No, they go into the Hose-zone of course.

No, just the holes from the black ones.

This idea that the earth doesn't move is new to me, too. And I think it's quite bizarre.

It was a bit odd. When I first saw that post, I felt like the fisherman who caught a species of fish that everyone thought had gone extinct centuries earlier.

Then how do the stars in the sky change? Does the entire universe revolve around the earth? The earth is the only planet that does not move at all, like some floating disc out there?

dood

I've heard of taking things a little too far...but this is like the ultimate in science fiction.

I'm having trouble finding anybody that actually believes that the earth is flat. I'm sure someone is out there, but... where are they? I'm thinking that this whole "flat earth society" thing is just a casual jab made to make YEC's look silly.

Actually, there is some intriguing data that supports a geocentric view of the universe, so it's not as far-fetched as some of you are thinking. Personally, I believe mankind is the "center" of the universe because we are the focal point of God's Love. How all the astrophysics works out is really not crucial to that Truth!

uh huh...ok

But, I was referring more to the earth being still, no movement at all...and the rest of everything else as the only things moving.

You don't need science, just common sense to figure that out.

Of course, man being the center of his universe does actually feed into our selfish and sinful behavior so maybe ...

nah

Of, course, AIG would be on the leading edge.

It may feed into someone's "selfish and sinful behavior", but I personally find great joy and encouragement in serving the Lord as a redeemed saint knowing that He so loved the center of the universe that He gave His only Son to die for us!

Indeed, cow, Dr Humphreys is a brilliant astrophysicist, well-respected throughout his discipline. Thanks for the acknowledgement!

Whether that counts as 'geocentric' or not, redshift quantization is not well supported by the data. I think my favorite part of that is where Humphreys says of Figure 5 that the "Data are idealized." [i.e. made up]

Anyway, Humphreys is wrong when he says that "the phenomenon itself ... has survived a quarter-century of peer review." Later studies using far more objects showed no periodicity or 'quantization'.

Even ICR rejects geocentric nonsense. Being "well-respected" in YEC is hardly something to tout.

Well cow, if you would bother to read ICR literature instead of spouting off about it, you would quickly find Dr Humphreys' recent article on Creation Cosmology which readily supports the "center of the universe" argument. (cow opens mouth and inserts hoof)

Why does being the center of the universe have anything to do with how much God loves us? Would God love us any less if He has created millions of other worlds out there? Is He that small?

I'm sorry, Kristin, are you not getting this? God shows His Love to us by creating the world and us living in it to be His focal point or centerpiece of Love. The spatial orientation of earth in the universe is but one (rather insignificant) way He demonstrates mankind's centrality. In fact, the Bible says very little about it directly. But rest assured, the Bible says nothing about "millions of other worlds out there" with souls to be loved.

Well theoretically, it's probably at least possible that the earth is the only thing in the universe that's not moving at all, and everything else might actually be in motion, right? I'd have to wonder if physics could definitively prove otherwise.

Technically, any one of us could be the center of the unverse. In fact, when I walk, I am not moving, but instead, the earth is rolling aorund under me.

Whats there to prove? How do you think we transition from day to night? Its the earths rotation.
