ORIGINAL: bzirk Makes sense to me. Now I just hope people don't think I'm crazy 'cause of my name. LOL! Okay, back to topic. One of the problems I've had over the last 15-20 years is that alcohol has played a role in the diva and drama queen manifesting in my mother. I'm not going to sugarcoat it, it's been tough. But the Lord is good, and thankfully, He is able to give me peace where it logically should not exist. I've had to acknowledge Philippians 4:6-9 on many occaisions and the Lord has been faithful to give me that peace I can't explain. I agree as to alcohol playing a role in other drama queens I know (friends and neighbors). It increases their outlandish behavior. My relatives don't drink very much--maybe one or two with dinner. Although, I have to say that their parents (my grandfathers mainly) were alcoholics and filled their childhoods with drama. I've always felt that could be the root of my parents, aunts and uncles dramatic behavior. That's why it's hard for me to stay angry with them because I feel that their childhoods were so chaotic that it made them behave the way they do today. But, it doesn't take away the hurt when they say things that are careless and mean. I just wish they'd put themselves in other people's shoes before they open their mouths.

I feel for the OP. It's hard when you have to deal with people who think the world revolves around themselves. quote:

With these people I have learned across the years is that the best policy with them is to limit contact with them as much as possible.

the thing about real divas is that success either goes to their head or we assume success goes to their head. Since they are sought after for advice and publicity, it is natural it to be "all-about-the-gal".

It's all about control, which can certainly be a result of selfishness.

Oh my, maybe I need to change my name. I think most of us have a little bit of "diva" in us somewhere. But it just happened to go good with denim.

The denim-part takes all the selfish-infantile-show-girl stuff out of it, leaving only the sort of blue-jean-sweetly-FUN with the pixie-cut or occasional ponytail firmly planted but easily tossed while in a sprint!

Google the DMS definition of 'borderline personality disorder'. long ago I decided that nasty people aren't talking to me - they really are reacting to people in their past and to parts of themselves that they can't accept. sure are a pain though.

Oh, man! I can see that my last post (#41) could have been easily misunderstood. I tried rewriting it to better represent my intention, Bluejean Diva!!

"Be polite to them (to the best of your ability)" is what I chose. In my opinion, I have no idea why they act that way and I have no control over it. It's also not my right to judge someone and their behaviors. I typically just go with my "smile and nod" technique and try to not spend too much time getting into their drama.
