You see, I have no problem if the episode is "different", as I've loved the different episodes...like Hush, I believe it was named. Or the episode about the support group for people who have met the Doctor. I just have problems with it being a rip-off of a movie...that reminded of of Sliders. Remember how it started out as a really original show, then in the last few seasons every episode was a rip-off of a movie?

No I don't, never watched it.

And personally, I don't mind at all if they use parts of other story-lines. I'm usually way too busy enjoying the characters and the clever lines, and looking for the throwaway remarks.

And I am WAY looking forward to Saturday!!

agapetos, remember "The Family"? My son does the head thing perfectly and he and my daughter will often break into a brief skit between two "family" members, lol.

The Doctor said so himself, didn't he? So it must be true!

I couldn't remember...I do remember an episode that implied it, but never stated it as such.

Cool...so Jack lives forever because of him being left behind with the cylons...

errr, I mean the klingons

errr, sorry I meant to say daleks?
too many sci-fi enemy groups

Or what? I just can't seem to piece together what I've seen in a sequence of events.

I thought Jack was immortal because he was killed on that space station and then revived by Rose's opening of the eye of the TARDIS.

Sorry! My bad! I meant to say Jack said so himself, lol.

He said that the modelling agency he had worked for called him the Face of Bo.

I missed that quote...I just remember subtle hints but nothing said out loud.

cool

and was it being left behind with the daleks or looking into the heart of the tardis that made jack unable to die?

I know, lol.

Jack was brought back to life by the power of the time vortex in Rose.

She was in some historical drama whose name escapes me, that I didn't watch (sorry! not fond of those)

I gather though that she makes an appearance in this new series at some stage!!

Mansfield Park? It was shown about two months ago in the US, as part of Masterpiece Theater's Complete Jane Austen.

BTW, I just turned on Battlestar Galactica on SciFi a few minutes ago (they're showing a repeat before the first ep of the new season) and there was a promo for The Doctor!

All new season! All new attitude! April 18 on SciFi

hi stateofgrace

No, not Mansfield Park (I'd forgotten about that).

There was "Ruby in the Smoke" and its sequel, and then also "Secret Diary of a Call Girl".

Did you see David Tennant and Catherine Tate on the Jonathan Ross shw tonight?

Nope, I was curled up in bed pretty early last night because I was so tired... I wonder if it's repeated at all... I've got freeview now , it could be on that.

I'm looking forward to tonight. I was awake relatively early this morning and have been busy rearranging and tidying up (I bought a tv stand yesterday and put it up last night, so had a table to move and I've got to clean the kitchen out because my new freezer is going to be delivered on Wednesday ~ John Lewis phoned at 8.30am this morning to confirm that!).

Billie Piper is also going to be returning to Dr Who this series for at least 1 episode. Not sure which though ~ but she does seem to be keeping pretty busy with different things ~ she's a good little actress.

I *think* both she and Martha are going to be in the one with the Daleks.

Torchwood is now officially another thread!

I loved the Christmas episode. We watched it on-line....don't know where from. My hubby found it.

I thought I found it, mom!!!!!

I'm looking forward to the new season of Doctor Who! Although, with Catherine Tate, I think it will probably be pretty corny.

agapetos,

So, what did you think?

David Tennant was as fabulous and wonderful as I'd hoped, and then some

Overall it was a good story (won't give it away - even though watching Wossy last night had given it away to me!). It also had a cuteness factor and provided a few laughs. I LOVED Bernard Cribbins as Donna's grandad (and the bit at the end gave all of us goosebumps! even my daughter, who hasn't "grown up" with Bernard as we have). Bernard was so utterly convincing and lent his own "magic" to the part.

Sarah Lancashire gave a convincing performance and IMO did OK. (I wonder how much her two henchmen got paid for apppearing but saying nothing! lol)

I found Donna annoying. Very annoying. She was more annoying than I thought she'd be - I honestly thought she might be all right. But to me she kept sounding like 2 or 3 of her characters from her comedy show and that for us really detracted from what was going on at the time. I felt too that she was overacting - I know she is meant to be a bit OTT and wacky, but personally think she overdid it.

(Was it me or was the woman playing her mother different from the one in the Christmas special?

And did you notice the "extra" who was a William Shatner look-alike? lol )

In the end I decided to just focus on David (not difficult) and make her (Donna) minor and incidental. And that was much better.

Spoiler in white:

Woo hoo! Wasn't that just so cool at the end! I wasn't expecting that at all. hehehe
