Well said Laura.

I am not big into Todd Bentley, nor do I know much about him.

Since my marriage breakup two years ago...all I had left was Jesus. My health and assets...all gone. I told God, I was done. I told Him that "whatever the cost, I will follow you now". Then He took over. Since then, more and more has been restored to me.

I do know something happened to me during the worship the other night watching God.tv. I was moved to a new place. Jesus is so wonderful. This worship floored me. Literally. I was in His Presence. Weeping at his feet. I was freed from something. No one in the house but me (and God). I am not a big follower of anything...but do love Jesus ( Yeshua...G-d!) Now moreso. If that is the devil's will... geesh, then I am in trouble and please intercede for me.

In my opinion, I do not have one. God gets the last WORD anyhow.

You love Jesus and that's great. I would not discourage you in any way. But I can tell you that many a tear has been shed over a country music song (slow sad songs sell more beer). It's not enough for people who love Jesus to be emotional or even touched by God during worship. No doubt many sincere worshippers show up for the meetings. But it's not okay that TB thinks he has been to heaven and talked with Paul, feels "angels" beside him and endorses many a shakey thing in Christendom from the last fifty years. On page one 1love has the link to TB's own page. Check it out, he describes Paul telling him, in heaven, how he wrote Hebrews with Abraham. This puts him in a category of dangerous teachers.

Praise God for this freedom. But it was His moving in His time and not that of Todd's. Remember one thing: as a Christian you are always in His presence. He said that He will never leave you or foresake you, You do not need an emotional worship service to bring you into His presence. He is there in the darkest night and in the brightest day. See Him as your constant companion and everlasting friend.

Why do you feel it necessary to yell?
Is this what you mean by good fruit?

Yelling, insults, and false accusations. Is this some of the fruit produced by meetings ran by a demonic spirit named Emma-O?

First of all, stop yelling.

Second, you are throwing around angry accusations of slander, bashing, and fear that are completely baseless and presuming to know who we are without even being here for the discussion. Does that sound very Christian to you? Instead of tossing a bomb into the room and leaving without explanation, why not... discuss. This is, after all, a discussion forum.

lw9,

That was/is precisely my problem. A person will come in here and utterly and outright ignore over 13 pages of thoughtful discussion with a hit piece that does nothing for the current discussion.

Then the second post in the thread is full of yelling, insults, assumptions, and false accusations such as "slander" being used. Which it has not when we look at the actual definition of what slander is and is not.

Why would a Christian take issue with others testing all things in light of Scripture? Why such an uproar and idolization type stance taken?

im sure God is impressed with that spirit of bashing. i didn't think that was one of the fruits, ill have to reread galatians.

As far as the fruit of the Spirit, I honestly don't see it in this post as well. Where is love, joy, and self-control.

I think it has been said a number of times what many of us are afraid of. It is not a true move of God, but a false move, leading people from the faith.

I don't see anything in Scripture about angels named Prosperity, healing, revival, or Emma.

I don't see these things prophesied in Scripture at all.

May I share at least one Scripture passage?

1 Timothy 6:3-6 ESV, "(3) If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, (4) he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, (5) and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain."

I do not see Todd teaching the faith that was once delivered to the saints. Kneeing someone in the stomach wwf style is also something that promotes controversy, and quarrels. People may say, well what about Peter's shadow. Peter didn't have a shadow ministry, didn't set up crusades to walk past people so that his shadow might cast some form and they be healed, these things happened right on the street, not some organized religious service.

The Apostles also didn't have ads going around to plant a seed into their ministry, they were about taking care of those who truly needed help.

Someone here posted a link of a online interview of someone who was caught up in this stuff, it all goes back to the Kansas city prophets. He has now repented of what he did, and really had some shocking insights into the people behind the scenes, like Bob Jones and Paul Cain.

As far as a move of God...I really long for one. I desire one, I cry out for one. But not some emotional high that is based off some song, or someone's revelation.

I desire to see a move of God in this country back to His Word. Where people will hunger for truth and righteousness, not signs and wonders.

I do know where you are coming from though. I was a strong supporter in the Brownsville thing.

But through God's Holy Word, and His grace, He slowly began changing me.

That is not meant to be judgmental, just my short story.

I still believe in signs and wonders. But the greatest wonder I've ever experienced is God's grace toward me a sinner. The greatest sign I know is Christ Jesus and Him crucified and resurrected. For me that their conquers all doubts and fears and is all I need.

One more passage of Scripture.

Hebrews 1:1-2 ESV, "Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, (2) but in these last days he has spoken to us by His Son."

The Bible says to "hold fast to the things that are good, and abstain from everything else."

So, let's just leave everything about this alone that we are skeptical of. I, for one, believe that God can produce miracles and healings, and he still uses children of God, by the power of the Holy Ghost, to do that today. However, some of the things I have heard, read, and seen are outlandish.

Let's hold on to the good thing: It looks like people are hungry for a move of God. It looks like people are giving God glory.

Let's pray that anything that is not of God will be exposed and cast down. Let's pray that the eyes of the deceived are opened unto anything false.

And that is why so many videos of the antics of Mr Bentley have been posted.

Excellent article about this circus

I didn't know that the pastor of this church is the son of the pastor of Carpenter's Church, the US birthplace of the demonic "holy laughter" movement

"One eyewitness described the manifestations going on at the impartation of Bentley’s "anointing":

"These are the effects that I have witnessed on people who have attended this movement and either have had hands laid on them or claim to have been imparted with 'the spirit': -They come back with this kind of childlike drunken stupor. -Descriptions of a burning sensation either in their veins, heads or stomachs. -Descriptions of being washed back and forth like the waves in the ocean;-Dancing about like drunk...-Inappropriate yelling and screaming like they're at a football game;-Young men whistling over and over and holding their heads and claiming that they 'feel the Holy Spirit about to split them in two'; -One young man's back two teeth turned completely to some metallic finish.-People with their eyes rolled in the back of their heads and weaving around like they're lost.-Women just gyrating and pulsating like they're being ravaged from behind from some unseen force. -Drunken uncontrollable laughter in the middle of a solemn prayer time…-People being 'slain in the spirit'... just falling down and being unable to move (like something's holding them down)."

Then the blogger who posted this asked a pointed question about the women reported to be "ravaged from behind"

That could have been a great article instead of ok to good if the author would have been more interested in reporting on what was going on instead of bashing things he didn't like the lines from "Did You Hear the Mountains Tremble that were taken directly from the Psalms. (Psalm 22)

What was news to me is that this is where the Holy Laughter thing started. I thought it just kind of sprung up at Brownesville and Toronto.

From what I remember, Rodney Howard-Browne (just the thought of him gives me the creeps!) came to the US and set up shop at Carpenter's Home Church in Florida. He brought with him the whole "holy laughter" and "drunk in the spirit" garbage with him.

It eventually made it to the Toronto and Brownsville freak shows.

Google him some time. There is video of him that will make your skin crawl! Truly demonic stuff.

Yes, let's leave it alone so people can continue to be decieved. Then when we have to answer for it we can say "I would have said something to warn people, but I was too busy accepting every false move that had the name of Jesus attached to it so we could present a united front."

So how exactly are these false things supposed to be exposed? By osmosis? I think that's what's happening here.

The Holy Laughtr stuff is what drove me straight to a Baptist church! May have been a little boring but seemed safe. I was going to an AOG church in Tallahassee (after being raised Charasmatic/non-denom). I really liked that church till they went off on this craziness. People were talking about it for a while but I don't think I made it through one whole service when someone actually stared it. And I thought I'd seen everything!

The laughing isn't going on at this "revival" is it? It's just brought up because it's akin to the "drunkenness" nonsense, right?

"Todd cries out for more… shares about the beginning days… looking for the anointing… the heavy weighty glory honey cloud…"

It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
(Proverbs 25:27)

Today's Strader update

While the reporting of alleged miracles continues, I found some other opinions:

"My husband and I started watching the revival and
watched it for the first three weeks before we became troubled in our
spirits. Anyway, my kids and I were sick at the time we started
watching. I laid my hands on the TV and prayed with Todd. Here is
the thing. It let up, but then got worse. I've been sick for about
6 weeks with this congestion, can't breath in deep, and now feels
like I've cracked two ribs from all the coughing. I began wondering
if it was something I let enter in through the revival. I even
expressed my concern to my husband yesterday. I know this sounds
odd. This thought has been on my mind a lot these last few days."

found here

and another:

"I am so glad you post it this, because you are absolutely
right...I have had the same thing happen to me and my husband, but in my case I have started with problems on my left jaw and my neck have gotten worse. This I prayed with Todd a few times believing God for my total healing of different things. I cannot shake this, even though I have stopped watching him and if I do I cover myself with the blood of Jesus, last night I click in to see just out of curiosity what was going on and he had Bob Jones, the very same prophet-seer that introduced him to Emma the female angel and to third heavens experience."

God help us. We just can't sell out for the "healings" being reported here but a Christian attitude is "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him."
(Job 13:15)

Just curious.

Do you think these people possibly had these life and death experiences?

Heb 9:27 - 28 (ESV) 27And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, 28so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

That's not at all what we're saying! But "worthy to be mentioned" means it has to line up with scripture. We can't just make this stuff up as we go along. There's a standard by which all of these doctrines and "miracles" must be measured. If it doesn't line up with God's Word, it's not of God.

I remember reading "Divine Revelation of Hell" and thinking wow this is powerful stuff. Then came Divine Revelation of Spirits, Demons, Heaven, Purgatory, Mars, The Center of the Earth and it was about that time a sense of deja-vu* hit and I quit taking it seriously.

*As in I became under the impression they were going to milk that for every $$$ they could.
