Our drive-in is usually packed every night there's a movie. (Wednesday through Sunday?) And yes, it plays all the most recent movies, but as double features. (It would be cool, though, if it would play old movies!)

We have been twice since our drive-in opened this year. We saw Horton Hears a Who and Nim's Island last week. We look forward every year to the drive-in. With 6 in our family it just costs too much to go to the theater very often - but the drive in is very affordable. We usually stop and get carry out, wear our PJ's and bring a pillow and blanket - pretty soon we will need the citronella candles. It is so much fun to spend time with our kids this way.

We have two screens at ours. We often find ourself interested in the second movie on the other screen, so we'll just turn around and change the radio station.

Naughty! (screen switching) We're going to Speed Racer with the boys this weekend. Dh would much rather go to Ironman though.

We have a drive-in 5 minutes away with 3 screens. It's a great option for us to go with the kids throughout the summer. I like all the blockbuster movies myself, and this cheaper option lets us see a lot more movies throughout the summer. We bring the dog with us too! Norman

HERE is a link to the list of Drive-Ins in North America In 1950 there were 3,775 Drive Ins in the U.S. Today, there are 432 in the U.S. The last movie I saw t our drive-in was Blades of Glory and Disturbia. At our drive-in they have many "commercials" for buying food from the snack bar saying that is the reason drive-ins close down. So, if you go to your drive-in, try to buy something from the snack bar since that is their primary means of profit. Admission makes them only break even.

There's a drive-in about 25 miles from where I live, and a friend and I are going to go Saturday night to see the double feature -- Indiana Jones and Iron Man. We already saw Iron Man in the regular theater here, but we don't mind seeing it again. The concession stand at this drive-in has awesome food and is much more reasonably priced with a wider selection than at the indoor theaters. I can understand about drive-ins making their money off concessions -- I figure they can't be making much money off admission at $9-$12 a carload. The only disadvantage: If we stay through the second feature, we don't get home until 12:30-1 in the morning, with church the next day.
