I voted for Jeff Stice for the same reasons Frog did.

I voted for Kim because when she plays,watching her face,I can almost see Jesus.I don't believe any of her playing is to entertain or to be showy.I'm not saying any of the others do,I'm only speaking of Kim.

From the list provided, I had to go with Stewart Varnado, even though his name was misspelled! ha!
He, like Jeff Stice, is very well rounded in styles. I absolutely love the "Southern Gospel Players" recordings that he released several years ago, it showcased him playing all sorts of piano styles.
The best 2 quartet pianists from this list in my opinion are Stewart and Jeff Stice. Tommy Fairchild was great back in the day, but I haven't heard him in years, so I can't safely comment. Tim Parton is awesome as well, and he's very creative.
I can't really comment on Josh Simpson, because, while he may be excellent, Gold City's tracks cover up the piano way too much!
I like Andrew Ishee's playing, but he's not currently traveling.
Jerry Kelso is friendly and not a bad player at times, but he plays WAY too hard. ever listen and watch him play Get Away Jordan?
Kim Collingsworth definitely has a talent, and while she knows how to sell it, I don't think she's any better or worse than Jeff Stice or Tim Parton, etc. I feel that she is slightly overrated because of being the only female in an all male pianist industry. Again, i repeat, she IS excellent at what she does! I'm just saying that Tim Parton could sit still and play the same EXACT arrangement note for note and the people would just sit there, but Kim has a way of selling it (by singing along, being a lady, and showing emotion) that when she plays it, she gets the crowds attention. Please don't take this as criticism of Kim!!! It's just a fair and balanced evaluation.
I haven't seen Josh Singletary play much, but the few times that I've saw Tribute, the flamboyance he portrays from stage turns my stomach. He is a decent pianist, but his demeanor is a little too prissy.

I agree with your statement about Josh Simpson(Gold City's pianist), the tracks cover up his playing way tooo much....I like a pianist that plays hard...maybe Josh Simpson should play a lil harder to catch up with the tracks...Just my opinion

Another piano player that deserves mentioning is Joseph Cox of THe Old Paths. Having studied under Anthony Burger you see and hear a lot of Burger's style come from him. He is an excellent pianist.

There are so many great piano players out there it's really hard to choose just one.I chose Kim because what you see in her is a lady so controlled and so touched by the HS of God that when she playes she is so overwhelmed and so in awe of His Holiness she is playing and singing to Him.

The only reason he comes across that way on stage is because he is very loose when he sings. He's been trained, and when you sing, it's healthier for you to be loose. A friend of mine talked to him and he said that when he hits the stage he's basically a rag doll.

I don't post very often but I just had to make sure Eric Ollis was added to this list, an incredible pianist and a great guy!
And also you don't get to hear him play very often,but Dustin Sweatman is very good as well. it's an honor to consider these two men friends!

I wouldn't confuse style with ability. Martin Cook is more of a rythm piano player than the others. He is very good at what he does. He is also more fun to watch than many other piano players. One can simply watch and tell that he really enjoys what the group is singing.

I love Josh Simpson! His CD is great and, on a personal level, he seems like a really nice guy! Everytime I've gotten to talk to him he's been very sweet. I think he does a great job of playing like he means it!

Not to belittle Kim in any way, but a statement like you main leads to the impression that there are several or other pianists that do it for other reasons or don't acknowledge where the talent came from. Even if it may be true, I'd be careful putting one up on a pedestal for being more spiritual, because singling one out may mislead other opinions.
Of all the pianists in SG, I don't know of any that I believe are in it for any other reason than to give their talents back to God and uplift Him! Just because they don't show their emotions doesn't mean anything. Kim really puts everything she has into it and it shows, but thats not to say that other pianists aren't putting their all into it.
Just my opinion.
