for each food item and exercises was jogging or walking about a lake or near her home. I have found that cutting back a little of my intake.

I've been losing the same 3 pounds for the last month. Very very frustrating. My frustration makes me think, "I'm not losing anyway so I might as well eat what I want." While my brain tells me, "NO, stick to the diet because eventually the weight has to come off." Then I constantly remind myself that it's a lot more than weight loss. It's my glucose levels and my energy levels.

I was down 19 lbs last I posted... and then... while still walking/strength training/swimming an hour or more per day and eating carefully for two weeks... I had lost nothing! In fact, I had gained a pound. Grrr. Well, I finally stepped on the scale today and saw a loss! Two pounds... which brings me to 20 total, which was my first goal. Now I want to get back under 200! Easy goal since I am only at 204 now. I was at a friend's looking at old pics the other day. I had thought I was so hideously fat at 150 lbs when I was 20ish at her wedding. This was the first time in years I had seen the wedding pics and I was shocked at how GOOD I looked. How could I have thought I was fat at that point?!? The fact that I had been comparing myself to my high school weight of 115, I guess, but I think it is so sad how our perspective can be so skewed. At that point I was so discouraged about how bad I thought I looked that I started a dangerous cycle of dieting that actually ended with my gaining weight... I wish I knew then what I know now... Tara

Thanks to the last two posters. My husband and I are trying to lose and weight and when you are being so careful and you see no change on the scales it makes you think " can't lose so eat and be happy" your words were timely! We are so thankful that you both wrote your thoughts so we could be encouraged. Thanks so much.
