When Beth farts (and she does a lot), Nathan laughs and goes "Stinky!"

Some of his favorite words are "Ewwwww, gross!" and "Yucky!", all said with a huge smile on his face.

Aw, it's hard to believe that my boy is gonna be 2 in less then 2 weeks. I love my babies, but I think I had more fun with his second year of life then with his first, even if I was either pregnant or nursing a newborn during that second year. Toddlers are nuts, but they are fun.

After his lunch he was pretending to cook at his little kitchen, which was cute till I noticed he was using his sippy cup of milk to add some real liquid to the fake food.

Kids are gross, that's for sure.

My littlest monster is now known as the paper monster. If she sees paper of any sort on the floor, she is on it like peanut butter on jelly! I pulled three wads of paper out of her mouth today and I never even saw where she got it from!

David loves tearing paper. He shreds napkins into tiny pieces before anyone even realizes he has one. That's not fun to clean up.

Ruth, Chase is 18 months, and I say everyday that this age is so much fun. I'm really enjoying it. As much trouble as he can get into sometimes, I still really enjoy him!

Sounds like Gabby. We joked that we should have just named her Billy[goat].

Ruth, the pictures are LOVELY. It is so much fun to see the kids grow up, I'm totally loving this stage.

I agree that the "almost two" stage is really fun. Biruk's there too and I love it!

Mary loves to get into the diaper wipes box. So I have to keep the diapers and wipes in a tupperware container with a lid.

It's funny to watch Mary walk. She looks like she's been sitting in a saddle on a horse.

Adam took two steps tonight. Then he took another step after those.

His first.

He'll be one year old on Monday. My big boy.

I tell you what, now that Mary is more mobile, she helps make me a better housekeeper!! It's also very nice to have the older two around to give chores to to help keep things picked up as well.

An early Happy Birthday to Adam! Congratulations on your first steps!

My girl just this morning, all 14 lbs of her. Ah, they are worth it, aren't they?

She's adorable, Ruth! And I though my boy was big... just over 13lbs at 8 weeks.

Question for you mommies, especially those who had PPD: My mom heard through the grapevine that a lady we used to go to church with is really struggling emotionally with motherhood. (Her baby is 5 months old) I would consider this lady to be my friend, but I'm not sure she feels the same about me I don't have her phone number or e-mail address, but I do have her snail-mail address. I'm thinking about just sending her a hi-how-are-you-I'm-thinking-about-you card, but I'm not really sure what to say. I haven't seen her since we left their church and since it is only hearsay that she's even having a difficult time, I don't really know what I can do that would be encouraging. I'm not a very compationate person, so I don't want to come across badly Any suggestions?

Do you still live in the same area? If you do, a nice note just telling her you were thinking of her and wanting to get together with the babies for some coffee or ice cream or something would be perfect, I think. Let her know you don't have her phone number or email, and give her both of yours. Then the ball is in her court, but even if she doesn't contact you, she'll know you were thinking of her.

When I'm writing out a card, I often write what I want to say on a piece of paper first, so I can change it if need be. I hate writing things out because I can't change them if they don't come out right the first time. It's hard for me to reach out in this way, but the feedback when I do lets me know that it is encouraging to people and they appreciate it. So...I say, go for it!

Ruth, she is a doll!!!

I was running around trying to do too much tonight, so I let Noah feed Esther her pears and oatmeal while I put Hannah and Levi to bed. She loved it and I know he did too! I might just let that be his job.

Thanks for the early birthday wishes, ladies! Adam's birthday is, well, looking at the time now....TODAY!

I was in back labor a year ago today. NOT MISSING THAT AT ALL!

Today at the family birthday party for Adam he walked five steps from my mother-in-law to my mom. Neither my husband nor I were there to see it but he took his first PUBLIC steps from one grandma to the next. At his birthday party! CHARMER!

And then tonight at about 10 o'clock we let him have a go at the stairs. Our house is over 80 years old so our stairs are old, too, and steep and painted so usually we keep the door to the upstairs closed but what the heck, it's his birthday tomorrow. HE WENT UP ALL 14 STAIRS IN ONE GO.

If I wake up in the morning and he's gone driving with the car I am going to go completely gray overnight.

Kids are crazy.

Jeanie, that's marvellous!

Just to say that if you haven't already taught him how to come downstairs (or down off a sofa, or down off a bed) safely (ie backwards), now would be the time to do so!!

Happy birthday, Adam!!!!

I hope he's not driving your car today, Jeannie. That could really mess with your insurance rates.

Happy birthday Adam!!!

We really need to teach Jacob how to back off of things too.

He can walk about 10 steps now. He's gradually gaining his confidence and starting to walk away from something after he gets himself up. Won't be long and he'll be cruising the house on his 2 feet!

He's working on his 4th molar and also his 4th bottom front tooth. He's definitely having some attachment anxiety. If I can get him to play happily on his own he's fine without me as long as he can't see me. As soon as he sees me he comes crawling and crying to me even though he's just fine. Can be frustrating at times, but I like being the favourite too
