sunshine4God -> Questioning yourself. (5/17/2008 8:28:47 PM)

Even though I am growing in the Lord, and I can see it as well as others,I am always second guessing myself. How can I be sure of myself and know I am in Gods will? I always think, well if I did _ or _ I'd be a better christian.I want to be sure of myself and have the confidence that Jesus loves me just as I am.I am tired of being insecure in my walk with the Lord. Can anyone help me? Thanks,Love always Sunshine.

Yes - Jesus loves you just as you are. There's plenty of evidence of this in the Bible. You are unique. And He loves you and that's that.

None of us deserves His love or are worthy of it. But He loves us just the same.

As for second guessing yourself and doubting - DON'T.

Just accept His love and do your best to live your life as He has asked you to. Try to love others as He loves you.

Difficult task ... but worth trying all the same.

God bless.

Sunshine4God-

To add to the earlier responces-

Most importantly, to become strong in your faith and to learn the path God wants you to follow, comes first and foremost, from reading and learning His Word above all else.

Thru that, you learn all that God teaches us how to have immovable faith in Him and that which He Promises us.

It also teaches you about His Armor we can put on daily to protect us from Satan's attacks and weapons against us.

By learning His Word, He helps us to learn more how to discern what God, by the Holy Spirit is doing to prompt us to stay on His path and in learning more the deceptions of Satan, that we avoid following false things.

Before starting each reading session of God's Word, pray to Him for seeking His knowledge and Wisdom from His Word He wants to learn that day, that time, etc.

Seek prayer with God more and more as you face trials, temptions or attacks of Satan, to develope a ,ore automatic responce in all ways to seek God forall things.

That should help for a start.

God Bless!!

He is your surety. You are right to not place any confidence in yourself. God is faithful. And He has promised to accomplish ALL for you. Believe His word. He is truth. Take your eyes off yourself and fix your eyes on Jesus.

For many years I walked in your shoes---always wondering, second guessing, doubting, blah, blah blah. But He brought me to this wonderful place of believing, trusting and faith in Him. My prayer for you. He will accomplish ALL for you too, sunshine. Bless you![:)]

Thanx for your post. Don't compare yourself to other Christians. There will always be those who (you think) "seem much closer to God" and those who don't.

I repeat: you are unique. He loves you just as you are. Don't compare yourself with others - but focus on Him alone.

God bless.

CherishedbyGod -> RE: Questioning yourself. (5/18/2008 12:28:53 PM)

I went through that for many years, also[&:]

What helped me so much was studying how Jesus related to the Apostles while here.

I mean these guys were waaaay far from perfect. James and John wanted to call down fire from Heaven in a vengeful way - John later became the apostle of love[:)] James was one of the first leaders and had the privledge of being the first martyr.

Peter denied the Lord but look how the Lord restored Him and so honored Him after his hugh blunder.

Thomas' faith totally failed - he was so crushed at the death of Jesus but Jesus met him where he was at. Thomas cried out "My Lord and my God" after he felt the nailprints in the risen Lord's hands. He later went on to become a missionary and die a martyr's death.

And then you might want to look at the genealogy of Jesus. In that genealogy there are prostitutes, harlots, moabites...

And then read of some of the scoundrals in the hall of faith in Hebrews chapter 11. There you find Rahab the harlot, Samson, full ot the flesh, Gideon full of fear.

My dear sister! You are in great company! Jesus [sm=heart.gif] loves to take the weak to confound the wise, the insecure to learn to rest in His faithfulness.

Look unto Him, dear one.
~Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith~

It is not up to you...It is up to Him and He will bring your salvation to completion.

~Faithful is He who calleth you who will bring it to past~

Amen and Amen!

Regarding being sure of yourself and knowing you are in God's will...I struggled with that for a long time, also.

Through a number of circumstances, I finally realized that I did not have to "search" for God's perfect will/plan for my life but that it would be revealed to me. And it was, and it continues to be unfolding before my eyes.

A fabulous study that was a life-changer for me and many others is the one that is advertised on this website now....

I know exactly what you are going through. I have the same doubts and fears and lack of self confidence. It is a daily struggle that I have been going through and with God's help will beat. Just remember that God knows your heart.

Sunshine, I know exactly how you feel. I go through periods where I feel this way too. In fact, I've just been through one earlier this week.

All you others who posted--thanks. Your words helped me, too. God bless all of you.

Hi sunshine,
Sounds like your already ok. [:)] But I wanted to respond anyway, just to tell you what you already know. He loves you so very much! Just as you are. You know as we look at others, we don't see the dark thoughts they may have, unless they voice them. We don't see they're doubts. They're fears. We only know our own. And of course we know that we're not perfect. God knows this. Thats why He sent Jesus to die on the cross for us. If we were perfect He wouldn't have needed to. Still we want to be perfect for our Lord. And satan loves to whisper in our ear that we aren't good enough. Don't listen to his lies. Just continue to grow in His love.

God Bless

BibleL7 -> RE: Questioning yourself. (5/23/2008 3:14:17 AM)

Sunshine

I know it does not help to say dont worry but hopefully what you are experiencing according to OP is sometimes what is drawing us closer to the Lord for we pray more often, read the Word more often, and seek Him more often. It is very difficult at times but then we are to seek His confidence not our self confidence. Keep in prayer keep in the Word and definitely keep in fellowship with Christian family. Oh and never think that someone else has a closer walk with the Lord you may be very surprised if you knew the truth, which sometimes shows itself in time. Many I had thought had a closer walk were actually not walking with Him at all. We really can not know of someone else's walk. When we doubt and yet know we are not against His will perhaps that is having a closer walk for we tend to seek Him much more. Just a thought you might consider.

Lufia -> RE: Questioning yourself. (5/26/2008 7:34:44 PM)

Boy! Sparkle, thank you. Your post is helping me today you can't imagine. I sinned ( i'm french canadian, is it well writen?) today and i feel so bad. i ask God to forgive , i'm sure He did but i have difficulties forgiven myself. I, like you justly said, want so much to be perfect for God and still i sinned. It is really hard to accept. I will continu to sin even if with all my heart i don't want to. I have to accept to grow in His love and trust that he still loves me and support me even if i sin.

drmark -> RE: Questioning yourself. (5/26/2008 10:28:07 PM)

Dear Lufia, perhaps you may benefit from reading about entire sanctification by which you may be cleansed of your sinful nature and given power from the Holy Spirit to stop sinning. May I recommend LES ARTICLES DE FOI number X for your consideration. Please note the relevant Scripture passages which support this doctrine. God bless you as you seek to draw closer to Him!

deermousie -> RE: Questioning yourself. (5/26/2008 11:11:10 PM)

Aw, God bless you, dear one. I love seeing your tender heart.

One of the things that confuses us Christians is the culture we're in that says we have to be *doing* something. First of all, God wants us to *be.* There are things for us to understand (and all of this is taken from the Bible, as that's how we know something is true. If something isn't in the Bible or it contradicts the Bible, we can be sure it's false) - namely, who we are: sinners, saved by grace, loved by God, children of the Promise and the New Covenant written in His blood, interceeded for by the Holy Spirit, lead into truth by the Holy Spirit, indwelt by God, given the promise of a good future by God. The list goes on and on, and as you read the Bible you'll start finding these gems; they're all over the place.

After you start getting a handle on these things, He gives you things to do: love the brethren, confess and repent your sin, receive His forgiveness, dwell in His Word (the Bible). Pffft, just this short list will keep you busy, and He will use it to be growing you up to be more like Him. Wow.

So as far as God's will goes, if you aren't doing something right now that you know He says not to do, then relax - you're in God's will. I'm in God's will right now, too, sitting at my computer and writing to you. In a while, I'll wash the dishes and pack my husband's lunch for tomorrow, and that's God's will for me because I am a wife. I'll go feed my baby turkeys (yes, I have baby turkeys. They're at that ugly stage right now, but one of them will look pretty good at Thanksgiving this year!). Later tonight I'll open my Bible and continue reading (I just started Jeremiah; I read through the Bible every year) and pray for people I know and people I don't know (Christians having a hard time somewhere in the world; God knows who they are).

I hope this helps. God bless you, dear.

sunshine4God -> RE: Questioning yourself. (5/29/2008 12:00:56 AM)

Thanks so much Deermousie for reminding me Gods will is to just be,and not to always feel I have to be doing something. Thanks also for seeing my tender heart and loving it.I know who I am in Jesus and am reminded daily by him how much he loves me.Its just with all Gods done for me,I want to do something for him.I'm not sure what though but will be sure and keep praying about it.God Bless you and Have a good night,Love always Sunshine.
