I once heard a minister say they were a 'middle of the road' Christian. I didn't say it but I did think "people who walk in the middle of the road get knocked down!"

Little_1 The difference between 'faith' and 'trust': "Faith is the starting point whereas trust is seeing something through to the finish."

I was so bad, He almost threw me back. I'm gonna be on an eternal clock one day... there will be no such thing as a stinking deadline. I would not be disappointed at all if angels really do have wings. I feel like I will truly miss eating when I get to heaven but look forward to never again visiting a bathroom. Every moment of every day we make choices and admittedly some of them are stupid but my car is not going to smash into your child's car and kill them because I was driving drunk. That is not just stupid, that is asinine.

A duh moment that had a positive effect... A long time ago someone asked me... "what are your aspirations?". I had no answer because I was still wet behind the ears and did not know what aspirations meant. I vowed to never be caught off guard again. _______________________________________ The greatest thing that you can do for someone who is hurting or someone who has something to be very excited about is... listen. My sister said: "I need to exercise to get rid of my extra size." What I used to say to my kids when they were teasing one another: "It's never smart to try to make somebody mad, because when you try to make somebody mad, you usually succeed, and then they do things you don't like. Do you want to have people mad at you?" My brother, years ago when jelly shoes were popular and my nieces were showing him that their mother had finally broken down and gotten a a pair for each of them: "Well, now, I'll just have to get my peanut butter boots and we'll go out and paint the town bread."

In the story of life you are one of the billion most important characters. But not as much as Jesus.

If you and I have what seems to be a conversation but you cannot look me in the eye, then we have nothing in common. I cannot reach you until you are willing to have the courage to look at me.

These are the last words of the father of Associate Justice William O. Douglas before he left from Cleveland, WA, to go have surgery (which proved fatal) in Portland, OR for an illness: "If I die, it will be glory; If I live, it will be grace."

Oh, I wish I could remember who said it. I'll have to paraphrase. It's in the Emergent Church thread. (The Emergents) want you to not only "Come as you are" but to "Stay as you are" - we were talking about repentance, or lack thereof.

A personal quote? Something original? There is no such thing, but I have a Mark Twain paraphrase. It is my email sig at work... "Only in developing others do we truly succeed".

Do not be anxious for anything...... Anxiety is self-centred and sinful because it places 'I' at the centre of our concerns: anxIety!
