Yeah, you'd think it would be, "Heels over head in love." But we just won't go there anyway.

To sweet (sp?) as in You better get over her to sweet! (from the old black and white cop films)

Cut you to the quick

Put your sorries in a sac

Clean as a whistle refers not to the "put your lips together and blow" whistle but the little instrument. You want an old reed whistle to remain clean from debris.

There's apparently also rumors that it refers to a the whistling sound a sword makes slicing through the air....

But consensus is that it refers to the reed whistle needing to be clean, smooth and free of moisture or debris.

Cutting to the quick, as I understand it, refers to the edge of the fingernail.

The phrase has come to mean cutting deep, but the quick is that line between nail that you can live without, and the pink part where it's gonna hurt.

Tout de suite is the correct spelling. It's French for "immediately, right away." *ht to Wikipedia*

For the anglicized version, you'd spell it toot sweet.

I've heard that one is actually supposed to be "I could not (or couldn't) care less" and that is why it often doesn't make sense.

Actualy it is "toot sweet." It is a corruption from a french term meaning 'all at once.'

I don't know. I'll have to ask God about that one since it's in His Book. Good question.

It's in the Bible. I can't remember where in the OT, but God's creation is referred to as the apple of His eye.
