quote:
ORIGINAL: agapist Dear slushie, I posted here to secure the interest of an editor, believing the thread would draw their attention. If they thought my insights were worth their time, they would contact me on this thread. However, I did not make that clear, so I understand the re-direction. My problem is organization; I know the mechanics of how to outline, but I seem unable to fit the various pieces into a connected whole. Does this go there or ever here? Should I contrast ideas in each section or not of notes? And as soon as I start an outline or to edit, I have five pads going with new stuff that can go here, here, here, and here or have their own chapter. Hmm... sounds as if you have a lot of fodder for many works, rather than lots of pieces for one work. Or maybe it is one work -- chapters of a book? Depends on what your goal is. Maybe your work will be a book of essays -- kind of like what Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote (in structure). quote:
What I feel I need is to hand it over to someone and let them link and subdivide, cut and paste a prodigious amount of notes. A sifter. That I can certainly do! I'm good at that sort of organization of thoughts. My professional capacity has me focusing on the details of writing: spelling, punctuation, grammar, mechanics, and style. So if I see errors, I can help you fix them. quote:
By simply placing it in this section, an assumed magnet for editors, I thought all this unsaid confusion was what an editor assumed was needed. By posting your stuff in Writers Roundtable, you've put it in the right place -- that's the area of the discussion board dedicated to posting writings, critiquing them and giving feedback, and conversing about the craft and art of writing. But actually, seeking and giving feedback work better when each writer creates his own thread for posting his work. For example, cries-within and selahgirl like to put all their writings into one thread. (Of course, one is not limited to participating in one's own thread.) The optimal situation is each work's being posted in its own thread, so the thread of critique about that particular work is more likely to stay focused on that work. quote:
So, can I stay? In the forums? Certainly! [:)] In Writers Roundtable? Please do! [:D] In this thread? I think we need to keep the topic to Looking for an editor? -- those who want one and those who can offer editing services. (By the way, my professional position is not editor but is copyeditor, but I can offer volunteer editorial help.) quote:
And is there someone out there who liked what he read enough to be a big help? If what I said is not to your liking or understanding (which is why the sample was put there), then I don't feel you could properly piece it together or give meaningful suggestions as to content, which I also need. I don't want to derail the thread further, but I do have some theological/doctrinal concerns with some of the assertions you've made. Perhaps you could copy your post into a new thread so that we could let the feedback exchange become fuller and richer? (Mods, is that allowed?) And I do like your writing style! [:)]
