Not Ryanne, but I LOVED Palin's speech- not afraid to pull punches, but also a lady- great combo. I can't stand Hillary types who aren't just strong women, but women trying to be men (just my take, no offense to anyone who likes her)- and Palin is still pumping for her son, so that gets bonus points too (not that formula is bad, just that as many here have testified, working and pumping take a lot of dedication and I think it further shows her ability to lead and make family a priority too) Maggie- can you pop into the homeschool thread? somebody is asking about PA regs, and I don't know if the criminal in charge has managed to mess them up or not, I know it wasn't bad when I left... Visitor- call the college he is interested, they should have guidance counselor "types" who can help with that- they are all different to some extent too, so you really have to do some leg work (ie some will let you just "test out" of certain basic courses, others make you take ALL OF THEM- it's good to check around, if you have choices in your area) Okay....off to stuff my peppers...

Speaking of pumping, does anyone here bottle feed, or has strictly bottle fed? If so, can you tell me about how many bottles I should have on hand to start? So far, I have 11. And also, how many cans of formula (on average) I can expect to need per week/month?

Eleven bottles are plenty to start with, Crystal. I wouldn't buy more until you know if you need them and what kinds baby does or doesn't like. (I'm soooooooo excited for you in this journey to a little one, BTW! It makes me smile every time I see you posting about it. )

EmilyAnn has some really cool looking bottles - can't remember the brand tho.

Donna - Congrats on Esther, she is beautiful! I totally missed the news that you had her since I have not been on much. You have a beautiful family (I found the thread where you put a link to pics). Congratulations!!! I missed Palin's speech, but so glad to hear that so many of you enjoyed it. It gives me some hope that maybe McCain can win after all. Not that I am a huge fan of either candidate, but I prefer one over the other. I love reading your post too, Crystal about this journey! Well I haven't been around much lately, just needing a break I guess. Things are going good though, just having a fussy day today. We went to Monkey Joes again and stayed for a little more than an hour, had lunch with daddy, and came home for a nap. I think next week instead of Monkey Joes we will go to the park and feed the ducks. I finally found a park that has ducks you can feed and that is free. Well, I need to start dinner soon so I best be going.

Amber, if it were me, I'd cook your noodles till they were almost (but not quite) done, then put them together with the sauce, put it all in the crock pot and and set it on low through church, that way it'll stay warm but the noodles won't get mushy.

Crystal, I think the 12oz. can of powder makes a gallon of formula. Next time you're at the grocery store, it should say it right on the back of the can. Up to one month old, you give 2.5oz. of formula for each pound of baby in a 24 hour period. So if the new baby is 6 pounds, you'd give him/her about 15oz. of formula a day. One to two months old is 18-32oz. of formula a day. Two to six months is 23-32oz. of formula a day. After 6 months they eat real food, so then they just get 20oz. of formula a day until age 1. I'm really bad at math, so you can go ahead and figure that out....LOL! Do you have a good baby book? The Dr. Sears one is supposed to be really good. What To Expect the First Year is very easy to read, and you can look up stuff really easily in there.

I'm not sure what baby books I have anymore... I packed them away a long time ago. I have something by Dr Sears I know, but I'm not sure if it was for pregnancy or for already born babies. Claire, I'm not sure how to find you on facebook!

Crystal, I shall try and find you! I just listened to Palin's acceptance speech (thank you, youtube!). Wow, she is a great speechmaker!

Things are not good. I have had about 4 hours sleep. hubby is home, he saw me walk out like a zombie, he knows how little I slept as I texted his phone each time. He doesn't care. When I said Iwas going to go away for a while he said "I just need to go to sleep" I am scared. I dont know what to do. What's the point of staying here when he is miserable and makes me miserable, the kids. I really don't know what to do anymore and am so worn out trying to make this work.
