This problem extends beyond the scope of just primary and secondary educations. Modern evangelical Christianity has done much to segregate itself from many facets of our culture including music, art, film, academia, journalism, and science. Instead of being involved and interacting with the institutions of the rest of society, we've essentially created a parallel subculture with sanitized, "Christian" versions of everything. Instead of challenging ourselves by engaging other people of different beliefs, we stay safe in our Christian schools, studying Christian textbooks, reading news from Christian news organizations, watching Christian movies, and listening to Christian music with our Christian friends. You can't have the sort of paranoid delusions that momma_bee described without abject ignorance. That ignorance stems, in part, from believing what other people tell you and not having any experiences of your own. -Dan.
