I don't know if any one caught the comments of Sandra Bernhard about Sarah Palin that was breifly in the news this morning. I can't imagine anyone making those comments, much less another woman. Strangely enough her advocating violence against women while doing a benefit for a women's shelter.
Obama's supporters

You notice what was said was so vile that I didn't list it in the post. My first instinct was to blast Sandra Bernhard but realized she needs prayer. I am really sadden the lengths some people go because someone doesn't have their view. I did noticed the the news source toned down what said "g#ng r#p#.

I think it needs to be remembered that several people in the entertainment industry, especially comedians, rely on vile language for their humor. There are so many examples of similar language and hateful comments from those in that industry. It is a shame that they can't learn to use their public platform in a more constructive manner like many others in that industry.

As a female, I found it so totally offensive. It amazes me that a career can be destroyed off a less offensive comments than that one and basically those making that kind of comment got a "pass" from the media. I don't care if she is in the industry or not -- she should have been called on that comment.

Well I certainly agree... but look at her audience... angry, foul-mouthed lesbians. She is not likely to lose her audience.

I think the reason for the post is just the levels I've seen Obama's supporter stoop to attack Palin because she has conservative values. The only thing Palin did to bring this kind of comment was to be a successful, smart, mother of five who has conservative values... that's what struck me to the extent that light needed shined on this kind of vileness. And yes, considering the source...

True. I didn't miss the other part of the comment either but the headline was about Palin.

Let's see:

You can buy bumper stickers "Abort Palin".

There is a bar in Illinois that sports a nude painting of the Governor on the wall. The good liberal owner used his daughter as the model.

There were rumors about her youngest child actually being her grandchild. (Unlike BO, she didn't contemplate killing a grandbaby.)

She talks about lipstick, next thing you know BO is talking about lipstick on a pig. I know, it was just a coincidence.

Tax cheat Charles Rangel (D-NY) calls her "disabled." I know, another coincidence that she has a disabled child.

SC Decmocratic party chairman said her "primary qualification" is that she "hasn't had an abortion."

Maureen Dowd said that she is "Napoleon in bunny boots."

Air America's Randi Rhodes said that she's having sex with teenage boys.

Bill Maher called her a "snarling -itch."

Lindsay Lohan says that she is a "narrow minded media obsessed homophobe."

If only she had aborted her last baby, liberals would love her.

Don't count on it.

Note the vileness from the homosexual community. An abortion wouldn't change that.

Because a woman can do things besides stay at home chained to the stove and still be a good mother?

The Proverbs 31 woman runs a successful business while being a mother and a wife.

If you are concerned primarily about Trig, consider this: As the son of the second most powerful person int he world, he will have potentially unlimited access to the finest medical care available, as well as Secret Service protection.

Gov. Palin isn't moving to Mars when she becomes VP. She will still be with the kids, and the children will still have a solid full-time father and an excellent extended family.

Pure nonsense. They'd just hate her less if she knew what the Bush Doctrine was, could name a single newspaper, and could talk about foreign policy without sending shivers of fear down our backs.

Let's call this what it really is...intimidation especially to any other female that might have Sarah Palin's view. But what they don't get these are the women that really think for themselves and don't have to wear a "tough exterior" to be tough. It takes much more strength to stand up for what's right than to try to shout down those you don't agree.

We've been through the "Bush Doctrine" bit on here already. You don't even know what it is. It was proven that is not what Gibson thought it was, and no other politician has been asked that question because either there is no Bush Doctrine or there are 4 of them, or it's still changing. Now, would you like to explain it to us with all your google ability and then explain how some someone asked point blank is supposed to answer that?

For someone who claims to be in peace you sound like a scared little chicken to me.

Yup. To quote Obama's pastor Jeremiah Wright, "The chickens have come home to roost."

Because conservative women can hold careers too. Conservatives also have faith in their husbands being capable fathers. Todd Palin is not only a supportive husband but a very capable father too.

Or are you that out of touch with society?

Shame it's dropped to the ad hominem. I take your point about the Bush Doctrine (I hadn't seen the previous discussions about it on these boards). I was merely making the point that liberals (and although I lean conservative, I sympathise with a lot of liberal positions) don't hate her for being a conservative, and wouldn't love her if she did a 'liberal' thing. If they take a dim view of her, it's because of her own obvious short-comings - in the same way that we all take a dim view of any short-coming in a politician, regardless of their ideology or party.

And I stand my point that it's ridiculous to suggest that an abortion would endear her to liberals - that's a bit of a strawman argument, just as intolerable as the outrageous claims some liberals make about conservatives. Although I lean towards the right on most issues, I'm firmly pro-choice, but regard abortion as a pure tragedy, never to be celebrated, and certainly no reason to hold anyone in higher esteem.

There is a difference, and a BIG difference at that, between disliking someone's policies, and attacking someone in a truly disgusting manner that hinges solely on her GENDER.

To say something this vile is just... unconscionable.

I don't CARE if you don't like her policies... wanting her to be violated in that manner is disgusting and very, very, very wrong.

I would be just as disgusted if it were said about, say, Hillary Clinton. It's disgusting. It's wrong. And the fact that it's not being shouted from the rooftops as such... the fact that someone would DEFEND such a vile statement... simply because Palin is a conservative and the speaker is a liberal is disgusting, wrong, and the best example of a double standard I have probably ever come across.

I didn't even understand the abortion comments so I'll just reply to this.

I disagree, Liberals hate her because she represents the values that they cannot stand and she it good at it all the while being completely authentic.

The "short-comings" thing is a myth perpetrated by the liberal media (which is some of the kool aid you have obviously sipped) and she has demontrated it in her speech and the debate and her meteoric rise to the poistion of first lady in Alaska that she is more than capable at the position she was nominated for which some on her have attacked her mercilessly about.

Think about it this way,, you cannot accomplish what she has already done, none of your friends could accomplish it, and further more, there is nobody in a 50 mile radious of you that probably could. I'm not talking getting elected, I'm talking accomplishing what she has and gaining overwhelming approval ratings in her state.

I think there may have been a misunderstanding here... I never raised the issue of her gender, and frankly it's irrelevant to me (except in that I'm glad a presidential ticket is no longer the reserve of middle class white men). The things I don't like about Palin are nothing to do with the fact that she's a woman. The only time gender came into it was with respect to abortion - and I merely said (in my second post in this thread) that an abortion wouldn't (and shouldn't) change how liberals perceive her - least of all her make more popular among that group.

Sorry if any offence has been caused, but I'm pretty sure it's a misunderstanding!

We're talking about a specific, and very horrible, comment made about Palin. If you want to talk about her policies, go ahead, in the appropriate threads, but arguing about the policies here gives the appearance that you support the comments based on her policies, which is just wrong. Or at least condemn the comments. If in fact you find them inappropriate.

No. The media has nothing to do with it. Her speech to the RNC was mighty impressive; her own words in interviews (regardless of which station they were carried on, and who was conducting the interview) were not. What she said about her foreign policy experience worried me. And I'm no fan of what I understand a couple of her policies to be - or the fact that she's very vague on things like the economic crisis. It's exactly the same as - I presume - the way you don't like Obama and Biden, for whatever reasons you may have. We just disagree; nothing more to it. It's OK to disagree!

So you are willing to condemn such statement about Palin? Real issues you have plenty of threads to post.
