"Darn Floor Big Bite" or "Diamonds and Rain". I had both of those on tape. Wouldn't mind picking up The Choir again (Da not so much). Amazon Marketplace had it but I have to be careful with the old wallet. Edit: I'm weak. I just bought Diamonds and Rain. $12 plus $3 shipping. The next one up was $23 so I figured I better pull the trigger on it. That "Darn Floor Big Bite" is $50. Wow! Many of Daniel Amos' CDs are expensive. Might pick up The Choir's "Chase the Kangaroo" as well. Maybe Petra's "This Means War" but I think I'll try to go through a Christian book store for that one.

You wanna know a great thing about being older, like me (there are a lot of great things, but this is only one). When my wife and I first got saved, way back in '74, we started buying what was then called "Jesus music". I was a DJ at the time, and "knew some guys" if you catch my drift, and for the next fiteen years or so we bought a lot of the stuff at cost, or near it. And we've kept it all. So that means we own, on good old LPs--beautiful cover art, liner notes, and all--such goodies as Larry Norman's albums, all of Rez Band's stuff, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Randy Stonehill, early Petra, After the Fire, Twila Paris, Steve Taylor, Matthew Ward, Keith Green, and on and on and on. Yeah, we're blessed!

No Paul Clark??? I still have most of the old vinyls myself, but his digital remaster about 10 years ago was incredible. I bought the whole set of CDs.

John, now you need one of these. I have one and am slowly converting some of my vinyl to mp3's.

Looks like a great idea, Unk, but from the reviews the usage can be dicey. I need simple words, with lots of pictures. When the reviewers say stuff like, "great, but the software is wonky", I get skeered. I can hardly spell compooter; the idea of yet another piece of hardware silently laughing at my ham-handed attempts to make it work gives me the vapors. Maybe if I could get the twelve-year-old kid across the street from me to do it....?

ORIGINAL: percussionlover having worked for a major record label as an A&R guy for many years. i can tell you that no label, christian or secular will release out of print (back catalog) of an artist or band unless there is such a high demand that the label can make a very high profit etc... There is so much involved concerning re-releases etc....that it is very costly & time consuming that the record label would rather spend those costs & time in developing their new money making artists. When a label re-issues an LP from their vaults, first they have to track down the master tapes if possible (if the tapes are in decent enough condition or if the label even has the masters, often, the labels will re-record over the masters etc..) then they have to track down all the original album art work etc..if possible. then the label have to re-write all contracts for everyone involved etc....in that album. Do you see where i'm gettin at,theres so much involved. usually ,the albums that get re-released are the ones where the artist or band owns all the master tapes etc.... The best chance to see back catalogs getting re-issued on cd are the small independent labels that specialize in only re-issues like::: Cherry Red records (they just re-released the entire Bay City Rollers catalog w/original album art work, remastering etc...liner notes from original band members etc..),,, Collectables Records,,Sony Music Special Products, Collectors Choice Music,Rhino Records etc...... there's tons of christian albums that i would love to see re-issued on cd,but i know they'll never see the light of day on cd. if you go to music sites like ::Musicstack & GEMM, where there's dealers from all over the world selling vinyl etc....most of the time, those dealers will burn you a copy of the album you are buying at an extra cost. for example,i bought a vinyl copy of,,David Martin "Breath On The Window Pane" for $89,that included the LP along with a burned cd copy of the album, but, when they made the cdr copy off the LP,they scanned the front & back covers plus inserts & the label from the record, they also recorded the LP with a program that clears up all the noise of the vinyl. so,when i got "Breath On The Window Pane",it actually looked like a store bought cd & it sounded like a store bought cd. The reason why they charge $89,is because there's so much time involved in doing all that. if you cant find those vintage christian albums on cd,that might be a route to consider........ I knew there had to be some convoluted mess of red, legal tape they had to deal with! Thanks for the info! Keep bangin' those skins! From the bass player (the other part of the rhythm section ) Edited to correct spelling mistake. I missed my calling as an editor!

On a bright note, the Napster library of Petra seems very complete and I can stream it for "free". I was listening to their first album yesterday!

Don't laugh too hard. When I started in the computer industry back in the 70's 10mb was considered "mass" storage, and was a single 12" diameter metal disc that went into a drive that weighed more than 100 lbs. 16kb was considered more than enough RAM for any function. We made all the flight simulators for the Army for about 10 years, until pc's became more commonplace. A single flight simulation machine, with software, could easily run $250,000. Now a single ic can do all that and more.

Darn Floor Big Bite is getting a reissue. http://www.DanielAmos.com/store/ As for The Choir, all of their stuff is available for downloading on their site. But yeah, the hard copy of Diamonds and Rain is hard to come by. I lucked out paying $0.50 for it a good 7 years ago at a CD store that was closing.

What great news that Darn Floor is being re-released! I guess daydreams do come true! I usually wait until I can get it for the lowest price, but I have a feeling I'll be ordering that puppy the day it's released. Fifty cents for Diamonds & Rain! Color me green! That's about the best deal I've ever heard of. Beats my $6.00 copy of Ideola by a long shot!

ORIGINAL: uncabeeil That's true, Gayle. But with so many stations going with that awful "Family Safe" format those golden oldies aren't getting played any more. But they are just going with what works, what is most profitable. Ratings have shown that the key female demo responds well to this image. quote:

They are probably not in stores because they choose not to stock them directly, however you can always special order them. Also, this is true with mainstream artists whose CD's may not be available in the store either.

They have everything and I can't imagine stocking Petra would be a drain on available space. Thats why I suspect they're out of print but that Christian distribution centers have leftover stock. Just a theory though. Or maybe for some reason Christian distributors don't have an agreement with Amazon. Amazon has stuff from very obscure labels.

I really just do not know, but if you can get a sealed copy of a CD, why should it matter?

I worked on a spectrometer that used a Digital 8808(?) computer with 8" floppies (state of the art at that time too) that looked like the 5-1/4" flexible discs. It used two discs to run the thing but your mass storage drive sounds old! Remember the punch tape models? Sounds like we could start a thread!

like i said in my earlier post on this....theres sooo much involved when re-releasing albums etc...i kno that with the Bay City Rollers, there was a very very huge demand around the world for their entire catalog to see the light of day on cd (in fact,,theyre catalog was released before on cd,but not as remastered or with such in depth repackaging & now thoise cds that was released some years ago r now out of print)...it dosent matter if u r a christian band or a secular band, there has to be that great demand from the public & if the record company feels its worth the effort. read my 1st post again on this,i hope it explains it better. the small independent labels that spealize in re-issues is your best bet to ever see your fav album on cd....... having worked for a major record label as an A&R guy for many years. i can tell you that no label, christian or secular will release out of print (back catalog) of an artist or band unless there is such a high demand that the label can make a very high profit etc... Rufas, instead of Amazon, try some of the Christian outlets like Christian Book Distributors.

Rufas, instead of Amazon, try some of the Christian outlets like Christian Book Distributors. Good idea, thanks. I actually got a reissue of Daniel Band's "Run From the Darkness" from them (which went OOP as quickly as it was in print). Unfortunately most of my other targets were OOP so my only options were Amazon Marketplace, Ebay (no thanks but I may break down to get an ultra rare St. Warren CD) or Blast Beats. Blast Beats was a good site for rare Christian music but they haven't seemed active in awhile. I found quite a few titles through them. When I decide its the time to get Petra's "This Means War" (or other Petra) I'll go through Christian Book Distributors. I might also get Daniel Amos' "Darn Floor Big Bite" just for kicks and grins if the price is right. Thanks for the responses. It was a productive discussion.
