Sin remains due to UNBELIEF. Failure to believe God's word. I.e the Word says that we as christians are dead to sin(it no longer has POWER over us)but in our particular areas of weakness or temptation we don't BELIEVE we're dead to that sin so we continue in it.

Hello rmoore1925

Since the exact sins you refer to have been edited, I can only guess what you are talking about. Have you accepted the free gift of salvation; been reborn by the Spirit of God? If so, your life will be different. Your positions as sinner has been dissolved. Christ lives in you to regenerate and renew.

Have you recieved the baptism in the Holy Spirit? This gives you the ability to fight the wiles of Satan.

Here's what I'm considering about this subject.I'm not saying I'm right or that I've worked out all the kinks or gaps in my understanding.I'm just stating what I'm considering.

When the Egyptians had Israel in bondage,God eventually delivered them through his power.Looking back at it though the bondage/slavery was real and gripping,God was in control the whole time.God had within his power to deliver them from the power of enslavement.

Jesus said something interesting, actually everything he said is interesting, anyway in John 8.34 I tell you the truth everyone who sins is a slave to sin.

Slavery like Paul spoke of in Romans, being captive to it's demand.Slave also in the sense that you are locked into it's penalty,I.E.death.

Jesus goes on to say that a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.

This he spoke in reference to literal physical Jew losing it's place in the family. That the day was upon them that their birth would not keep them in the family.

Even as Ishmael was the son of Abraham,he was not born free God did not choose him to carry on the covenant,he instead chose Issac who was free to continue the family.

Ishmael had no permanent place in Abraham's family as he and his mother the bond woman were sent away from the family of Abraham so to would the unbelieving physical born Jew.

Jesus then says who the Son sets free or if the Son sets you free, you will be freed indeed.

My mind connected this back to Israel's deliverance from slavery. It was God's doing, all they had to do was walk in it and watch their former slave owner be swallowed up,as they were set free indeed.

I see this being true in the life of the believers. That Jesus by his power and by his works have freed us from the law of sin and death, and we are indeed free!

We are free from it's penalty, and it's condemnation, provided we continue to walk after the spirit and not the flesh, which on the surface sounds like a disclaimer, but in reality it's not.

For you are not controlled by the sinful nature, but by the spirit,IF the spirit of God lives in you.And if you don't have the spirit of Christ, you do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then his spirit will allow/cause you to free from the obligation of our sinful nature.

So being led by the spirit which frees us from condemnation is a not a physical work of ours, rather it is better stated as paul said Because those who are led by the spirit of God are sons of God.

So it is because God spirit is in you,if indeed it is that you are no longer in the grips of sin,I. E. under it's obligation I.E. Egypt's bondage, but rather you are Jesus said set free and in being set free, you are free indeed.

For we did not receive a spirit that makes us a slave again to fear, but the spirit of Sonship. The spirit confirms to us that we are God's children. If we are in fact that.we will exhibit his nature daily as we take on or grow, bear the fruit or the evidence of the spirit.

So whether Pharaohs army continues to pursue us,they will be overtaken as we continue to walk the path of our of freedom. In other words sin will continue to pursue us but we already have the victory and will continue to have the victory as sin has and will continue to be defeated through Christ Jesus
