Hey-J! Me too!

I have learned to 'enjoy' In The Garden. [sm=icon_smile_cry.gif]

I know that will probably be horribly offensive to some. But I truly don't understand the love people have for this song. And I'm a gardener! [sm=sadquestion.gif]

For my 50th birthday a friend gave me a copy of as many versions of In The Garden as she could find.[sm=popsigh.gif]

I don't like when a preacher says, "Turn to your neighbor and say________."

jbow -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/7/2008 9:42:36 AM)

And, why does it have to be in the open? Did not Jesus say something like don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing?

Yes He did but... the book of Acts tell's us that the people brought their money and laid at the apostles feet. That is a fairly public thing. The Annias and Sapphira story tell's us that these things were done openly. I think the point to the "right hand/left hand" story is that we should not do our giving with some sort of pride, to be seen to be giving. Giving in the open, as shown by the account in Acts, if it is done from a pure heart and for the right reason can be edifying to the body. Then if others have a problem with it maybe the Holy Spirit will cut their heart for having evil thoughts of envy and arrogance.

Anyway that is what I think because somehow we have to reconcile both stories unless you think that the early church was in error with the way they did their giving.

J

Yes!

Definitely one of my 'Churhianity' pet peeves.. I am writing a book on all of these things.

HisCovenant -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/7/2008 9:52:54 AM)

Here's another for your book:

I dislike it when the pastor says for everyone to join hands across the aisles. [:'(]

earthless -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/7/2008 9:58:35 AM)

Want to know what I really find shocking?

The lack of shock and disgust by members of this board to my posts in this thread.

There, is that better? [;)]

groovymovieman -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/7/2008 11:46:41 AM)

I used to throw water balloons at cars. I hit a cat or two as well.

CoeurdeLeon_ -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/7/2008 11:48:46 AM)

When someone would blame my brother (who was always doing bad stuff and lying about it) for something I did, I didn't correct them.[:o]

jkdjr25 -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/7/2008 11:57:02 AM)

I have the ability to anger people beyond reason by talking to them. Why God would grant me that as a gift is a tad beyond my reasoning abilities but I used to, and still do to some extent, take great pleasure in using that gift.

Of course that could just be arrogance on my part, but I'd like to think that its not.

laura... -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/7/2008 1:54:59 PM)

Billy Graham specials bore me.

dance4joy -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/7/2008 2:03:10 PM)

T.V. preachers in general bore me. . .either that or they annoy the heck out of me [:'(]
There's one (can't remember his name right now) who actually scares me. . .he looks like a character out of a Tim Burton movie.

Why do grown men wear shorts and flipflops to church? How many of you guys did I just sting? [8D]

This is just a theory of mine: I think it's because here in Hawaii it's just too hot for suits and ties, and the men like to air out their toes because covered shoes will make their feet stink and make a wonderful funky warm environment for foot fungus in the humidity. [sm=raisedbrows.gif]

LOL, 'LL'! What are friends for, but to harass and aggravate us as best they can!![sm=funny.gif]

I saw the 'Hey-J' and it looked so normal! I've used that one for about 3 years on that Garden Forum.
I should have used it here, too--I like it better![:)] Wanna 'Twizzler'??? I'll share!![;)]

I guess I'd better come up with another shocking revelation about myself-----I won the 'Litter-Bug' Poster contest
in the state of Florida when I was 12 years old! Does that count???[8|]

Possibly something to do with the fact that their feet are accustomed to wearing slippers (or "flip-flops") 24/7 and since they have all over ventilation for their feet they don't have to worry about stinky sweaty feet...just dirty feet. Therefore wearing covered shoes will make their over-active sweat glands between their toes hyperventilate in this tropical climate causing their outermost epidermic tissue that has been marinated in dirt for all their lives from wearing slippers to be swimming in a pool of sweat mingled with dirt-clustered-in-cracks of their heels....okay, you know what? I'm grossing myself out.
