Ben, would you feel better if I had called them educational libraries (as opposed to libraries for just books and such) and conference rooms? Maybe we could even combine the present libraries with present schools to put materials in the same place.
Hey, you're the one's who took over the world! Call them what you want. I just want my vouchers. Then I'll feel better.

Probably so I can send the first grader to your home school.

Or a private Christian school.

Or whatever this new power that y'all have in place deems is best.

It should.

And now that you HSers have taken over the world did you take care of the teachers unions and overpaid bureaucratic school administrators? Like send them to Siberia?

The bureaucrats are gone. They all work for a tuna fish canning factory located in Kansas.

The Teacher Unions are disbanded.

The talented teachers are now doing workshops in the educational libraries. Parents enjoy picking out their favorites, and signing up their kids to take workshops as needed or desired. They are now called educational facilitators, and get paid by the parents. They not only get to teach what they are best at, but they also have the ability to exspel disruptive students if needed. Many of the teachers had to find a different line of work altogether as they couldn't find anyone willing to send their children to them for even one class. The workshops in demand most are art, Music, and High level math and science. Parents are relieved not to have to buy or catch their own frogs to ummm... examine. The educational facilitator is loved by all as they work hand in hand with the parents for the good of the children.

Sounds like ellie has a plan.

Sending the bureaucrats to Kansas to can tuna was a kind gesture- I'd of put um on the tuna BOATS.

There was a time when the parents WERE the driving force in the schools and they were the ones that paid/picked the teachers.

There was a time before that that they hired the teacher and they lived in the home or came to the home to do the teaching.

There was a time before that when little Ugg sat at his papa's knee and was taught how to paint buffalo on the cave wall with mud and plant pigments.

No certified teacher taught little Ugg to paint that buffalo- his papa did and that buffalo is STILL on the wall and talked about all these years later.

I think all those red book avatars make you-all look kind of totalitarian. How about different style book covers?

Well, we got them all printed at the same publisher and got a HUGE discount for having them all done in the same binding.

Yeah, okay! We'll see come August!
Hey I love summer break as much as the next person!

You all have succeeded in convincing two teachers and possibly a 3rd not to return to their school in the Fall. Two are single women whom have secured DREAM jobs and have resigned from their Senior English teachers. The other is my neighbor and a math teacher at the same highschool. She is currently on maternity leave after the birth of her second child. She told me this past week that she is contemplating not returning next fall, that her dh just got a nice raise at his job and they could make it on his salary alone, if she took on two hours of tutoring a week. I would be thrilled for her if she could be home with her preschool and infant sons!

Blessings,

Garsy

We'll see if we really succeeded if they someday homeschool their own children.

We'll see - but at this point neither of the that have left the teaching field is even married and both are at least as old as I am. The third would be a great homeschooler quite honestly, and I would LOVE to keep her available for me to hire as a tutor should my kiddos need her as a tutor! She hates to bake so I would gladly pay her in baked goods! But of course it's none of my business either way HOW she choose to school any of her children now is it?! Their eldest will be 4 this coming September, so they have plenty of time to decide.

Okay you have all been busy little beavers!

May I say ---- QUIT IT!!!!!!

If you're wondering why I popped back in here - see my most current post in the public and private school chat thread.

You might be closer to world domination then you think. I'm not giving up tho. I'm not going to go down without a fight and there are plenty of other parents around here that will be fighting with me.

I'm okay - Just a bit frustrated and perturbed right now.

Blessings,

Garsy

Wow, how frustrating, Garsy. We have three bus drivers in our church, so we hear quite about their frustrations with gas prices. They adjust how much they reimburse them for gas every three months, but the last adjustment was before the prices jumped to $4 a gallon. Gas was at least forty cents lower then, and it's really hurting them when their buses get something like four miles to the gallon.

So now gas prices are the homeschoolers' fault? And here I thought it was all a plot of Bush to destroy the country before he hands over leadership.

Nah not totally Donna - BUT with this claim to be on a mission toward world domination - I can say that the budget crunches many school districts are feeling - had to be part of that plan right? It's getting harder and harder just to get the kids to school - pretty soon there isn't going to be too much more parents can do but keep there kids home and either A) not educate them at all and run the risk to having CPS called in on them or the authorities due to truancy or B) home school.

See those blasted homeschoolers even managed to get the president on their side!

Blessings,

Garsy
