You may very well need that D cup, hun...whether you want to admit it or not. I usually wore a C (occasionally D) cup prior to having my son. While nursing, I ended up in an F cup!

Do NOT say things like that... I was a 34DD pre-pregnancy and am wearing a 36DD right now at 23weeks pregnant. I'm not looking forward to shopping for nursing bras

It'll be okay, Amy. The lady who taught my child birth class also sold nursing bras out of her home (she's a lactation consultant too or whatever she calls herself). That was nice...I just went to her house & she fixed me right up...even had what I needed. So, you may be blessed with someone similar where you live.

An F! Oh no! There's no hope for me, I've been huge since I was 10! I'm in DDD now (up from my DD after about 3 weeks pregnant). I think I'm going to need physio to get through this! I did find excellent maternity bras (they're different from nursing bras) at Thyme Maternity. They are FANTASTIC!!!!

Megan and Donna, congrats at getting to the top! Wonder who's going to be first?

Speaking of bras and whatnot... Do I need to buy special bras while pregnant? The ones I'm wearing now are all fitting on the tightest hook and I'd planned on just letting them out for a while until new bras are absolutely necessary. Also, when will I need to get nursing bras? I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow and I have the tiniest bit of colostrum (just enough to make my nipples damp and they get little dropplets on them when "provoked" ) I know that everyone's different, just curious what seems to be standard/normal.

Amy...if it's tight, then it's necessary to get new ones....even if it's for just a few months time. You DO NOT want a clogged milk duct from a tight or improperly fitting bra!!!! BELIEVE me...it's bad enough when you have a baby to help unclog it!!!!

Megan, I think we should have them on the same day.

Amy, if there is room to go to looser notches, do that first. Maybe you won't need new ones until baby is born. But yeah...if tight and no more room for growth, you need new ones.

I just find it so unbelievable as I don't even think my boobs look that big - I've pretty much been an A/B my whole life! Mind you I'm not really complaining, I've always wondered what it would be like to have big boobs and it looks I'm going to find out ! I actually remember having a conversation with my midwife early on in my pregnancy about how I hope my boobs get bigger just so I can see what it's like and she replied to me, "Don't worry the boob fairy visits us all at one time or the other" .

Yup, this is my first, and the EDD is based on my LMP, not on my ovulation date, which was a few days later than they figured. Sooo...I may have to vote with you, although I hope I'm wrong! We're ready for this little guy to join us on the outside!

I'm in a DD now. My breasts didnt really get bigger, just fuller. I really like my nursing bras. However, with my special circumstances, mine didnt get purchased until 3 days after Isaac was born and we bought them from the shop in the hospital. I'd say anytime from now on would be a good time to get them. Though after my events...I am advocating doing EVERYTHING early on...I hope you dont end up my way, but you never know what could hinder you from doing things later on....

I was a 34B at the beginning of my pregnancy, and now I'm a 38C. I didn't go up *too* much, but enough that I needed new bras about 2/3 of the way through the pregnancy. I wish I'd bought them as nursing bras, because I can't wear them now even though they're not underwire. When I tried to wear them and just move the cups I got a blocked duct , so they'll be useless for another who knows how long!

Motherhood Maternity sells bra extenders to help me bras to fit longer. And the extender is only $2-3. They helped me for a couple of months before I broke down and bought a D cup bra (up from an A/B). I am not quite a D right now, but I know D is how big I got the last time I was pregnant.

I wouldn't recommend buying nursing bras until after the baby is born. Maybe buy one, and then wait and see how large you get when your milk comes in...

Seriously, the boob fairy has some major making up to do with me when I have my next baby. I'm a small B and stayed that way through pregnancy and nursing...same with my sister. We are both severly disappointed.

I have to say that large bosoms are not all they are cracked up to be. In warm weather, skin gets sweaty. It's not as easy to go without a bra around the house --- just not comfortable feeling them on my skin. So don't feel left out lexie.

I don't know about that. I bought nursing bras when I needed a new size in my last pregnancy and ended up using all of them at some point in my nursing career with Nadia. I did need to get some 'boulder holders' when my milk came in, but after all that settled down I was able to use my other bras I had bought and worn during my pregnancy. Granted, I didn't buy a whole stash, just like two. But then again I don't have more than three that I rotate through at any given time in my life.

Hmm. I didn't really grow until my milk came in, then I went up an entire cup size overnight and stayed that way until almost 6 months after I stopped nursing. Just goes to show that everyone is different

I went from a 32B to a 36D after my milk came in. It never went back. Granted, I'm still nursing but everyone told me the size would go back down after my milk regulated. They are already growing again now, I don't know how much bigger they can get!!

I'm with ya Kathryn! Had I bought nursing bras, I could have worn them now ... but when my milk *first* came in, I was definitely huge! That settled down after a day or so, though.

I bought a bra 3 wks before she was due and didn't wear it until a few days after we got home. I wore a very comfy/stretchy bra and just pulled the cup down or strap off entirely. I still do that. I do not like my nursing bra and I need to get either another style or a different size.

Meant to say..

I went from a DD pre preg to DDD in preg and F afterwards until milk regulated and now am back into my DDD's super stretchy cotton bras. my nursing bra is an F.

Brandy,
I don't like the nursing bras either. When you say stretchy bras, are you speaking of athletic type bras (sports bras)?

They are these

Super easy to pull cup down or strap off if I'm home. If I'm home I am in a tank top that just gets slipped over/off shoulder. If I'm out somewhere I take a second to pull cup down and then get her going.
