Probably there will be a new, eternal paradigm with new focus in Christ and further personal growth rather then this existence of pain and pleasure. Jesus said there won't be marriage in heaven except the 'joining' of himself and his church(the NT saints); a paradigm shift.

Still. That would make them pretty much insignificant and the fact is, life without them here would've been a totally different life. Even the worst of us have changed people somehow. This is probably my biggest question ever about heaven. I know it can't be answered right now but I still think about it. Thank you for your responses.

I think LCannon is correct-- we will have a different understanding of things... I don't know how that works, either, but I have to beleive that our merciful and righteous God has a plan in place that will make perfect sense when we get there. There is obviously some retention of memory, we will remember and recognize the loved ones that we do see there... This is one of those true faith issues. I don't think there is an answer to that question in this life.

No physical pain because of new body. No hint of sin because old order has been done away with.

That actual verse refers to just about all of the layers of pain that plague us as sinful creatures, including morning. It isn't just about physical pain.

Cross_Eyed_4_Life asked a very good question. As a human, with all my sins and all my failings, I have a tiny little bit of compassion and perhaps even less forgiveness ... yet even with these minute amounts of compassion and forgiveness my heart would be broken beyond repair if a loved one of mine failed to get to Heaven with me. Are you telling me that God has less compassion and forgiveness than me? How could He expect me to be happy in Heaven when my loved ones aren't there? Very difficult questions. I have no answers. Can any one help with answers?

You know, I've been staying away from this folder because there is just so much questioning and over analyzing here. You can call me simple, but I am so glad I don't have it in me to question Him...after all, He is God! I take Him at His Word. If He said it, I believe it. His promises are true...He would not have made them had He not meant them. Read the verse in my signature. That is His promise to you concerning what is being discussed here...you will not miss your loved one who isn't there. He will make sure of it. Just believe! Why is it so hard? You can trust the Man who died for you. Edited to correct spelling.

It is not through your works that you are there. It is the gift of God that got you there, and you'll know that. I'm sure that if you're aware that someone else is not there, you'll also know why. Acceptance or rejection of Jesus as Lord and Savior is the only criteria for heaven. Rather than worry about how I'll feel in heaven without my loved ones, I want to do everything I can to share the gospel with them so they can be there too. If they reject that, I'll be hurt, but it's not God's fault that they're not there when He gave Himself to make sure they could go.

Just pray for and believe for your loved ones and leave the outcome to God. He is good and He is faithful and what He does is right. Always, completely, eternally. Amen and amen.

Even Jesus asked at least one question--My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Everyone--I appreciate your thought-provoking answers. Know my questions are not a sign of a lack of faith or even doubt. They are simply what they appear to be--questions for the sake of conversation about my favorite topic--my faith. I've had so much happen to me over the past few years but none of is has ever been able to shake my faith in God. In fact, it only gets stronger b'c I feel someone is trying to test it and it's not God. So when I ask questions, it isn't because I doubt. It makes me a little uneasy that anyone would feel they need to qualify their questions in any way on a place such as this but so be it. We're all different and I respect that.

Some things will not be explained pure and simple that we do not have right to question the motives of God or His decissions. As to the OP, I dont think that we will be concerned of who is not there when we are in the presence of such a Holy and Just God. Second if you while here dont want to go to heaven without your loved ones then tell them about Jesus. And when they reject it tell them about Jesus and as you tell them about Jesus be sure to tell all of it especially that He died so they would not have to go to hell.

Well, God tells us that in Heaven, He will "Wipe away every tear from our eyes..." So apparently there will be some tears at our first appearing in Heaven, but that God will comfort us. When we do get to Heaven, we will be like Jesus, and part of that is to have a perfect sense of justice. Yes, we will have loved ones in Hell, but you have to remember, Hell is not cruel - it is JUST. No one receives more punishment than is due them. As far as secular law goes here on earth, if we have a loved one in jail right now after they've been found guilty for murder, we may sorrow because they have done wrong, but we certainly do not sorrow for their punishment because they must pay for what they have done. Even here, our sense of justice cries out for something to be done because such a horrible crime has been commited. In Heaven it will be somewhat similar - we grieve because they have committed a horrible sin against God, but their punishment is just. This may not be exactly what you were looking for, but it is Biblical - I hope this helps.

Armydude How about some Scriptures that speak to us knowing folks in heaven, or having knowledge of earthly things while in heaven. I certainly do not "Know" what Heaven and our fellings and experience will be like there, I can only assume based on what little that Scripture speaks to what goies on with us when we get to Heaven. Everything that I read speaks to wonderment, Glory, presence of God, worshipping before the Throne, etc. I see nothing about us worrying or being upset or concernedc about anything. Of course I am always open to having my mind changed by Scripture. Thanks RC

I never said or implied or even thought that--that I don't want to go to heaven without my loved ones. I simply presented a question that many have b'c I was interested in the answer. And, by the grace of God, I have lead many of my family members to Christ or took them to my church who lead them, one of whom died 3 months ago--my sister--so I know where she is. My answer to all this is the Scripture in my sig. That's how I feel about it. That's what I have to remind myself of when I feel I don't understand it.
