That would be the biggest curse of any politician's life. If you want to get elected, you have to be all things to at least 51% of the people.
I couldn't do it. The public arena doesn't reward authenticity very well.

It would depend on the reason why you would want to do that.
If you wanted to do that because it's a common name for children of African muslims, and you wanted to surreptitiously draw a false link between Mr. Obama and the muslim faith, then it would be both "race baiting" and plainly dishonest. That link has already been discussed and disproved.
If you wanted to do that because you just like that name better, then I'd say go for it.

(LOL), I can not help myself. I was thinking when the guy announcing him called him Osama Bin Laudin (sp). What an akward moment. I saw that on the worst poltical blunnders. It was halarious. Hey it was funny when the old Bush thew up on the Japanse at a dinner in the early nineties, so no one get the undies in a wad, it causes wedgies

Everything re: Obama voiced on that website has been fairly thoroughly debunked, including the highly superstitious idea that somehow Muslims are immune to lie detector tests. (That one is kind of funny.)
For the record, the one speaker who makes the assertions (for which he admits he has NO evidence) also references the appropriately named "World Nut Daily" as a resource.
Again I'll say - fostering damaging unfounded speculations without any evidence at all just isn't right. As Christians, I think we should have a higher regard for truth.

I agree... Who cares if Obama is or isn't a Muslim since his claim of being a Christian is pretty easy to debunk...

At the worst, Obama isn't anything. Because if he's a devout Muslim, certainly sitting in a Christian church for 20 years and being baptized by a Christian goes against even the most liberal of Islamic faiths. On the other hand, if he was a devout Christian, certainly practicing Islam wouldn't get him very far in Christianity either. Therefore, both cancel each other out. You're either hot or cold. Truly, I think this whole thing is blow way out of proportion. Do we not know of friends who are Christians and their parents practice another faith? My ex was a Protestant while her parents and siblings practiced Mormonism. We are putting limits on God's power of salvation. Have we not heard of Muslims converted to Christianity? OR do we not validate their new faith because they were once Muslims? Do we not have family members who do not practice any religion? And yet we ourselves are soldiers for Christ? Then why is it so hard to believe that one can't attend an Islamic school in an Islamic land and come to know Christ even in his youth? At least give the Christians HERE some credit for evangelizing and ministering to him in order to bring him into the fold.
What about those of us who send our children to Catholic schools in order to give our children good educations? They don't come out Catholic. We don't accuse them of being Catholic, they are very much still Christians. And what better to have a greater understand of another faith and THEN having the opportunity to choose between the two and choosing Christ? Is that not all the better after having the understand of both religions? We are really limiting God here. And I agree with those who say that professing to know someone's heart and intentions is forbidden. How would YOU feel if someone you didn't know was telling others that you were Buddhist because they made some factless association? Put the shoe on the other foot. How does it feel to have YOUR faith questioned?. But then that's the ultimate suffrage right? We're called to be persecuted for or faith. And to suffer as Christ did. Even Christ was accused of being of the devil. Go figure.
