My worst teacher was in the second quarter in tech school. I still have no idea how some components work. Now only did he make it impossible to understand he would go off on tangents that involved stories and jokes that had nothing to do with the class.

I'm so excited that you're going to join the ranks of us teachers! I teach middle school math, too! You will be so awesome! I think the kids will be so interested in your weather experience!
Our job description - teacher, administrator, counselor (for both students and families), secretary, playground and lunchroom supervisor, evaluator, work supervisor, nurturer, dispute-settler, learning disabilities diagnoser, encourager, inspirer, public speaker, communicator, computer technician .. . .
You will love it! There's never a dull moment!

I'm currently displaced.  But, at my last job I was the regional admin mgr for a hazmat company. Looking for the same type of job, or exec asst, etc. I love working with MS Office (especially excel and powerpoint). (Currently learning Photoshop too)
I also make soap (the real stuff) and other bath/body stuff to sell. Gotta support my habit - LOL. (At least it's a clean one!  ) Last year I started selling crocheted stuff too (mostly hats, scarves, drawstring bags, and tons of soap pockets). I made some awesome body butter a few days ago. Everyone that has tried it loved it so I'll be making a lot more of that in the very near future. Some people from dd's doc office are already interested in ordering some. ;) I also need to restock other items too.
Oh, and I've been doing a lot with a home missions group in my church too. We make quilts for those in need (last year they went to hurricane victims), lap quilts for nursing home folks, shoe boxes, care packages for our church member in the military, shelters, etc. Our church started doing Angel Food last month and I volunteer to help that also. So, even though I'm currently unemployed, I've certainly been keeping myself busy. (And that doesn't include being a mom, housekeeper, gardner, and..............)

I heard that natural soap actually keeps the skin moisturized, whereas the soap in stores they take that out, then sell you moisturizer separately instead.

Well, you're on the right track. Glycerin is a natural by-product of the soapmaking process (saponification), and it is very moisturizing. Also, milk soaps add some extra moisturizing too (the milk fat contributes to this). The stuff you get at the store is not soap. Notice the label next time you're at the store, or if you still have some unwrapped bars at home. It will not say soap. (They can't say it is if it's not.) You'll see things like, "beauty bar", "cleansing bar", "deodorant bar", "antibacterial bar", etc. It's just a bunch of synthetics and petroleum by-products. Not soap. (Thanks, in part, to WWI.)
Yes, most commercial manufacturers extract the glycerin from the "soap" and sell it as a raw material to candy companies, weapons companies, or they'll put it in high-end products. Between extracting the glycerin and using synthetics and petroleum products, it's no wonder so many people have sensitive and/or dry skin. Homemade soap is sooooo much better. And I control what I put in my soap and you can bet it's not junk. I'll never buy another commercial bar of soap if I can help it. (And when I speak of homemade soap, I'm talking about the real soap that uses lye to make it, not the melt-and-pour you can get at craft stores.)
Okay...off my soapbox now. LOL

I am a GED instructor in a state prison. The job itself is equal parts teacher, life coach, drill instructor, cop, beaurocrat and zookeeper.
Thanks, Rosiecotton and Lisa! You know, rosie, I just kind of fell into it. I had taught 6th graders, but when I moved I ended up taking a job with HeadStart (Which I lovedlovedlovedloved but made peanuts. Sad but true. Doubled my income overnight when I left pre-school and went to prison.  ) and then heard about this job and applied. I hadn't even realized they HAD teachers in prison, until a friend who worked there encouraged me to apply. I hated it a first--went home and cried every night the first week--but now I love it. And, Lisa--interestingly enough, it feels JUST EXACTLY like a sixth grade classroom, now that I am used to it. Developmentally about the same level Best of luck to you on your new career. That is awesome. I love teachers who've had other life experiences then bring them to the classroom. You'll be awesome!

Oh my job title.
I tell everyone that in my REAL life I'm in music ministry, but in my fake life I'm a Leave Management Specialist.
My music ministry is everything to me. God called me to music ministry in 1996 and it's been a part of my life ever since.
God has blessed me with an awesome job managing FMLA and State Leave Laws. I feel, in a way, like it's a little ministry, too. My mom lost her job due to a denied FMLA leave, and so I try really hard to give everyone a fair shake and to take good care of their files.
The greatest part is that it's Mon-Fri, 7a-345p, no weekends, no strain on my voice like when I was teaching. My music is saved all for Him. And that's good with me.
Nadine...we're all servants of God, so you bring up a good point. I think that's something we should all remember. Pure Heart's bass singer is a Christian counsellor and teacher and said something very profound to the effect of: It's not just preachers, evangelists, missionaries, and gospel singers that are in ministry. We are all in ministry every day. If we live our lives that way, it definitely helps us keep focused on the important stuff.

I have no job title, unless you count "peasant." I am one small step above serf.
What do I do? I put this in that and place there, 2500 times a day. And that's on a good day, because sometimes my job is stressful instead of boring. Like today.

Absolutely true SS!! It was that or Widowed SAHM, but, since I'm both  , I thought I would put the one that sounded more interesting.
