~Discipleship of new believers. ( I am very passionate about not squelching, but encouraging the zeal of new believers. It's like the honeymoon period of time, but many who are more mature in Christ are so quick to want them to "settle down and get serious" judging their every move and word. I think this is a travisty and grieves the heart of God.) Yep, definately passionate about that one.

Can I just say ditto, please???????

Food. Especially cooking for others and making sure they eat well. It always gives me this awesome, warm and fuzzy feeling when I make a meal, and plates are cleared off. Comments are often in the range of "you're hired" to "You need to make more next time."

It really gets me when I know someone is not eating as good a diet as they could be. Everyone should, and deserves to, eat well.

If we start ascribing our interests to genetics then we have to say that homosexuality is genetic too. (and why would God create something that is abomination to Him? HE wouldn't). There is no soccer gene. There is no football gene. There is no Christianity gene. There is no foreign cultures gene. (And of course there is no homosexuality gene)

But would you believe that God designed us to create a world that He had in mind, but because of our sinful nature, we don't always do what He designed us to do? I believe that God wrote sometime in my heart (that's the term that's commonly used in this forums, but for me, it means that He wired me to be a certain person with certain passion unique only to me), as part of the bigger picture. I might have spent the early parts of my life pursuing my selfish interests, but time and time again, there's that, call it "longing" in my heart that stirs my soul. Perhaps, as our sinful habit slowly falls away, we get to see who God made us to be.

Kinda new ageish, and I'm usually the logical type, but I honestly can't believe that God designed me as an empty vessel that the world can make and mold to whatever it chooses. Eventually, God's design becomes evident in who I'm becoming.

Here is where the Christian has such a huge advantage over the non-Christian. We believe in this thing called a spirit which is distinct from and superior to our flesh. God has written things into our spirits. BUt these are not genetic and these things are always in accordance with his word.

I have a brother who is trapped in a certain sin. He has the calling from God on his life to serve in minisrty. He's tried bunches of times to join a religious community of some sort (lots of different communities) but he's been denied every time because his sin is incompatible with that life. His calling is written on his spirit. He's chosen his sin through his flesh.

really??? u think some of this stuff does come through genetics?

Roise blessing and curses, according to the bible, are passed from generation to generation. Interesting enough the blessing does not pass as far down the tree as curses...........

I don't believe there is a soccer gene but I do believe that certain things run in our blood. They are our inheritance of blessing or curses.

Genetics do not make a person have an affair but if you search the family history of someone who has you will most likely find a history of unfaithfulness, maybe not to a spouse, but to other things or persons.

I know there are certain things, I am passionate about , which I can feel in my blood.........I did not know my great grandfather yet when I read my grandfathers book, I felt an immediate kinship or oneness with my great grandfather.........I knew without a doubt that his blood was running through my veins.

Interesting Jacob was able to steal the blessing because his father was unable to see as he once had......I wonder how often that happens to one of us........Do our passions get stifled or never developed because we have been too blind to see those things God placed in us? Those things which make our hearts beat faster?...........I think often the blessings ,meant to be passed on to each one of us, is stolen because we are too blind to see it.

Just my thoughts....which by the way, sharing them, is a passion of mine
