I would like to know who is your favorite pianist currently on the road in SGM? I'm particularly interested in pianists who travel with a group (not soloist). Tell me who is your favorite and what you like about them! I know it's hard to pick, there are so many good ones out there!

It's very hard for me to chose between Jeff and Kim because I love them both, but they are very different. I finally voted for Jeff. I could listen to Kim forever, but I Jeff is my favorite Southern Gospel pianist.

For me, it's a toss-up between Kim Collingsworth and Stewart Varnado. GVfan--not sure what you're getting at. Kim Collingsworth was a SG pianist last I heard.

Yes, but I have so much of her music that is more hymn-based and more "grand," like "How Great Thou Art," etc. I'm not explaining this very well, but I think of her as a much more formal or "refined" player. Much of her solo music is so beautiful I can hardly stand it. Of course, she can surely play the fast and fun and serious SG stuff, too, but I think of her as a musician that can also play SG, where I think of most SG pianists as SG pianists who can also play the "formal" stuff. Does that explain it, dm, or have I made it worse?

My current favorite is not on the list. That would be Andy Stringfield of the Kingdom Heirs.

I voted for Josh Simpson. True, he is not real flashy but the man can play with the best of them.

I voted for Kim Collingsworth, the only piano pounder who has tempted me to change my mind about musical solos.

I voted for Jeff Stice. Having been at several of his solo concerts as well as the group concerts, I think that there is nothing that Jeff cannot play, and play exceedingly well.

I could just as easily picture her playing something by Beethoven or Mozart, while I just can't picture Stewart Varnado or Andrew Ishee doing that.

But I can, and have, heard Jeff Stice play classical, jazz, show tunes, oldies . . . He can play anything. And he is as personable, and humble as a person can be. He is also a talented arranger. I just love him and his music.

I must say Roger Bennett is, and probably always will be, my all-time favorite. However after hearing Tim Parton play at a recent L5 concert, my vote is for him hands down (no pun intended).
