Cool! I don't know if I have ever seen a pic of a wombat, I'll have to look it up.

That's a shame Mbee. :(

I think I food poisoned myself. I took a bite of tainted steak and didn't spit it out. Mike took a bite too. Now I'm worried we'll started getting sick in a bit.

My personal favourite Australian creature is the numbat. I don't know why, but they just fascinate me.

Last week of school for us. I'm hoping we make it through. Two local schools have shut down with swine flu.

Well

We aren't packed

We keep changing our plans

I'm tired, and expect to drive so I don't get cranky and car sick.

About last Thursday, I wished we didn't decide to go with Dad and he knows why I feel that way. Part guilt about him not being able to do things, or BigBee. Part stress of planning. Part overall stress pulling me down. Every time I get excited about something, someone either complains they will miss it or complains they will need to go....

Uggh.

But, I expect we will have fun. I hope. Anyone want to do dishes for me so that item is off the list? I went over the list last night (of things to do) and it sounded empty. My SIL tried to make plans for me but there are things you really can't do when it is two girls together, especially when one is a budding teenager who doesn't know how to walk in crowds and and top on that list is 'relax in public'. My SIL doesn't get that, and it upset me.

And, I really need in the bathroom but when he is stressed, that is where he goes...

Just got a 2nd degree burn about the size of my palm on my outer upper thigh. I was helping Zoe with a project, and the iron slipped out of my hand and I, stupidly tried to catch it with my hip/leg. And of course it was hot. It wasn't on my leg, through pajama pants more then a few seconds and I have a nasty burn!

Happy Fathers day Dads!

Blessings,

Garsy

Triple antibotic works well on burns, too. I hope the pain is soon gone, and the burn gets better, Garsy.

My leg is doing fine. Still a little tender but okay. No popped blisters yet, which is good. I'm keeping it moist with the aloe lotion I have and will resort to the triple antibiotic if the blisters pop.

Well the Cincinnati thing looks like it's not going to happen. I have mixed feelings about this. I KNOW my husband would have been good at this job and he would love this kind of thing, and it would be great to have an income coming in again. But I'm kinda glad that we are not considering a move right now and that he won't be 3 hours away and coming back home just on weekends. Now if only something would happen here. He REALLY needs something to do. It kinda sounds like it could be the owner wanting to keep a person in a position even though General Manager (Brian's friend) has told us that this guy had already used ALL of his paid vacation (4 weeks) all of his paid sick time (2 weeks) PLUS 2 weeks of unpaid sick/vacation time, and the morning of a big switch from one station to another, called in sick when it was obvious that he wasn't. I guess according to the GM he is about as reliable as a toothpick would be to stacking up a tomato plant. Now I hate to say it but this person is also in a minority, and it could be that the owner doesn't want to deal with all that.

My parents are considering a trip down here in late July! Now when they come I might have kids off at various camps but if they stay over a weekend They'll get to see all of them at some point! Crazy! But that's my life!

The skeeters are thick outside tonight! Don't want to be out there to long with out large amounts of bug spray! The toads will get a great meal tonight!

Blessings,

Garsy

What's happening to the company he got laid off from? Have they done any rehiring at all yet?

It's really bad here too. I haven't even stepped one foot outside today. It was 98*with a dew point of 74*. That's just too hot. We did have rain storm go through and the wind shifted from the north, so now it's cooler than it was this morning at 5am! it's nuts. I truly hate summer.

They rehired about 25 about a month ago. Didn't make that cut. Then they called back another 25 to start back on Monday, but these are all folks that took voluntary leave 6 months ago. So it would take ANOTHER 15 or so being called back of involuntary before Brian would be called back.

Blessings,

Garsy

We found a book in th kids' section of the library called How to Scratch a Wombat .
I may have seen one at the zoo once.
We haven't read the book yet.

Garsy, praying that your Dh can either get called back or find another job.

It's bad here, too. The only bright side there is around here is that there are lots of parents spending extra time with their kids!

Yep that is a plus. Another plus I've been hearing about - at least around here is that some people are realizing for the first time, if they cut back on expenses and such and don't take the big fancy vacations and whatever - they can actually make it on one income! I know of 3 families that are simply amazed that once one of them was out of work and they really started looking at their expenses seriously, that they realized what was really important and they can do it on one income! I KNOW for a fact one mother that isn't going to go back to work even if her job is offered back to her, unless her husband loses his in the meantime.

My neighbor guy is mowing my lawn!
Brian has been helping him with computer issues a lot over the last month or so so he wanted to pay us back a little! We have sweet neighbors!

AND I found that a young lady in town here is offering piano lessons for 6 dollars a half hour lesson a week or $12 for an hour plus the cost of the book! I would seriously consider this for Ethan if we had a piano or keyboard for him to practice on!

Blessings,

Garsy

The aquarium had an Austrailian Exhibit. A Sloat and her baby. Koocaburra (sp), and a bird that looked like a stump. (I'd have to look that up)

Can I threaten my son from out-of-state? He wants to be at home Saturday. Understandable, but I don't like how he is making it work. On one hand, he did make a plan. On the other hand, it involves the words "she can pick me up at 11:30pm". I told Poppa that if he does that, he will lose the priviledge of leaving camp with anyone except his Momma and he will travel on his Momma's whim. And, I am not a whimiscal Momma...

Other than that - having fun.

Is it just me, or are there are lot of threads/posts that are back-handed comments on public school? I'm over it, but still...

Yeah there are a couple right now. I'm finding it rather easy to stay out of them tho. I'm over it too. I KNOW I'm where God wants us to be with the kids and that's that. People can say what they want, BUT I KNOW how my kids are doing and what's happening in OUR schools probably better than any of them, since I don't think any of them live in my area. So I really don't give a hoot anymore.

ANYWAY!!

Good news!!! FINALLY!

BRIAN IS GOING BACK TO WORK ON THE 6th OF JULY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got the call this morning! We don't know yet what shift, as they are opening up a 3rd shift again, but folks from the current 2nd will likely want to go back to 3rds if they can. So now we wait.

This does kinda mess things up with Ethan and camp since he needs an adult to go with him. As a provisional camper he needs a responsible adult over the age of 18 to attend with him. So Ty can't go. I really don't want to, but I might end up doing it. Brian may have a couple vacation days coming still, so maybe we could make it work still. He'd only have to take one day of unpaid time off, maybe.

I'm having a garage sale tomorrow!! and Saturday! YIKES! I'm so not ready, as this has been a wild week, but that's okay as I usually do well under-pressure!

Blessings,

Garsy

Garsy - that is great!

I'm DeeDee and I are going 'yeah' for you.

Regarding those threads, silence perpetuates misconceptions, and speaking invites arguments.

It reminds me of folks who tell you that 'you just haven't been convicted by God about it.' They can imagine that maybe I have been, and the message He gave me was different than the one He gave them.

That would be a kookaburra and probably a tawny frogmouth.

Garsy, that's wonderful news!!!

Last day of term today. It's sports carnival day. X twisted her ankle last night. She was just turning the corner into the hallway and somehow ended up stepping on the side of her foot and falling down in, literally, a screaming heap. Somehow I don't think she will be participating today.

J is beginning to get more headaches again. We're thinking we may have to book another trip to the neurologist.
