As far as cleaners, I like lemon clean from smart and final. It cut grease like anything, had a fresh scent..and it did have chemicals..it wasn't just an organic lemon juice thing. In fact, when I worked at the preschool, it was the only non-bleach cleaner that the state allowed. And we liked it because it didn't mess up our clothes the way bleach did. I was going to post a link, but I could only find a link to Smart and Final, but not to the Lemon Clean.

Actually, it was Marty. Missy was Clark's daughter.

Another problem with that series is that it made marriage in and of itself look WAY too ideal.

You're right--it was Marty. Sorry about that. As for marriage looking ideal...that doesn't bother me, but that's the romantic in me coming out.

quote:

Ditto. Plus, Hosea as an example is no excuse. Even back then God didn't condone his people marrying out of the faith, as a rule. He had Hosea do it as an EXCEPTION to the rule, because He wanted an EXAMPLE to show the nation of Isreal how it had been unfaithful to him.

Right--and besides, I don't think Hosea married a non-Jew (at least it never says he does) so technically he didn't marry outside his faith anyway.

quote:

I, personally, believe God speaks to us in the Bible ALONE, and not directly, and I believe it has been that way since the Bible was complete, but even if He does talk directly, I just can't believe He would tell us to do ANYTHING contrary to His word. He did it with Hosea, because Hosea was a prophet, but we are not in the days of prophets now.

I do believe God speaks to us directly, but I agree that it never contradicts His Word.

Sarah - what an adorable boy you have!! I'm so glad that you & Justice are doing well. Praying you are getting the rest you need!

Cindy - praying for your MIL to get the care she needs!

Jen - sorry about your mom's friend passing, what a joy that you know you will see her again!

quote:

well, he's upstairs now. I'm not going to remind him he's starving if he's being quiet up there now.
Yeah Zoe, my theory is if they need to be reminded that they are starving - they probably aren't!

Ds made it home safe & sound! I was at a cookout/meeting when he got home. He almost bowled me over when I came in the door. It was the biggest hug I've gotten from him in a long time. What a change from the boy who would barely hug me goodbye. He had a great time! It was a good experience for him. Yesterday, they had several of the kids & adults share things they saw/did & they had most of us in tears. The kids there live in heartbreaking situations. I'm so glad we were able to help even in a small way. Now, ds has sinus gunk. Poor guy is draining & coughing. He was running a really slight fever after church yesterday. We had a cookout to go to last night, but he stayed home. I think he is just worn out more than anything else. I have LOTS to do this week! I just realized that we won't have much time for things around the house the next 2 weekends (we're probably going to spend the 4th with dh's family & the next weekend we are going camping). The English Scout who is staying with us will be here on the 13th, SO - we have got to get things done during this week & next!! I'm in the mood to CLEAN - I mean top to bottom scrub cleaning. I'd better take advantage of that mood huh?!

I think DS was pretty tired last night. When I went up to bed he was sitting/lying on the top step to the 3rd floor where our bedrooms are. His head was on the landing on his arms and his feet hanging down the stairs...fast asleep

Well, my portfolio and afidevit and plans for next year are all turned in. We have to have the afidevit notarized. Well, as you go out the back entrance to the notary you cross an alley and pull right into the school property...very convenient

I have never tried to emulate the PSs. However, my limited knowledge of what leadership is combined with what I have seen in their class leaves me lost as to a true definition.

I see. I was wondering why you cared what they are doing at the local school, especially since you think it's horrid. Look up leadership in the dictionary. Seriously, this may help you reset your thinking. You know what leadership is. It's the school that doesn't. If people are following you, you're a leader, especially if you didn't ask them to follow you. How to be someone others will follow and how to lead people in the right direction; that's proper leadership training.

Yes, I have, for a year, than a year off, than two more years, I home
schooled two children for a single mom. The second two years, the boy had lukemia. In California the law is that someone else can be involved in homeschooling your kids up to half the time, so the first year I taught, I had the kids M-W-F, and she did stuff with them the other 3 days, and I taught at "my" (my parents') house(she was a cleaning lady at the time, so had a flexible schedule), the other two years, she had a full time job at a company, and I taught her kids M-F mornings at her house, and then she did stuff with them on evenings and weekends. It was a blessing, but the boy died . However, the girl, and I, who this fall is starting a nursing program at the community college, still have a relationship. In fact, she comes for coffee on Friday afternoons.

Cynthia, I wondered if you saw this post?

Yes, I did. Thank you for your input, Rebekah. I have actually been contemplating your work with children and families. You have been like a governess. I think that is an amirable thing and quite interesting. I don't hear that term regarding people today and don't really know anyone who has employed a governess and wonder how all that fits in the laws of each state. It seems to me that it would fall under the homeschoolings laws, with the parents overseeing the education, but I don't know.

BTW: Sarah, I love the name Justice.

Zoe,

Did you take a picture of him asleep that way? If it was my blessing, I would have. Too cute!

Congratulations Sarah! One of our dance leaders that left has a boy named Justice. My blessing really liked playing with him. Last week she heard the word justice and started talking about him and prayed for him too-and his next in line brother as well.

Hi everyone. I need to go back and read up and find out all I've been missing: how's Ellie-Mae's health recovering, where Jenny is working these days, and everyone else.

Truth is, I am still reeling from the Romeo and Juliet saga, and I was going to wait to get on Crosswalk again until everything was all settled as to where we go from here.

Part of it is- my daughter was accepted at Queens University!

(By the way, QU likes home schooled applications, if anyone's student wants to apply to a small non-religious private school in Charlotte, NC. It's affiliated with PCA somehow but all that means is that there is a non-mandatory chapel service on Thursdays run by PCA, though there are several Christian clubs and a huge Baptist church across the street).

I was very happy about that because now my dd is all excited about college! Plus she earlier pledged not to talk to Michael for a year and not to date anyone for three years. Woo hoo!

But then Michael called today. And she took the call, so so much for good intentions.

OK, I have a lot of reading to do! TTFN.

Narnia, no I didn't. All I have is the camera in my phone. It appears that some teens got into my house on Dec 26 and stole myy camera and mp3 player.

Shadowspring, That's great about your daughter being accepted and getting a scholarship.

I can't wait for FOT!!! Yah, still a month off... We're having Donna's Mexican casserole for dinner. Well, sorta. I'm half brain dead and mixed up corn muffins instead of biscuits! Oh well. I'm sure it will get eaten.

Shadow - what great news about your dd's college!!

(((Jen))) - praying for both your grandmas.

Well, all my cleaning inspiration got used up on the front lawn. Oh don't get me wrong - our lawn needed it! We hadn't edged in... well, I'm not really sure how long! Unfortunately, I didn't do a great job of it & I'm pretty sure we'll need to replace the blade on the edger, but it does look better than it did before & now dh won't try to get out there & do it all by himself! He may try to make it look better, but that won't be as big a job! I still need to weedeat along the house & street and spray round up in the cracks in the sidewalk & driveway. But it looks a lot better! It was really hot & I was out there for 3 hours, so I was wiped out! But I had a salad for lunch & rested and now I feel better. Ds is having some diaharrea today. We were worried this might happen when he got back. He has sinus congestion & drainage, so that might be contributing to it. He's sacked out on the couch right now. I think we'll insist he skip Karate tonight. He doesn't have scouts tomorrow night, so he can go then. Well, since I'm feeling well - I should get to cleaning the kitchen!

I think you make it more than I do! LOL We haven't had it in a while. I'm not sure I even remember how to make it.

Well, Donna, several of us have the recipe if you need it Actually...that sounds really good! LOL

The BBC has taken over my school! We went to watch one part of a Blue Planet DVD and ended up watching the whole thing and now the kids are on the special features (improper commercial fishing, etc). They are learning a lot and Nate takes notes as he watches and makes us keep the subtitles on so he can spell the names correctly, lol. But I am certainly glad we at least got math out of the way before we put the DVD in!

DS was so cute today. DD1 bought a new bathing suit this weekend since she is going to the beach with a friend for 4 days next week. Now, she is starting to get a bit of a chest and the bathing suit was very slightly padded. It didn't make her look huge or overy accentuate her chest but it was more noticable than in a shirt. Also, it was a ladies bathing suit instead of a little girls. Anyway ds looks at her and says "Wow, you look so grown up. you look like a lady"

It was in a really sweet and admiring way. WHen I asked him why he thought that he could tell me. DD was thrilled at that complement from her little brother.

That was such a nice way to put it. I bet it did make her feel good.

It did make her feel good. I really don't think he realized why he thought she looked that way either.
