Shocking Christian Revelations

Hi! All good Christians love to learn things that shock and awe us. We don't admit it but it is our human nature to be curious (maybe some more curious than others) and although this place is anonymous, you may not want to "spill the beans" so to speak but... some of you have been waiting forever for a thread like this.

Here are some sample intros.

I was once... or I once was...

Not long after I became a Christian...

One time...

I like to...

It was a dark and stormy night... (a favorite of mine)

I user to... but not anymore because...

This thread is based on the thread authored by Ruthie - Sometimes I hate the truth about me

earthless -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:29:19 PM)

I was once a tagger.. a graffiti guy that did large pieces in Chicago, NYC, Toronto.

Walker311 -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:29:45 PM)

I like a very cold beer every now and then. I like it enought to know without a doubt that if I were not grounded in my walk with the Lord, I would be drinking every day and possibly addicted.

We all like to feel good and if I did not have some type of governor, I would constantly be looking for something to make me feel good so I would probably not stop with a cold beer.

Thank you Lord!

earthless -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:32:15 PM)

I highly enjoy good ales, pints of darks, mojitos, caipirinha, home-made Sangria, red wines of all sorts..

Every now and then (usually only when on vacation) I like to enjoy one good (high quality) cigar.

*ducks*

EDITED to add that I am not disclosing this to "clear my conscience", I am perfectly at peace with the Lord when I enjoy the above items.

No! It should be funny, entertaining, touching, tear-jerking, weird, strange, sweet, cool, quirky, inspiring, and so on. If you can put all that in one post, you win a prize.

earthless -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:38:10 PM)

I highly enjoy:

The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Reno 911!, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, Big Love, The Wire, Dexter, King of the Hill, Entourage, 10 Items or Less, etc..

*GASP*

HisCovenant -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:38:20 PM)

I like to tackle dh when he doesn't expect it and broke one of his ribs once. [:o] For the next 6 weeks, he had to endure everyone wanting to know how he was injured. [:D]

Just recently I have had a craving for baby carrots and ranch dressing and just about every day after work I feast on them with no regrets... but have noticed my ears getting a little bigger and my front teething starting to buck out. I haven't look at my rear lately. [8D]

earthless -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:40:42 PM)

In my old church - there were many songs that I absolutely hated and would cringe during praise & worship - bad theology, too many repeats, etc..

Or the P&W songs that were SOO PLAYED out that I could bang my head on a brick wall rather than having to sing through it again and again... ARRGHHHH..

this thread is going to get me banned from this board....

CherishedbyGod -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:42:00 PM)

I am addicted to these forums...They are an escape for me

earthless -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:43:55 PM)

There were many times I would arrive at church and was so tired and burned out from the week... knowing I was going to preach that morning's message... and I did not want to shake everyone's hand or have to talk to everyone I came across before being able to get to my seat.

How horrible of me. I just did not want to, the flesh was like, "NO!! just leave me alone!! hello, goodbye, ok already..."

Walker311 -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:45:22 PM)

I drink so much coffee on Sunday mornings that at the end of the morning worship service, I don't wait for the last song to end before I make my way to the little boys room and don't care if everyone is staring at me.

earthless -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 6:47:42 PM)

Lord knows the countless times I would actually leave the sanctuary during P&W when certain people were in charge of the worship time.

I wouldn't come back in until after the singing.

I am horrible.

I once/still have a situation that fits all that criteria -- funny, entertaining, touching, tear-jerking, weird, strange, sweet, cool, quirky, inspiring and so on...but if I was to share on a public board I would set off a series of events that could possibly destroy the world. I call this daily life. [sm=eek.gif]

My silly daughter took a picture of half my head so I narrowed it down to a reflection of her in my one good eye way down on the white sandy beaches of GulfShores, Ala.

I'm not as hungry for the Word these days. Bad sign[&o]

I'm leading up to a big one, if I get up the courage[&:]

ta_mosquito -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 8:25:41 PM)

[editing out the first revelatin because I don't want it public for all time]

But even more shocking is one of my favorite snacks - tomato paste smeared on crackers, preferably Ritz-type crackers. [8D]

Walker311 -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/5/2008 9:03:18 PM)

You now how we all say... "I'll pray for you"?

I will definitely pray about both of these...

but I'd leave in a heartbeat, and I have to fight a bad attitude every time we go to services (which would be twice each Sunday

my favorite snacks - tomato paste smeared on crackers

Okay, Tricia! I'm finally shocked into responding----------tomato paste on crackers????[sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif][sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif][sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif] Gasp!!

I confess, that before my addiction to this forum, I was addicted to a garden forum, a 'hosta forum' to be exact.
There, I'm not nearly so reserved and serious! In fact, I was enlisted to come up with a graphic ( I've self-
taught myself some graphic arts with a Photo-shop program) that somehow demonstrated the idea of someone
who had implanted hosta seed into their scalp! These people had apparently been on the forum quite late, one
night and had gotten kind of giddy and silly and thought of that concept. They left me a thread titled, "Hey-J, (my
handle there) here's an assignment for you!" Here is me, with what I came up with! Be prepared it's a shocker!!!

Click Here!

I've already exposed 'LiveLoved' to this shame!! I don't think she's been the same since! [:o]

1love1God1way -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/6/2008 2:09:41 AM)

I am quite the fine of a nice cigar, and just about all the shows earthless mentioned. . .

I enjoyed the Da Vinci code and didn't cry when I watched The Passion of the Christ.

I'm just a bad bad Christian.

Care to share (perhaps in one of the relevant music threads) which songs were "bad theology"? I hear this all of the time, but have yet to see an actual example of a worship song that had bad theology... it is usually just a personal taste issue.

SonInMe1 -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/6/2008 5:47:48 AM)

I skipped church so I could sleep some to get up in the afternoon to watch my Giants in the playoffs.

I started smoking again...but hopefully that is done with since now I am sicker than a dead dog.

The occaisional toddy I had will probably end too since that is what caused me to start smoking again.

I've seen every spisode of the Sopranos. I watch wrestling. I eat too much. I haven't excersized in a couple months. I enjoy online poker ( no money involved ). I....gasp....buy lotto tickets.

deliveredarling -> RE: Shocking Christian Revelations (3/6/2008 5:55:38 AM)

I smoke, I sometimes cuss, I'm reading the lost books of the Bible. I'm protestant and studying the jewish religion-and happen to agree with a ton of stuff I have read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm more liberal than the church expects. I tell the truth, even when it hurts. There's reality and then there is window dressing.
