Got report cards for the little guys today! All A's and B's for Aryn and Ethan and proficient marks for Zoe as well! We also got the results of standardized testing the kids take every year. All 3 younger kids tested way above average as I expected! We also received a letter in Aryn's envelope that stated, based on her test scores, she has tested into Algebra 1 in middle school!!! Algebra 1 as a 6th grader! IF she continues on that path she will have more high school math than I had throughout high school before she even gets to high school! Blows my mind!! Ethan had a great report as well! What got me the most was in the comments portion of the report card! His music teacher that hasn't had anything positive to say about him since he was in first grade, actually had a positive comment on the report card!! Now I really do love this woman! She is good at what she does, but she never quite understands Ethan and the boy he is. Their personalities just do not mesh at all! For him to get a positive comment is a MAJOR deal! Zoe's report card was great too! I just realized how many days of school she missed this year when I saw it in writing! I honestly didn't believe she missed 8 days, but I guess she did. Now I can officially say I have a 10th grader, a 6th grader, a 5th grader and a 3rd grader! Blessings, Garsy

Yay, Garsy! Nick took his "school shoes" (see next paragraph) off by the sandbox last night and didn't bring them back in. It rained overnight. He was a wreck this morning having to wear his sandals to school, because he was afraid he wasn't going to get to play in gym. I also didn't let him bring his wet shoes with him, so unless J has another pair of sneakers for him, he'll be wearing the sandals tomorrow too. And it's all my fault, don't you know? Mind you, his school shoes are dollar store welfare looking shoes. No offense to anyone who puts their school age kid in dollar store shoes...we do buy them if they don't LOOK like dollar store shoes. His sandals are his new sandals for this summer. I got them at Target. They are very sneaker-y looking and should be fine for gym and recess, if the teacher isn't being picky. It does tick me off that she sends him to this very snobby rich school district with gross (they were gross too!) dollar store shoes. We pay child support for a reason. I know he tends to trash shoes quickly. I get that. So buy the dollar store shoes for at home when he's catching frogs in the backyard. Don't send him to school in them! I really hope he didn't have an awful day. But I'm afraid he might have. When the morning doesn't start well...he has a hard time bouncing back. Less than 2 weeks of school left for him! No word yet on whether he's being held back, going to summer school, neither, or both. My bet is either summer school or nothing. In that case, I hope he's not going to summer school. We'll deal with it, but I'd rather just work with him at home on our weeks. We already told him he's having Daddy's house summer school either way.

We are supposed to do math sheets and type this summer. It hasn't happened yet. It is mean of me to laugh, but laugh I must. Join me... Years ago there was a tv show on called "Caroline in the City" After a few years of sitcom ups-and-downs it was clear to the viewers that Caroline and Richard belonged together but their life choices kept them apart. In the season finale, Caroline walked down the aisle to Mr Not-Right and Richard ran into the church and yelled stop, or her name, whatever. During the summer the show was cancelled. I was unhappy. I still am. I want to think they are happy in sitcom land but did Caroline break Mr. Not-Rights heart, or Richard's? I will never know. And Poppa has teased me about this for at least 10 years. Oh, it feels like many more. He has gotten lots of miles and smiles out of my grief at having the show cancelled. Until now. Until today. Poppa watches "My Name is Earl" and as our show ended for the season, we learned that Dodge was not Crabman's son as they had all believed. Now, there are words for the character that is Dodge's mom that TOS doesn't allow me to use, but lets say they aren't faithful and pure. But, there are only two adult males in the show who could be his dad so is it the other fellow or some unknown? End of season. Today, Earl offically was announced as not coming back, anywhere. NBC already said no, now the producers said no to TBS. And, while I do feel bad because he LIKES the stupid show and it does have some heart at times and I think they were a bit shorted by NBC - I did send hubby a note to the effect that the show was "Caroline'd"

This isn't spam Staples has some school stuff on sale. Not great prices, but $1 for 24 pack of crayola crayons. Expensive paper with a decent rebate. You should be able to find your local ad online

Lord Stanley, Lord Stanley, get out the brandy. WHOO-HOOOO! Go PENS!!! Ok, I got that out of my system. I even watched about 5 minutes. I can't find the puck on the ice so it means nothing. I just poked around and said 'call me' if anything happens. It helped that we didn't get home until the top of the third. (Top of the third? Isn't that baseball, oh well) In other words, Pittsburgh Hockey team won the championship game. I am elated for good things to happen for my friends who are fans. 2 months til Stillers.

20 miles north? Tell her to watch the baseball game from earlier. Well, every time we tried to watch a game in the playoffs, they would lose, so we didn't try to see it. We went to see the man-cub and didn't home until whatever time it was... PBee said if they scored he was turning it off. Then, Detroit scored and he said he had to watch it anyhow. We called DeeDee out for the last 2 minutes. Our drunks are still celebrating. I just watched KDKA sign off analog. It was so cool. There can't be that many people who still have analog so folks may have missed it. They did an old fashioned sign off. They played the National Anthem and showed pictures of Pittsburgh and old newscasters and interviews. I know I saw Reagan before he got into politics, Ali, PGH based shows, multiple trophey hoistings. The clips went backwards from present to the first few studio shots. Like going back in time. After the song was over, they used a voice over of how one of their LOOONNNG time news casters ended the news. Something like "This is Bill Burns wishing you good night and good news tomorrow" and then it cut out to static for a second, just like every night used to be, then the blue screen of death. VERY COOL and if I find a link, I'll post it I had a wee tear. I had a wee tear when Crosby picked up the trophy. I'm off to bed. I wore out the tv. There isn't any signal left. (less you all worry, I have a box, but the channel he is snoring too is broadcasting the 'buy a box' message in spanish)

That's cool about the sign-off MBee. I'm sorry it is not working for you Judii. We have cable, so it doesn't matter here. My folks got a new TV so they'd be able to keep watching. We got their old TV. It was bigger than our upstairs one we usually watch, but we put it in the basement anyway. Then in Feb. they got frustrated with the change (that didn't happen?) so they ended up with a dish. MBee, I hope BigBee is enjoying camp. It sounds like a good deal to me. At least around here, there's not that much to do to earn money for that age. My kids like to go spend their summer at camp (not scout camp), but they don't get paid. Of course that means they can decide when they want to work, too. Also, the camp takes a break for the first part of July, another group is using it. K was supposed to be staffing this past week, but when they found out she'd be there 4 weeks in a row (training, camper, staffing, camper) they had her come home for this week. But they put her on the schedule to staff two more weeks later in the summer, so it should all be fine. This is old news, but I guess I quit checking E's powerschool grades too soon. When I got her report card she had a D in advanced biology. How do you go from a high C before the final, to a D? She was hoping her final would bring her up to a B in that class. She must have missed something important there. She's not been around enough for me to ask, and I'm not sure I will later. Not much point. I'm trying to figure out the cheapest way to get all the school shots/physicals done. N's scout physical has to be done by the dr. because the health dept doesn't have a nurse practitioner or a phys. assistant. It sounded like his tetanus shot would be cheaper at the doctor ($45) than the health dept ($75), but then they said it would be $15 because he was born between 9-1-97 and some time in 1998. The state would pay for part of it. But now I'm wondering if the Kindergarten shots for R would be cheaper at the doctor. I wish they had price lists I could just go pick up. Or better yet, posted online. Maybe the health dept does. Dee

We use a booster on our antanae as well as a rotor. We have to turn the antanea, even with the digital signal - it is more sensitive than it used to be. We have to turn it, scan and then turn it and rescan. I can't get ABC-PGH in because it is the only one that needs pointed that specific way - their transmitter is in a different spot and we have the antanae pointed in a good spot and we just don't feel like messings since we can get ABC out of Johnstown or Ohio if we want it. I know a lot of folks that went to cable but I wouldn't do it. I do need new equipment out there before they stop making it.

Momma...okay, you made me cry with your description of the television sign-off. I spent many an evening babysitting as KDKA would sign off for the evening. Go Penguins!!!! (Not that I watched...I can't see the puck either on television hockey).

So far our digital reception is fine. We have a converter on one television with rabbit ears and a cheap sd (digital) tv with rabbit ears. Other than the blinking on and off problem that digital has, we are able to get good pictures,.

He hasn't had one since 98 so he's about a year overdue and he won't be able to work at the zoo without one! Remind me to call the doc. on Monday. Please! Soccer is over! Hallelujah! It was a very long season or so it seemed anyway. Found out today that Aryn will not have the same math teacher Ty had for 6th grade! That's a good thing since we had serious issues with her. Then again it could have just been her and Ty's personalities clashing. But I would rather just not deal with her if I can help it! Blessings, Garsy

A person can only watch so much pbs. Now come on Judii! That's practically all that's watched around here! Of course we only get 4 PBS channels, and the basic channels now with our converter boxes. No cable or whatever here! Cut a couple big limbs out of one of our mulberry trees today. Borrowed an electric saws-all from our neighbor to get the bigger chunks cut up and will do the rest with my trimmers. Wish I had a good chainsaw tho so I could cut the entire tree down! Also found out that those same neighbors put a bid on a bigger house today and they are beginning to get their house ready to put on the market. It's a very good chance that I'll be losing my built in high school maths tutor! But I understand very well why they are wanting to move! That house is simply NOT big enough for more then a family of 4 and I know they want at least one or two more kids in addition to their two boys! Ah well! I guess I'll get by! It's a good thing that Ty will be taking all the same math course that Aryn will be only a couple years apart! Blessings, Garsy

DD1 got her report card and made honor roll. Every class except one improved since last quarter. The other one went down 2 pts but was still an A. Since it's only her 2nd quarter in traditional school in many years I'm very proud of her.

Wonderful zoebob's daughter!! I got a phone call tonight from the director of the Art's camp Aryn will be attending this summer. She was calling to tell me that they had enough funds in the coffers after the fundraiser in May to offer Aryn a $410 scholarship! All Brian and I have to pay is $25!!! I figure I'll hold a garage sale in the next couple of weeks and put up a big sign that says this is to raise the money for Aryn's Art camp fund! Should be able to raise the money pretty quickly AND get rid of some stuff that needs to be gotten rid of anyway! Blessings, Garsy
